I swear I'm gonna stick to fruits and veggies. Went to the store to buy kale and spinach. I won't get glutened this way, and I'll finally lose that 35 lbs. Not sure what caused it, but I did buy some pork tenderloin and am wondering if it was hidden in it somehow....there was a weird ingredient...will have to retrieve the label. You know it really sucks...

I've been gluten-free for a couple of weeks now, but I'm pretty sure I've been glutened tonight. Seems like the longer I go without the junk/poison, the worse I feel when I have it. I feel like throwing up and I can feel the acid burning. When I throw up now since going gluten-free, the acid is really strong...burns my nose and mouth really bad. Is...

I wouldn't quit b/c of this. Maybe you want to quit for other reasons (i.e... you hate your job....hate boss even without this latest junk). You should ask yourself why you want to quit your job....if this is the only reason, then you really should not quit. Skar.

I hear you. I've been glutened....must've been yesterday or today, but I do not feel well. Started with dry mouth and fatigue....and now have diarrhea and nausea. I've decided that I am going to change the way I eat yet again. I'm going to eat plainly...meat, chicken, fish, rice, potatoes, fruit and veggies. It should help with the excess weight and...

ARCHIVED Till I'm Blue In The Face!
Eliza13 replied to Nicolette's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I also think that a big problem is the way that "food intolerances" are framed in our society. They are framed as digestive problems/allergies, not as auto-immune disorders. As we all know on this board, it is the auto-immune reality and associated disorders that make celiac a major health problem for most of us. Diarrhea notwithstanding, think of the... -

Butter pecan pie and McDonald's! -
Hello, I've yo-yoed on the diet since being diagnosed a few months ago. (I know...bad...but I'm working really hard at staying gluten-free and am on a really good streak...I'm well aware of the consequences and feel much better when gluten-free, DF). I hadn't vomitted in years, but now when I do eat gluten after a long gluten-free period, I end up...

Milano... My aunt had surgery yesterday for Barrett's esophogus. I've tried telling her (and the rest of the family) about celiac, to no avail. Why do people not take food intolerances seriously? I think it is because they have been primarily characterized as "digestive" problems, while the more serious symptoms get side-lined. SKAR

ARCHIVED Gluten Ataxia (only)?
Eliza13 replied to tiredofdoctors's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
It is truly amazing what the little bugger (gluten) can do to us. I have a looooooonnnnnggggg list of complications. I've had them for years, but was only recently diagnosed. The one thing that I can say for sure is that most doctors are indeed clueless. My doctor sent me home after telling me I had fat in my stool and a high WBC, and after I complained... -
ARCHIVED High White Blood Cell Count
Eliza13 replied to Eliza13's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I think that I did have inflammation. Guess that can't be a good thing. Wonder if it means more damage. I also had high prolactin, which is associated with greater intestinal damage. Skar. -
A high white blood cell count was another one of my many symptoms. How is this connected to Celiac?

Maybe she is allergic to soy. It is a common allergen. -
I have always had trouble sleeping. I can never seem to fall asleep, but boy can I sleep for hours on end when I am on gluten. When I lay off gluten, I sleep less, am less tired and fall asleep easily.

ARCHIVED How Were You Diagnosed?
Eliza13 replied to krisb's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I was dx on the basis of symptoms alone. I have read mixed reviews on this, but most advise that people be tested (blood, biopsy). Not too sure why my doc decided that I would not need above, but it is a moot point since I have responded really well to the diet (I yo-yo on the diet and notice a huge difference when I am on vs. off). I did have ALOT of... -
cqilsing.... Congrats....never been pregnant myself. Just wondering how long it took you to get Preggo. I have PCOS and celiac....will likely be difficult to get preg since I only menstruate when given drugs, but am hoping that going gluten-free will change alot of that. I went on a protein diet 5 years ago and that has been the only time in my life...

Okay.... I know that this topic is kind of personal, but so is talking about poop and all of our other associated health problems. One of the things that I have noticed since going gluten-free is that I now have a sex drive. I swear that I have had very little interest in sex until I went gluten-free and am wondering if anyone else has had this experience...

ARCHIVED I Need A Crash Course In Fibromyalgia.....
Eliza13 replied to Jnkmnky's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Well said Cdford.... Reminds me of slow and steady wins the race! Patience and small improvements will add up over the months. I guess it is important to enjoy the daily improvements rather than think of the elusive "one year" healing time. If I stop to think of how I have improved on the gluten-free diet (even though I have yo-yoed), I no longer... -
ARCHIVED Microwave Popcorn
Eliza13 replied to swittenauer's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
My favourite way to have popcorn is by using a pot, olive oil and kernels. Nothing beats it....it is delicious!! I salt them when they're done. -
My brother has schizophrenia and obvious distention. I am trying to get him off gluten...he seems to be interested. I hope I am successful.

ARCHIVED Swelling Of Ankles And Hands?
Eliza13 replied to Mjohnson73's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Kfran.... The EXACT same thing happens to me. That was the final straw that got me complaining to my doc prior to diagnosis. Bad joint pain, swollen feet and hands, and itchy legs. I was never checked for the fibrom though....wondering if I should now, but all of that is gone by going gluten-free (and I have yo-yoed!!!). -
ARCHIVED Gluten Affects Breastmilk Supply And Quality
Eliza13 replied to Engineer2's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Hi, I have learned that suggesting that people be checked for gluten intolerance does not always work the way I would like. I know someone (Jane Doe) whose brother is a diagnosed celiac....Jane has obvious distention, uses the bathroom alot AND her mother died of Lymphoma!!!! I suggested that she be checked, and she replied: "I think I'd know if I... -
Yeah...that's what I thought. I think I have both b/c I frequently sneeze when I am around flour. Lucky me!
-
I'm sure that this is not a new idea, but imagine a world where all products were clearly labelled gluten-free, DF and WF??????? How can we ever make it happen? I know that if everything were clearly labelled that I would never cheat (I am a yo-yoer: gluten-free 2 days now). Life would be so much easier. Speaking of dreams....I have more of them...

Hey, I also have PCOS....and I pee alot when I eat gluten. I have not been diagnosed with diabetes, but the thought has crossed my mind that I may eventually get it. It is really interesting to read about clusters of diseases that co-occur with celiac, but even more interesting to hear people actually demonstrate this. Makes it all seem even more...

I used to work in a grocery store prior to diagnosis and would always sneeze when scanning flour. Not sure if it is related to celiac, but that is my experience.
