  1. NOT to blast chiropractors, but they often advertise locally that they can cure celiac here. They insist that if the spine is in proper alignment, all disease processes will diminish and eventually leave . . . Hmmmm. . . .
  2. Our Kroger has had the old stuff for a LONG time! Sorry I missed your post, Vincent -- REALLY sorry. I guess I have to go back to eating the expensive honey coated Puffins cereal. How are we going to get these companies to understand the necessity for gluten-free products -- besides the ones that are outrageously expensive? Something has to be done. ...
  3. Yes, I tossed and turned all night -- didn't sleep AT ALL. I am so furious. I agree with (can't remember who it was) about being typical Americans -- she's right -- sue their asses -- get a class action suit going, and they'll have to answer to what did you say, 7,000 people? I also posted a thread about Kroger Golden Korn Nuggets discreetly adding CONTAINS...
  4. Fairy Sprinkle -- that sounds JUST like what breaks out on the whole perimeter of my face -- my mom even commented one time "WHAT has happened to your face -- it was fine yesterday." Then told me that, if I thought it was gluten-related, she wanted me to have it biopsied. Easy for her to say -- the thought of having a chunk of your face removed is kind...
  5. SuzieQ: If your IgG antigliadin antibodies were that high, you obviously have gluten intolerance -- an autoimmune disease. Antitransglutaminase antibody and Antiendomysial antibody testing are more specific for Celiac. The most definitive diagnosis comes from the small intestine biopsy. I have high IgG antigliadin antibodies, but have had all the other...
  6. Can't change them, only you . . . I do the same thing -- make my stuff, then take it wherever I need to take it! I will say, though, my husband is having a really difficult time with this -- with my family and his. Birthdays are BIG at our house -- but since I've been diagnosed, I haven't been able to participate in the cake and ice cream. I had to bake...
  7. I'm on a mission to find out about what I'm putting on my skin -- even Bare Escentuals, which I thought was completely gluten-free, has gluten in their skin revver-upper lotion. I'm sorely disappointed! I love their stuff! Here's what I've gotten back so far: The Revlon Consumer Information Center has received your comments from our website...
  8. I knew that Kellogg's Corn Pops contained gluten, but have consistently read the packaging on Kroger brand Golden Corn Nuggets -- and nowhere was it listed that it contained wheat. My latest package, however, says at the bottom, in dark letters, CONTAINS: WHEAT. I am wondering how LONG it has contained wheat and if, in fact, Kelloggs produces them and forgot...
  9. Because, if he is involved in an HMO or a PPO, he is rewarded for not referring and is penalized for referring. They have percentages, quotas, whatever you want to call it, and that's simply the way it is.
  10. Thanks for checking into it --will be looking forward to what they told you. . . . Lynne
  11. Claire -- as usual, you are such a help. The articles are really good -- maybe someone is getting the message. It would be nice, wouldn't it???
  12. I was scrolling through the sports and fitness category. There's a thread on there about Team Celiac -- it's a fundraiser walk/run for Celiac. The whole information is on that thread, which is very informative. At any rate, they're going to be in Lake Placid on June 11, 2006 and it looks as though it will be big. Perhaps that is the way to get to the...
  13. I agree with Patti -- if a phone call is all it takes from keeping you sick, that's a smallprice to pay. . . . Lynne
  14. I'm such a chicken that now, I buy plain yogurt, add a little sugar, some vanilla extract, and whatever fruit I want -- kind of mix it up like I did with ice cream when I was a kid, and voila -- fruit-flavored yogurt! I'm starting to get to the point that I think I'm quirky about gluten, but it's scary that it's everywhere. I didn't know that Kroger was...
  15. I think it was something exactly like you said - all I know is it made me mad! I'll post it as soon as I get a response! . . . Lynne
  16. Nini -- I cannot believe that I'm sitting here crying over McDonald's products. It's just that, when I think of kids, they all think that McDonalds is the fun place to go, and trying to give your kids a normal life is hard enough as it is. Much less to have to find out that they put ingredients in their products that would make them sick. That just breaks...
  17. teebs --Thanks for the info - I guess having a biopsy on your face wouldn't be great, but I've had one on my neck muscles, on the deepest muscles of my inner thigh, my small intestine, two after lumpectomies, why not my face, too??? I do think that it's odd that the "pustules"? come out each time I'm glutened. I've been strict on the gluten-free diet...
  18. I use a combination of egg and whey protein -- supposedly, it's gluten-free. So far, haven't had a problem with it. I had asked someone about casein sensitivity -- dont' think I got an answer -- I think that would be the only difficulty you would have with whey protein.
  19. When I was working there as a kid (16) which was a REALLY long time ago, the french fries came in half-cooked -- they were first cooked in lard, then frozen. We did cook the hash browns in the same vat that we cooked the fries. Now?? Who knows. I do know that the Gluten Free Bible states that the Chicken Bacon Ranch salad is gluten-free, but this list...
  20. Now that my husband has taught me how to post the replies I get from companies, I can finally pass on the information I get. Here is the response I received from Neutrogena, along with their Gluten-Free List. (I got a really "vague" response from Dove, and was so angry I immediately deleted it. I'll try again and see what happens!) Thank you for contacting...
  21. Tony Romas was listed in the Gluten Free Bible as having gluten-free products, and I believe, a gluten-free menu. My husband and I went to a Tony Romas in Lexington, KY and I asked for the gluten-free menu. The waitress told me that this particular restaurant was a franchise and didn't have the same menu items as the Corporate restaurants did. I e-mailed...
  22. Thank you for your input -- I'm getting really tired of looking like I have some kind of pox around my face!
  23. My cousin works for a magazine which is owned by a registered dietician. (don't ask -- it's a bizarre, but evidently very profitable story) I'll ask her if she can get some info. Lynne
  24. Hey! What do you know? My husband and I did the right thing without knowing it! In desperation, we sprinkled cayenne pepper all over the area where I had planted my bulbs. Then we went looking for the squirrels and chipmunks with swollen lips! (just kidding) -- but it kept them from eating them. (at least some of them -- I think they had already gotten...
  25. I know I have bothered you guys so many times, and I am really sorry. I am just really confused as to this stupid rash on my face. I was glutened at Christmas time, and it popped up -- itchy, kind of blistery-looking pimples that bleed, and it went all the way back throughout my scalp. Then, I used a gluten-containing cleanser about 3-4 weeks ago, and...
