  1. You & Prickly have said it all. I wholeheartedly agree!
  2. Lyn, I'm so sorry you are going through this & I know the doubt & wondering is torturous in itself. One thing i want to point out is that Sanneke70 who responded to your post asking for experiences of those who had been on Dapsone stated that she had been on 100mg. to 125 mg. of Dapsone & then only came down to 50mg. Maybe you just need more....
  3. Hi Jyn & welcome to the board! It's wonderful that you are getting some relief from the itchies. But I will warn you that it may not be permanent. Many, many of us begin getting almost instant (seemingly) relief when going gluten-free but then we get it back to varying degrees & this can last for 2 years or more until all the antibodies get out...
  4. Yes, it does resemble dh ~~~ it also could be any other kind of rash BUT if the conditioner had wheat in it then it's quite possible it's dh. ALSO, he's a 2 year old & stuff splatters around in the shower & it could have gotten on his lips & then he licks his lips. You see where I'm going with this? So you threw the conditioner away. Good! He...
  5. Breathe, just breathe. Go to the doc like Prickly & tinpins say & get tested for the Lymphoma but don't freak out & let your mind take you to scary places. Prickly is right --- this stuff is a beast & if you look at the med texts it states that Dapsone won't resolve ALL of the rash issues but makes it livable (or so they think but they don...
  6. There are many skin conditions related to celiac disease that resolve once gluten free. I can't answer your question as I never had an acne problem thankfully.
  7. Did you call the company to find out if the salt they use in the chips is iodized or plain? If it was iodized that could explain the itchy palms.
  8. I agree with what Lyn & Prickly said. If you want to get tested then DO NOT stop eating gluten until all testing is completed & you have the results back. DO NOT go gluten light either. Celiacs with dh tend not to have the GI symptoms that regular celiacs have or we have them but only mildly. That is not in every case but most of us so it doesn...
  9. Great for no new lesions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wooooooooooooo Hoooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yuppers, the SCD diet might be your ticket.
  10. Red food coloring #3 is the one with iodine. Red #40 is fine. That's in the US --- other countries may be different.
  11. The short answer is yes. Children get the same rash as adults
  12. Stress has a definite affect on my rash & my hubs as well. Yes, dh rash can flare with stress or worsen if already in a flare. Try limiting your iodine intake & see if it helps. But most of all try to chill out. Chillin' hugs ((((((crazyfly)))))) For me, Benadryl didn't do anything but I have found that Claritin has helped with the immune system...
  13. Dearest Dani, I'm shocked & very, very sad at this news. I know you love both of your parents with all of your heart. I remember you posting photos of your mom's knees with the rash on them & thinking/wondering if that was dh & the other things you mentioned that made you think that she & your dad both could be celiac. As well as their thoughts...
  14. Great news! And I got a medical alert bracelet too. I got one that has the usb thingy so it can be inserted into any computer & read for your allergies/conditions but it can only be changed by you. It doesn't matter if it gets wet ~~~ it still works.
  15. Yup. Gluteny cat food can end up glutening you. Take the pets grain free. BTW, dogs are allergic to wheat, corn & soy. And when was the last time you saw a cat ins. a field of corn eating the corn? Than why is it in their food? Way too many cats getting diabetes these days.
  16. I understand your frustration with things not clearing up immediately but remember that it probably took years to get to this point so overnight healing is not going to happen. Hang in there!
  17. Fascinating. Thank you!
  18. It doesn't sound like your rash acts like typical dh acts. Do you get it on both sides (bilaterally) at once? There are many skin issues related to celiac disease & non celiac gluten intolerance --- yours could be any of a # of things. If you don't care about a dx then by all means go gluten free for a good 6 months & see what happens. Being gluten...
  19. YVW. Do you keep a food log? That can be invaluable in figuring out what the heck is getting you. Also, in your case, I would suggest a log of topical products. That may help you find what's making you hypersensitive. You know, just because something is "natural" or "organic" or has no additives does not mean you aren't sensitive to it. I think sometimes...
  20. It's more than highly doubtful that having been gluten-free for a year that this past 6 months you would have dh that is only making your skin hypersensitive. BTW, people with dh don't use Oatmeal cream or lotions as oats are contaminated with gluten. You may have a sensitivity to one or more of the herbs & spices you are ingesting.
  21. One day we'll BOTH be "on the other side" of this. Exactly ~~~ the alternative is not an option.
  22. Try cooked fruits rather than raw. Your gut may not be able to process the raw yet. Same goes for veggies ~~~ cook the heck out of them. They may not be the greatest that way but it should be easier for your gut to deal with. And; it may just be part of the roller coaster ride which can have no rhyme or reason for the first say 6 months. One day at a time...
  23. No, it is not more or less itchy. It just itches like NUTS always. It doesn't matter if you scratch or not. It doesn't matter if you put clay on it. It's just plain HELL. It is called the suicidal itch & that moniker is in medical texts as well as the brains of we who suffer with it. Does that answer your question?
  24. There are many rashes & skin conditions associated with celiac disease & probably with non celiac gluten intolerance. But the dh rash itches like the very devil!!!! Non-stop, 24/7 & 365. If your rash does not itch then it's not dh.
