  1. Susan, I just heard the other night that my grandma used an all vegetable & meat diet combined with the tea tree oil d%$#@#$ to get rid of her chronic yeast infection. Were you on that type of diet too or did you just use the tea tree stuff? And just a drop per 12 oz. ? Sounds like it's probably worth a try! Did it burn at all? I am a...
  2. Wow - good advice from everybody! Thank you! I wish that I could simply make the whole house gluten free - but that's because I'm just a tad selfish Actually - my dad finally had the tTG blood test today!!! YAY!!! :) This might be a lot easier if we find out I'm not the only one! Another question - what is the best way to clean...
  3. It has definitely been related in my case! When I was a little girl the enamel didn't form correctly on my teeth and throughout my life I've had lots of cavities. As for pain... that might be due to the fact that celiac is often related to gingivitis and your gums might be extra sensitive. A couple of months before my celiac disease was diagnosed, I had...
  4. Jennifer, Nope, I haven't tried Nystatin yet. I *have* done a lot with Diflucan - including 6 weeks of taking it every third day (which helped a little but it came back ) and then (just last month) taking it every day for 10 days and then another 72 hours later, while using boric acid vag. suppositories for two weeks. That was loads of fun, let me...
  5. Hey! Sounds like you and I are having similar thoughts! I actually went off the pill (Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo) just a few weeks ago. I did this because (1) I thought it might help me get rid of this yeast infection I've had for over a year, and (2) I'm not having sex anyway *because* of this yeast infection I've had for over a year! I'm 32 years old and have...
  6. I need some help figuring out how safe my kitchen is... My family is (seriously) the messiest family in the whole world when it comes to the kitchen. I am terrified every time I consider preparing food! I don't think there is one square foot of counter space that doesn't have breadcrumbs on it Though I am pretty sure that there are other people...
  7. Blueshift & Ianm, I think both of you have made excellent points. Just the other day I started to wonder, "Why do they call this a disease? Maybe it's just that our bodies are never meant to have gluten. Our bodies can be well without it - so why do they act like their is something "wrong" with our bodies?" In the minute amount of time...

    ARCHIVED "celiac Isn't Hereditary"

mcalistorm - Wow! Your mom AND your dad! That's wild stuff. I'm glad that *you* were able to find someone to help you! Welcome to the forum What that doctor said... Holy hell, those kind of doctors should be lined up and shot! But, what do ya do, uh? Be sure to check out our list "You know you have celiac if..." One of them...
  9. Oh ya! The other thing she tested for was B-12. Kaiti - how long after you became gluten-free was the follow up test done?
  10. Hello. I just got home from the doctors where they took four HUGE vials of blood for vitamin testing. (okay, they weren't really *that* huge ) Has anyone else done this? What was the result? My doctor kicks butt and is so on top of thing! She tested me today for magnesium, E, A, iron and hmm.. I think something else but I can't remember. We already...
  11. Tiffany, We just did this ethnic question Look under the post "What Is Your Ethnic Origin?" in the Research section to find out where everybody is from. I love your question about what ancestors had it. I am pretty sure that my dad has it - and that his mom has it - and that his brother and a couple sisters have it - but none of them have been...
  12. Thanks for the explanation Carrie Not such happy news for me though, since my doctor told me last week that according to the biopsy my villi are flat
  13. Really? I thought it damaged the part that digests fat. Doesn't it just damage the whole freakin' thing? So far I've learned that the damage prevents absorption of nutrients, digestion of fat, and (now) that it prevents the breakdown of starch. So.. is there *anything* that our bodies can handle without problems? Please enlighten me!! ...
  14. I think that the potatoes are definitely the starchiest! Beans would be the least starchy (is starchy a word? ) because they have protein in them. I think rice is probably the second least starchy one - because rice (if it's brown rice) actually has some protein in it also. I think corn is second only to potatoes in the starchiest contest. Wow,...

    ARCHIVED Eggs

Maybe the good eggs come from chickens who eat quinoa and the bad ones come from chickens who eat wheat ..? Anythings possible!! - Michelle
  16. Well I'll be damned I had been wondering about the whole reaction deal. Until I was consuming gluten in vast quanitities (gluten challenge) I didn't have any reactions to gluten (well - that I was aware of anyway!). My gastro doctor said that my villi looked "flat" so ... now it's all coming together Thanks for educating me!! ...
  17. Pat - Thanks!!! I had looked at that list and somehow missed it. Sorry! Thank you for helping me - Michelle
  18. Will you please ask about their gummy candies for me? (Swedish fish, gummy worms, that kind of thing) - Michelle
  19. Thanks celiac3270!
  20. I tried the chreese alfredo.... YUCK!!! I don't think I've ever tasted anything worse in my whole freakin' life! The cheddar was not fantastic but not too terrible - but... I warn you about the alfredo!! I think maybe they should change the name to alfred-eww!! Just my opinion - Michelle
  21. I've discovered that my "gluten indicator" is a wicked case of heartburn - and I have it right now! But all I've had to eat/drink today is a glass of Minute Maid orange juice. I've been sick though, and have used Tylenol Cold (Severe Congestion) Caplets and had a few shots of Flonase nasal spray. I'm pretty sure the other stuff is safe. Could it have...
  22. I did it!! Wahoo!! Now you guys will know who I am! Now you guys will know who I am... Uh-oh.. I hope I haven't offended anybody! - Michelle
  23. I did my test through US BioTek - the cost was $165 for 96 foods. I did the "vegetarian" panel. Now I'm wishing I had done the full panel - because my naturopathic doctor suggested that since my dairy allergies are so high (literally off the charts) I may have allergies with beef Of course, I've never known anyone who's allergic to beef.. so she...
  24. Good call Stephanie! - Michelle
  25. Definitely do the ELISA blood test (I imagine that's what York offers). I did the scratch tests and showed no reaction to any foods at all! The allergy doctor who offered it just treated me like I was neurotic. The ELISA test showed allergies to eggs, all dairy (even goats milk! I never would have known) (Goats milk is gross ) (eww) Anyway...
