  1. I suggest the political election season approach: hide her posts from your feed or choose "important ones", or whatever they call it. It helps.
  2. Yes. You didn't know the link between the two? Thnk of it this way -you're body was literally starving for nutrients....that damages your bones. Damages your soft tisse, too.
  3. I'm sorry, that sounds terrible. A friend went through an entire surgery AWAKE AND AWARE because while he was paralyzed from the anesthesia he was awake and couldn't communicate to say "hey, stop!". There will be more info after they look at the samples under the microscope.
  4. Fats will help. Slows down the digestion, too. Also, do you think you might be going a little hypoglycemic? Because that's how I get when I do that...I eat nonstop. Adding fiber rich foods and 2x the protein, and preemptive eating helps. And if it gets too bad, 12 ghiradelli semi sweet chips. When you go through withdrawal the body can flip out - wouldn...
  5. I really have nothing constructive to add except been there, done that. I wasn't gluten-free at that point- and had undiagnosed thyroid and celiac. I think stress reduced milk flow - at least it did to me. It really was mind over boob. My flow wasn't as low as yours, but it wasn't enough to solely bf. AND he wouldn't nurse - I had to pump. Ugh. The only...
  6. Yes. Hypothyroidism is also known to cause premature greying and grey eyebrows. I've had both...
  7. I know exactly how you feel. My son has been through testing - came up negative...and yet there are signs pointing that direction. My husband and I have to make a decision...and it is difficult. Very difficult.
  8. I don't know how else to say this...so here goes. You want black and white - and you are in a grey area. You will always be in a grey area unless they come up with new testing methods for Celiac Disease that don't require the subject to eat gluten for a long period (or at all). Stop worrying about if it is Celiac, and concentrate on developing a safe menu...
  9. Of start a food diary - see of anything pops out at you. I'm not sure how long you've been gluten-free, but I experienced weirdness for a year and a half. I did have some cramping as my gi tract started working correctly. I'd had bad c, and my body had to learn to have normal bm's. it wasn't always a painless or soothing process. I experienced quite a bit...
  10. No, I never did scd but did try to add naturally fermented foods and tried to make water kefir... My gi issues have been secondary to the dh - I have/had them, but overall I've been quite fortunate. I've had other adventures - blood sugar/adrenal issues, thyroid problems. The glucose issues impacted my food the most. Seem to be much better now. Have discovered...
  11. You can get pinto beans, chips (last I heard they weren't safe, though), three awesome salsas, and rice at Tamale Company. Also, a killer breakfast on weekends.
  12. Yes, forgot GFG! Their sandwiches are good, and a very good creme puff!! They are on the NW side, and that's a big haul if you're based on the east side for your travels (Tomstone/Kartchner). Be warned, El Charro on Broadway is now closed.
  13. There is another restaurant on the east side that has gluten-free on the menu - I've never tried it, though, so I don't know how well they execute: Open Original Shared Link As far as Mexican goes, the Old Pueblo Grill has Nuevo Mex - I'll be honest, I don't have much luck with finding safe Mexican. Tucson has excellent Mexican joints but most are mom/pops...
  14. Feast - a must try. Tucson Tamale Company - don't leave without stopping there. For Chinese, Lotus Garden Buddy's is on the East side and I'm ok with a few of their dishes - I did get "got" there, once. Explain proper procedures to the waiter - mine does push the kitchen staff to be more careful. BJ's is good for all-around and pizza. Never had an...
  15. A genetic test can show you if he has the most commonly known genes linked to celiac. It doesn't prove or disprove he has celiac disease - only that he's genetically predisposed. Some doctors use it to exclude celiac if the most common genes aren't found; however, there are dxed Celiacs with the "wrong" genes - so genes aren't all there is to it. If you do...
  16. Everyone is different. There's no set timeframe - you just have to figure out YOURS.
  17. Yep, it looks like it could be dh. But to be honest - lots of rashes look like they could be dh. You have been on steroids - that could give you false negatives. If steroids aren't working then stop them, ask for a full Celiac blood panel and skin biopsy. Ensure your derm knows how to biopsy for it. Then, try a gluten-free and low iodine diet and see what...
  18. I completely understand. I was at the grocery store yesterday without a list - did pretty well until I realized baked beans are hard to make without beans - problem was I was on my way home. But overall, I did really well remembering what I needed without the list. Progress .
  19. Yes, this can happen from gluten. Reactions can (and do) worsen the longer a person is gluten-free. There is NO WAY to predict how a person will react, and it is not unusual for reactions to turn to hideous without warning. Celiac testing us notoriously unreliable in children - they say its because they haven't had enough time to build up antibodies. So...
  20. I know what you mean. In the beginning it's so up and down - you are afraid to hope, even. I always found going outside and sweating helped my rash - I think because the rash was near my armpits and the sweating softened the scabs. I also wondered if the vitamin d from the sun helped - I was extremely deficient.
  21. Remember, if milk seems to be an issue, you can do a modified scd. You can make water or coconut kefir, as an example.
  22. It could be both, just one, neither... I think what the root of the problem is you're struggling to accept how careful you may have to be? Cc is a tough lesson - it's easy to avoid gluteny food - cc is a different animal, though. You're constantly double-checking and reevaluating your surroundings and choices. It's part of the acclimation process. Sorry...
  23. I'm afraid you're being a bit naive...there's gluten all over your workplace. This is different than just walking around in a gluten world. You are fighting tremendous odds here. You're going to keep getting glutened. You can take every precaution - but the bottom line is you are working in a very high risk environment. I sincerely hope you can make this...
  24. 5. I handle all of the pastries and bake all of the products - even though I use gloves, could this be problematic? Yes. If you're playing with flour, you're probably inhaling. Yes, glutening water spraying on your face is potentially problematic. Eventually, it will probably work itself into your mouth. You are playing with gluten. Eventually, it...
