  1. Spent time reading through my notes from when he was 18 months old and we first did all this. All the symptoms are the same now as they were then. 3 days now he has been gluten-free and getting better each day. The food diary does not lie, took him off all the things the scratch test said, no effect. Take him off gluten, the next day we see results. ...
  2. So we put my 8yr old son in bed around 830pm and he is allowed to read for 15-30 mins, then after that he goes to sleep. He sleeps many nights right through to 8 or 9 am. So figure he is getting around 10 hours a night. That seems excessive to me, esply since the neighborhood kids are out playing later, much later, and still get up for public school. If we...
  3. Our son is currently Egg, Dairy (all forms), Gluten, Soy, Almond, and Oat free. Besides the homemade stuff, he also brings Enjoy life candy bars, and other Enjoy life bars and cookies. Currently we have homemade cupcakes with homemade icing that I made for him, so he gets to bring them. It makes the other kids jealous. I like keeping the Enjoylife stuff...
  4. How long have you been gluten-free for? If the chronic fatigue is due to Celiac, then just being gluten-free for a while should clear that up with out drugs. I am not in a position to tell you to not take a drug that your doctor prescribed, but I would at least tell you to call him and ask him about it. Perhaps he has a different one he could offer? I will...
  5. If you mean the Altoids thread from 5 years ago... yes. If you mean this thread now? Only the last 3-4 pages. Its a bit long to go back now! LOL
  6. Do you have a link to this announcement?
  7. So I will note it has been about FIVE YEARS since I was last here... and the topic at that time? Altoids and their uses. Its like I never left!
  8. If I recall right the file needs to be less then 50k in size. The trick is to make cut the size of the image to like 100x150 or there abouts, and turn up the compression until the file size is less then 50k. Any decent, even free, picture editing software should be able to do that for you.
  9. Sorry, I was distracted by the topic of Coyote guts in that post and missed it. Frankly that was more interesting at the moment. Thanks for humoring my stupidity. I will check the only PetSmart we have here for it and see how bad it is. The vet wants him on Science Diet, but he does not like it nor does he like Eukabunka or how ever it is spell which was...
  10. You state in your post... "His GI said he tested + for Celiacs through blood work " This indicates he is reacting to something. Blood work is a purely objective test. It is not perfect, but no test is. The biopsy measures damage. So the doc looked at a small part of the intestine and did not see damage, that is all the biopsy means. The GI...
  11. Sorry to sound stupid.. but what does "BB" stand for?
  12. Sooo what is everyone's favorite easy to find and not overpriced gluten-free dog food?
  13. With out knowing her personality it is hard to say BUT if she loves to cook, bring recipes! Talk up about how great it would be to cook / bake foods together. Educate her with out her knowing it on gluten-free cooking/eating. Might even say something like "been having trouble with this gluten-free recipe" and ask for advice. Try to spin it to the positive...
  14. First welcome to the forum! This is a great place to learn form other parents' experiences. Here is some threads to check to get you started: Some threads with good info: FAQ Celiac com https://www.celiac.com/gluten-free/forum-7/announcement-3-frequently-asked-questions-about-celiac-disease/ Celiac Newbie Info 101 What's For Breakfast...
  15. You are adhd, of course you are being too impatient. It would likely take several weeks before you would notice things... and it will likely be a gradual change so you would have to pay careful attention. So umm, Good Luck! :D
  16. This is not helping his new-food-a-pobia one bit btw!
  17. My son sees an autism/adhd specialist here in town as his primary care doc. She says that in her practice her patients do see some improvement of autism/adhd symptoms on a gluten-free diet. She does not go so far as to say one is the cause of the other, just that she has seen improvement in children, even those that test negative for celiac disease and have...
  18. Our results may not be typical, but here is what happened with Timothy... He WAS in the 101st percentile for his age, then he got really sick and started losing ground. Eventually we discovered the gluten-free diet and he got better... but he has never again returned to the 101st percentile, or even close. So my assumption based on that is that they do...
  19. So this morning he woke up with out a stomach ache... so that is a good sign. First time recently at least. Be we have removed so much from his diet that we will have to do some re-adding to see what happens... but that is not a problem for this week at least.
  20. missy'smom, Interesting stuff about LADA, not heard that label before. Most of what I just read on that bloodsugar101 site fits with my understanding of blood sugar at least, other then their ranges are a bit tighter, but they admit to that. Thanks for that link, when I have more time will have to read up. I due for my bi-yearly endo doc visit soon, and...
  21. Yeah, we seem (at least in America) to have this idea "this food is breakfast, this other food is lunch, and do not mix with dinner foods." Mix it up. We have done cheeseburger patties for breakfast, and pancakes for dinner. Mix it up and as young as he is he might even find it a bit exciting.
  22. The pedi should do it, but if that is the response you got your next step is to say "Then please refer my children to a specialist for these tests." If the Pedi refers them to the GI, then most cases the insurance will cover it and the GI will do the test. It is over kill, IMO, but I know a lot of primary care doctors see themselves more as a central hub...
  23. Couple of things... First, start a food diary. Record exactly what he eats, and the time that he eats it. Do not just write generic like "a sandwich" put down all the ingredients, and brands where applicable, so that days later you can look back and know exactly what he at. Every time he has a stomach ache, write that down in your food diary with the time...
