  1. Simone, do you have a gluten-free household? If not then that's a possibility for cc. Eating out is always risky. On average, how many times per month do you eat out? It would seem to me that for this to happen after 20 years; you would have had to have been getting cc'd for some time. But then I'm no expert. Maybe you've been clean so long that all it...
  2. I forgot to answer about the potatoes. I would think as long as you peel them you will be fine but I double peel my potatoes just so I make sure I get good & past the skin. I wouldn't think the salt water fish or cod liver oil would have make a difference at this point to trigger a reaction. I'm glad to hear the flares are tapering down in intensity...
  3. I eat Gutino's Genius bread --- no egg yolks, no dairy, salt is not iodized & none of the Glutino products use iodized salt. I buy it at my local grocery store. I have decided I will need to wait until I can have iodine before I make my own bread. I wouldn't know where the thread is that the girl asked how long before she feels better. Here's...
  4. Kosher salt is not iodized. Anything Kosher does not contain iodized salt; it just contains plain salt. So Kosher things are safe for us who are watching iodine.
  5. You hit the nail on the head when you say this is such an emotional roller coaster!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It screws with your head as much as it screws with your skin. And you get better & then you get a flare & you wonder if this did it or if that did it or if somehow you got a molecule of gluten or, or, or, or, until you're insane which stresses you out...
  6. Abby honey, I'm reading. I'm just so swamped right now. I feel your pain hon, I really do. What you are describing is exactly what I have been going through since Dec. 2011 when I went gluten-free. It gets better & then it flares. I have been & remain so pristine with my food to make sure I do not get the tiniest bit of gluten. BUT I HAVE gotten better...
  7. If you are gluten free then a dh biopsy will come up negative even if that's what you have. Period.
  8. And you must be consuming gluten or you will end up with a false negative result. And the derm needs to KNOW what they are doing & state the tests precisely for the lab & even then it's only as good as the tech reading the sample.
  9. You can make your own almond milk. I've never done it but plenty have. I'm sure they can tell you how in the recipe forum.
  10. Check that Almond milk for carageenan!
  11. All the Frito Lay products safe for us to eat do not use iodized salt or sea salt unless it says sea salt on it. I only eat the ones from the lines that are batch tested. Lay's original potato chips are okay. so eat up Simone!
  12. I'm sorry I haven't had a chance to even check the site today until now. I've been so snowed under with stuff!!!! We recently bought a house & moved in & we are trying to sell our old house & talking to the realtor today about a showing to a client & strategics, strategics, strategics discussions etc...... And tomorrow promises to be just...
  13. Prickly & others are better at the thyroid panels than I so I will let her answer that. On the anxiety thing.... another of the infamous things related to celiac disease as well as depression. And yeah, the anxiety is a biggie! It can be major. big bad anxiety. I wish you could see the difference in my hubs on that score. I had anxiety too for the...
  14. Abby, I do not want you to get discouraged. I did not put the info. out there about it taking 2 yrs. or more to be free of the rash in order to scare you. I put it out there to let you know that you can have flares even gluten-free. If I did not make you aware of that & you go along & then get a flare then you could think you don't have dh b/c you...
  15. Okay, take a deep breath, & then another & again. Now, calm down. You may not have the dh flare or persist for 2 years or even 1 year. Some do, some don't. We're all hoping you are going to clear quickly. Prickly did once she figured out it was dh & went gluten-free & then went low iodine for a bit. And there's no way to say if your flares...
  16. Here is a toothpaste that has no gluten or carageenan in it. I know this b/c my hubs hates the "minty taste" of toothpastes so he uses kids toothpaste. LOL! Guess what? I do too now. The dentist says it's every bit as effective as adult toothpaste so if that's what flutters your putter then go for it. And here is the ingredients list: Open Original Shared...
  17. Here is info. stating that the rash can persist for 2 or more years even gluten-free. Open Original Shared Link
  18. I agree with Prickly & will add that my first thought upon seeing Abby's photos was that any biopsy was probably no good given that what Prickly said as well as the fact that Abby undoubtedly scratched (as we all end up doing!) & scratching will destroy the Iga pattern easily.
  19. You are most welcome Abby! And talk our ears off all you want. Ask away! Surmise away ~~~ whatever ~~ brainstorm ~~~ it's all allowed & even welcomed here. In truth, I would probably be dead by now if I had not found this board. They don't call this the suicidal itch fer nuttin'! Even w/o the iodine, you can still have flares. This stuff "effs" with...
  20. I completely understand. And it's frustrating for you as it's like being caught between a rock & a hard spot. Hang in there.
  21. Oh I see. That's why I didn't know. It was like cross posting happens. Okay. I understand where you're coming from & I don't think you're overreacting; you're just keeping a weather eye out & rightly so! Well, there's nothing to keep you all from going gluten-free. The only thing with your kids is that an official dx would make things easy for school...
  22. YVW! A question. Does anyone in your family have celiac disease? I haven't been on the other forums in a while so don't know your situation. So I'm wondering what made you think it might be dh? There are many rashes & skin problems associated with celiac disease. If at some point you suspect again that he really does have dh, then come back here...
  23. DH is itchy, itchy, itchy!!!!! He would be clawing himself raw. And photos can be tricky..... It doesn't really look like dh. It could be psoriasis of some kind. I wouldn't push for a biopsy for dh for this reason ~~ If he does it & it's negative then you'll play hell getting him to biopsy it again for dh at a later date should the need arise.
  24. Abby, First, welcome to the board! Second, Great big hugs! ((((((( ABBY))))))))))) Third, I'm so sorry you have been put through all this by your doctors as well as having the rash itself which is hell. Fourth, I am not a betting woman. I hate to risk losing money so I very, very rarely put it on the line. IOW, it takes a sure thing before I will lay...
  25. Kelly, (((((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))))))))))) You've been through hell. Okay, I don't have all your answers but I can say this ~~~ it seems there is some point when the GI symptoms of celiac stop or go down to mild and instead the rash kicks in. We read it over & over here. I myself, now know that I had the GI symptoms when I was a teen &...
