  1. RFJ, have you been eating gluten all along while taking Dapsone? You say it's impossible to eat gluten-free with your work schedule. How so? Do you realize that every time you eat gluten your villi are being damaged among other things? I'm not honking on you; I just want you to understand what you risk & maybe we can help you figure out how to eat gluten...
  2. Terrific idea inviting her over to eat at your house!!!! That's thinking on your toes gal & being diplomatic in the bargain. Well, there's no time like the present to test some iodine. Pick your item. Maybe ice cream since you love it so much --- just make sure there is no carageenan in it. I have seen some with it. Hagen Daz does not have it if...
  3. YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY Abby!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. Yup, Ibuprofen will do it -- it does it to me. They will do that....start to heal & then get inflamed again. Stuff has a mind of it's own.
  5. I will add that with dh you can be eating gluten & completely clear up -- totally -- for maybe months at the time but with dh ..... ONE DAY it will break out like crazy & not go away.
  6. The short answer is yes. But there are many rashes associated with celiac disease &/or gluten/wheat. People can be allergic to wheat & at the same time be celiac.
  7. ((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))))))))) Yup, I speak in whispers too. And try not to say it's getting better.
  8. I'll never be able to find it now but I did see one thing that was a med document that said the UVB treatment actually worsened dh. But it was only the one thing & it was NOT a "study" with references etc... so I don't know how they decided that.
  9. Oh! I forgot to say that recently I tried subbing quinoa flour for the rice flour, measure for measure, in the bun in a bowl & it turned out great! Plus, using the quinoa flour makes it much more healthy.
  10. Thanks for the links both of you! I'm going to try that mayo. I had tried a few recipes before that were eggless & they sucked. But none used flax seed. I'll give it a whirl. I like the Afterglow cosmetics --- totally gluten-free & not heavy or oily feeling. Before I knew I had celaic I quit using all makeup b/c my face got itchy & swollen every...
  11. Does your PCP know you have celiac disease? Yes to the tests you mentioned. Also lipid panel & an in depth panel for your kidneys not just the usual run of the mill testing. Iron, vit D, B's & calcium. I'm not exactly great when it comes to recommending which tests for what. You might want to post over in the Post dx, recovery & treatments forum...
  12. I'm off to take a hot Epsom salts soak right now. Will get back to you later. I LOVE your sense of humor!!!!! Makes all the difference in the world at times like these. I say laughter is the very best medicine of all. Pssssstttttt All of us with dh do that same thing ---- shhhhhhh, we don't want to jinx it. Wish I had a nickle for every time I've...
  13. IMHO since you're homeschooling then if I were you, knowing what I now know (having celiac disease) I would take the entire family gluten-free straight away. They say that people with autism do better on a gluten-free diet anyway so there's yet another reason. I guess your hubs would be the only one who could be a gluten eater & that's fine --- he can...
  14. Simone, go to the second time she posts the same post with the links for the photos & try those links. I tried clicking on the close in the first post she did & STILL got a black screen. To Jdorrferball, hon, you don't need anyone's permission to go gluten-free. & it seems like it might be better to save the money for testing the kids. The...
  15. It could be dh. There are many skin conditions/rashes associated with celiac disease & it could be 1 of them. DH itches like a b%$@#! 24/7/365. It wakes you up at night with the itch or just plain keeps you up all night, not to say it doesn't itch during the day b/c it does --- like a mutha! DH also tends to present bilaterally. If you have it on 1 elbow...
  16. I just get a black screen. No photos. Are you still eating gluten? What other symptoms do you have?
  17. Dani, how are you doing now? Are you back home & have you seen the doctor?
  18. ROFLAO!!!! Yep, that's all we need to do with those terrorists. Better than sticks under the fingernails any day!!!! No, I don't think you're adapting. You don't really adapt to this stuff --- at least I haven't. For me, when I get affected by iodine & then go low iodine; I seem to notice a difference in 3 days. For my hubs, it takes him 10 days...
  19. How are you doing Abby?
  20. If you try Dapsone then get the pills, go back to your docs office, sit there & take the pill --- make sure they have an epi pen first! There is another alternative besides the sulfa drugs & that's tetracycline + niacinimide --- it's 4th down the line after Dapsone & other sulfa drugs. Of course, then you will kill all the good bacteria so may...
  21. North Central Florida. We used to live in (grew up in Jupiter) southeastern coastal Fl. We sorta went from 1 end of the state to the other. The Chinese we liked to eat out at, do take out or have delivered & the leftovers we threw in the freezer so we always had quick, nuke it & eat meals for when we were late getting home from somewhere. I...
  22. I have to amend my statement. I miss Chinese food.
  23. I have been doing low iodine since.... well, I did it off & on for about the first 3 or 4 months & then I went low iodine & have stayed low iodine.... so say, since March of 2012 maybe May of that year. I do get my thyroid checked regularly though to make sure I'm still okay. I keep thinking that if I could just have 1 week clear then I would...
  24. Oh, okay, I understand now about no tomatoes. I miss my cheese, cheese, cheese!!! And I miss sour cream on baked potatoes & sour cream dollop on black bean soup & cheese toast & cheese in tossed salads & yogurt & MILK & I'd kill for an egg yolk all runny & chicken parmigiana with Parmesan cheese instead of hold the cheese. I miss...
  25. The biopsy would be negative for dh, having been gluten-free & on steroids. Even if you had not been gluten-free, the steroids will make the biopsy a total wash out. I'm so sorry you went through the celiac hell that you did throughout your life & starting at such an early age. I often think how lucky we are now to have the internet at our fingertips...
