ARCHIVED Mcd Fries 2: The Phone Calls :)
tiredofdoctors replied to ryebaby0's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Isn't it amazing that the big corporations usually get a way out, and your basic "Joe Schmoe" would go to jaile for something like 30 years for a lie that big? -
ARCHIVED Flex Spending Account
tiredofdoctors replied to ehrin's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
We got a flexible spending account this year just because we spend so dang much money on my doctor's visits and tests! -- Not to mention the $160 / month co-pay for my meds . . . . Lynne -

ARCHIVED Mcdonald's French Fries Not Safe?
tiredofdoctors replied to pixiegirl's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
You're right. We are talking about french fries. But we are also talking about a food which, according to what McDonald's formerly published, was safe for me to eat. But it wasn't, and I wonder how many perkinje cells in my cerebellum were destroyed, how much of my peripheral nervous system was destroyed, and how much of my retinas were destroyed -- all... -
ARCHIVED Mcdonald's French Fries Not Safe?
tiredofdoctors replied to pixiegirl's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Vincent -- I agree whole-heartedly. You are absolutely right on target. I had to call each pharmaceutical company for the medications I take -- the pharmacy wouldn't take responsibility for that -- in order to find out if my meds were gluten-free. GENERIC SYNTHROID produced by the company that was supplying it contains gluten. The medicine I was taking... -
ARCHIVED Questions About My Endoscopy
tiredofdoctors replied to gointribal's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yeah, if my cerebellum only looked so beautiful! It has continued to degrade . . . you can see where it looks like it's "fanning out" due to the parts that have died off. Just hoping my brain can re-route some of those signals so I can get out of this #$%@'ed chair! -
ARCHIVED Have Contacted Lots Of Companies For Lists

Well, got my reply from one of the Pantene - here's their response -- and mine: Response (RightNow Administrator) - 02/08/2006 08:21 AM Thanks for writing, Lynne. Our consumers mean a great deal to us, and we're sorry you were unhappy with the response you received when you contacted us. Our goal is to provide excellent service to all consumers... -
ARCHIVED Mcdonald's French Fries Not Safe?
tiredofdoctors replied to pixiegirl's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Richard, I wrote the last portion of my response without knowing your circumstances. I cannot imagine, in the most horrible depths of my thoughts, what losing a child is like, and particularly in the way in which you lost your daughter. I meant no hurt to you and no disrespect. Had I known what you had faced, I would not have written that. You have... -
ARCHIVED Mcdonald's French Fries Not Safe?
tiredofdoctors replied to pixiegirl's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
First off, I don't think we're planning a class-action lawsuit, and neither are we are we "counting our money or planning to bankrupt McDonalds". I don't, however, think that it should be O.K. with ANYONE that when you go to a fast food restaurant you're taking a big chance with either your health or the health of your children. I think that McDonalds has... -
so then, what will make the gluten stop destroying my brain? Do I have Brain Stones????? Just thought about what I said -- hope my kids aren't reading this, because their first response would be -- "of course, we've always thought you had rocks in your head!"

ARCHIVED Mcdonald's French Fries Not Safe?
tiredofdoctors replied to pixiegirl's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
This thread is becoming like road kill for me -- don't want to look for fear of what I'll see next, but can't NOT look. To all of you who have In-and-Out burgers, you have now idea how extremely envious I am right now. I can remember that on trips to California, I would order a regular burger and the guy I was dating would say "she wants a double double... -
ARCHIVED Need Info (again)

My in-laws (my husband's brother and his wife) live near Franklin. They have a farm -- it is so cool. They're very environmentally conscious, so they grow grass-fed cattle, with NO growth hormone, no unnecessary antibiotics, and grow goats for goat milk. My sister-in-law doesn't even like the thought of putting dye on easter eggs, so she buys chickens... -

This is by far the best response I have gotten -- it was back in October -- but I must say that Neutrogena is extremely consumer-friendly: Thank you for contacting Neutrogena. First of all, please accept our apologies for not answering your question to our website feedback before now. We have been experiencing technological difficulty with our website... -
ARCHIVED Have Contacted Lots Of Companies For Lists
tiredofdoctors replied to tiredofdoctors's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Typically, in VERY SMALL PRINT, at the bottom of a product are the words "a subsidiary of . . . . " That's how I often know. I can tell you that Max Factor, Oil of Olay & Pantene are subsidiaries -- that's what I know so far. Will keep the thing going -- I'm on a mission! -
ARCHIVED Need Info (again)
tiredofdoctors replied to tiredofdoctors's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
Thanks for the heads up, Patti -- I am really starting to believe that this is DH. When I do pop them, I have sores for about two weeks -- makes you really want to leave them alone, becaue you know that you're just going to look worse! . .. . Lynne -
ARCHIVED What Is The Difference Between Celiac & Gluten Intolerance?
tiredofdoctors replied to skurtz's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I have gluten intolerance, but I have "autoimmune cerebellar disease" or they also call it "gluten ataxia". Instead of having celiac symptoms, the antigliadin antibodies cross-react with anti-perkinje cell antibodies which I also produce -- working to destroy the perkinje cells. Unfortunately, they don't regenerate, and they're in the cerebellum of my brain... -
ARCHIVED Questions About My Endoscopy
tiredofdoctors replied to gointribal's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My GI doc said that the intestinal villi looked "beautiful -- healthy, pink and plump", so he only took four biopsy sites. I found out in 7 days the results of the biopsy. . . Lynne -
