ARCHIVED Hi Everyone, I'm Back!
squirmingitch replied to come dance with me's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I'm jealous about Black Sabbath too! Laughing at hitting a Roo. Somehow I never thought about Aussies hitting Roos like we hit deer but it makes perfect sense. It can also kill your car! -
ARCHIVED Hi Everyone, I'm Back!
squirmingitch replied to come dance with me's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
My goodness! You've surely been through some major upheavals in 2012. My head is still spinning from just reading about it all. It's fantastic to hear that you are moving forward from all the mess. I wish you & your daughter, mom & brother a serene & happy 2013 & beyond. (((((((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))))))))))))))) -
It's hard to wrote what we mean w/o the possibility of it being misinterpreted. I've written stuff & it seemed perfectly clear to me when I checked it before I posted it. Then I have gone back later & read it & thought OH NO! that sounds completely different than my intent. If you actually know the person you're writing to then they know how you...

Rowena, I would like to clarify ~~~ for some reason iodine (for most of us) just makes the rash that much worse or if your rash is all laid down & then you go eating a lot of iodine heavy foods it can make the rash flare like all get out. Iodine doesn't necessarily make the rash heal but going low iodine can take the edge off & sometimes make a big...

Oh, I'm sooooo sorry hon! Yep, you got it allright. Maybe it won't last that long with you. If you've been really, really strict & not had any slip ups but this one then that's a better chance that this will be a milder, shorter lasting outbreak. Yes, we know how horrid the itching is. Read this thread for tips on how to deal with it. https://www.celiac...

Are you asking how long the rash will last or how long the relief from the coconut oil will last? Actually, don't even bother to answer that b/c there is no set time for either. It all depends on so many things & lastly it depends on your particular reaction. You do know, don't you that if you've been dx'd for 6 years & this is the first time...

Let us know how it turns out at any rate. And have fun on your out of town trip.

YVW! I'm glad you got the white tongue thing figured out. NOW, that you know what it is we can laugh b/c it's funny right? Gosh, it could be impossible to figure out what exactly the rash is even for you doctor. It could be any of a thousand things. It could be something you are externally sensitive to even though it's only on your back. Did you change...

Oh, okay! Now we're getting somewhere. So you are dx'd celiac & therefore it's logical & possible that you could have dh. I can tell you that dh itches like a major b%$@# 24/7/365. INSANE itching, stinging, burning, painful ~~~ any one or combo or all 4 at once. And much of the time it presents with water blisters but not always. It really doesn...

Do you have celiac disease? Do you think you have celiac disease? If you ask us to give our opinion, then you have to give us some details. I'm not being snarky here please understand that but you don't do yourself any favors coming on & saying you have a rash on your back that you can't show any photos of & ask us if it sounds like dh. It's no different...

We Need To Start A Thread On Stupid Stuff Doctors Say!
squirmingitch replied to mushroom's topic in Doctors
My hubs had bladder cancer & every year he has to have a cystoscopy to check for any recur. Now, this Urologist is really, really good at urology; he really is. Okay, so last year we did not know my hubs had celiac disease. We tell the doc he does now. There is always an antibiotic prescribed after a cysto to make sure no infection happens from the procedure... -
ARCHIVED gluten-free Beer - What Do You Drink?
squirmingitch replied to squirmingitch's topic in Super Sensitive People
We found some New Grist in our town & have been drinking that. We like it & have had no ill effects. Real beer aficionados probably would stick their tongue out at it but we weren't beer aficionados in the first place ~~~ beer always made me sick so it stands to reason right? I will say that it doesn't seem to have as much carbonation in it. It makes... -
ARCHIVED How Long After Contamination Do You Get Your Rash?
squirmingitch replied to janpell's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
I can't answer you b/c I have not been contaminated. YAY! I have read anywhere from almost immediately to 48 hours but that's just in med texts. Med texts can be right or wrong or not tell the whole picture. Did the friend use certified gluten free oats? Or did they use Quaker oats? Quaker oats are cc'd from what I understand. Any oats that are not certified... -
ARCHIVED Dermatitis Herpetiformis?
squirmingitch replied to Dmont81's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
It's really hard to say b/c so many rashes can look like what you are presenting with & dh can take so many forms but I will say that dh does look like that in some forms of it. That's all confusing right? And it just leaves you more frustrated. I'm sorry but I have to say it like it is. You said it's itchy. How itchy? When does it itch? -

ARCHIVED Dh Help Please, Fever Blisters, + celiac disease X 18 Months
squirmingitch replied to traciknop's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
You can try going low iodine & see what happens. Iodine is known to make the dh worse or make it flare. For low iodine diet see: Open Original Shared Link The only reason I could see for you seeing a derm is to get Dapsone but since you've already been gluten-free for 18 mos. then you shouldn't need Dapsone especially considering your outbreak is...
