  1. Another vote for Red Apple Lipstick. They have a lipstick "exchange" program whereby you send in your old used lipstick for a discount on their stuff. I sent in 3 lipsticks/glosses and bought 2 lipsticks and 1 gloss. I love them. I have Ruby Slippers and Strawberry and both are very flattering colors.
  2. I can relate. When I first started noticing symptoms they mostly came 5-7 days prior to ovulation and again 5-7 days prior to my period. For gosh, almost a year it seemed to stick to that pattern. Then it all became much more frequent, for days in a row and almost weekly. After being gluten-free the symptoms started to improve but say 3mos in I was still...
  3. Yes, NCGS equals non-celiac gluten sensitivity. I still have off days. Even 6mos gluten-free and things pop up. Yesterday afternoon my heartburn flared. But, on a whole, I can go days, and yes, weeks, feeling great. Some posters here have said it has taken them 6mos-1yr to feel noticeably better. If gluten is your issue and causing damage it will take...
  4. I had many similar symptoms...bloating, pain below ribs that was so bad I couldn't stand having my kids sit on my lap and lean back on my stomach, heartburn, fatigue, (and more!). I too am blood test negative. I have been gluten-free now for 6mos. I think it took a solid 4 mos before I could really see the difference. At 5 mos I added gluten back in for ...
  5. 1 cup yogurt, splash of fruit juice, handful of frozen Mixed berries or a banana or frozen sliced peaches, 1tb ground flax. I sometimes add a scoop of natural peanut butter or a scoop of avocado (makes it very creamy).
  6. Personally, if the docs willing to do blood tests and I'd only been gluten-free for 2 weeks, I'd go back on gluten and get tested and I'd make sure the doc runs a full celiac panel not just tTg or EMA (ask for total IGA and dgp too). Then, if tests come back negative I'd go gluten-free for a few months (strictly and consistently)and take copious notes about...
  7. Below is the response I received from mikes. Use your best judgement. --------------------------- Thanks so much for contacting mike
  8. Yes they are. However Mikes has done Elisa testing on the lites and they test at less than 5ppm. They have info on their FAQ page. They have staff with celiac involved in the testing.
  9. Ok, rookie mistake. Actually no, not rookie mistake, just my willingness to take a chance on something. This is totally not meant to be a debate on the Mike's Hard Lemonade products, nor a claim I was glutened by Mike's. Just my own personal experience that something didn't agree with me after consuming it. Now, I'll will fully disclose it was a regular...
  10. I did a 7 day gluten challenge last month after being gluten-free for 5 months. It took a few days for my symptoms to start adding up. I did get some nausea and bloating on day one but then as each day progressed things accumulated...canker sores, headaches, restless sleep, change in stool, increase in heartburn, etc. Good luck to you! PS: I used cream...
  11. I love Wegmans. So many of their products were all ready gluten-free and they started changing there sauces and marinades recently. A cashier told me that a granddaughter or niece in the Wegmans family has celiac and that's why they are investing in this product line. ETA: All Wegmans brand food items are labeled with easy to see, easy to read allergy...
  12. Ate there yesterday for Mother's Day and was so overjoyed by the size of the gluten free menu! Wow, what a selection. I had a pizza with spicy chicken, leeks, goat cheese, bacon. It was divine! And best of all the prices were the same as the regular versions of the items. Glad to see a restaurant not mark up the gluten-free items a couple bucks.
  13. I have eaten them when traveling and haven't had any issues.
  14. It could be gluten. Could also be growing pains. It's quite common at her age and if I recall correctly it tends to peak at night. It might be worth keeping a food and symptom log and see if you can correlate the pain to gluten consumption.
  15. My symptoms are different than yours, but yes, I experienced symptom cycling. I too had been tracking and my headaches, bloating, and heartburn would happen almost always 1 week prior to ovulation and again 1 week prior to my period and each time the symptoms would last 2-3 days. I thought it was purely hormonal. This went on for quite a while and then the...
  16. Welcome! You've found a great place for advise and commiseration. I've been gluten-free for 6 mos. I've been where you are. All I can say is take a deep breath and repeat after me, "this will get easier, this will get easier, this will get easier!" The main celiac.com page has a lot of helpful information about shopping and foods/products to avoid. You...
  17. I'm very happy with Red Apple Lipstick products.
  18. Thanks for the opinions. I appreciate it. I'm tempted to seek a GI consult. I'm not interested in going back on gluten for a scope but would be interested in a GI opinion of my symptoms and would even consider a scope knowing that my gluten-free diet could negate any biopsies for celiac.
  19. I'm posting this in the "pre-diagnosis" forum because I'm curious on other's thoughts/opinions on something my doctor told me. As you can see in my signature, I'm sero-negative and diagnosed as NCGS. When my doc gave me that diagnosis she said that because my discomfort is epigastric that indicates "some other reaction" to gluten and not Celiac because with...
  20. Since going gluten-free I've had much more mild periods...less aches and pains. Last month I did a 7day gluten challenge and by the last half of my cycle my breasts were so sore. They haven't felt that sore since I was pregnant years ago.
  21. Thanks all. I take the gas-x soft gel and never have a problem. Actually it is the best relief to my bloating/distention I've found (phazyme works too). It could be any # of things. And while it's helpful to know what it was, I also realize that I may never know. I just needed to vent my frustration. Thanks IH for the reminder about flax. I do add juice...
  22. Gas-x is on the Open Original Shared Link But thanks for the concern.
  23. Maybe it's the result of the gluten-free bread I made on Sunday that gave me gas on Monday that I'm still reacting to. Maybe it's the gluten-free pizza I got from a local gluten-free bakery (that also makes regular pizza too so I know there's always a cc chance) that I ate on Sun and yesterday. Maybe it's something else entirely. Who knows. What I do know...
  24. So today I had the same thing I had for lunch yesterday (a turkey sand on gluten-free panini from a local gluten-free bakery) and so far have had no issues. So it is definitely the King Arthur bread I had for breakfast yesterday and again, that reaction was identical to the reaction I had to the Pamela's bread I baked last week. The bread was made in my Kitchen...
  25. Heartburn is one of my main symptoms. It hasn't fully resolved yet but clearly flares when glutened.
