  1. MO, I use Suave Naturals for shampoo & conditioner --- they are gluten free. I have noticed that when I eat, no matter what I'm eating I seem to get really itchy. I wonder if it has anything to do with leaky gut? HUGS ((((MO))))
  2. I don't think it applies to everyone & I don't think it's something that celiacs with dh tend to experience in the main. In my particular case & I know in GFreeMO's case we are both so fired up in our skin right now that ALL our skin is hypersensitive to the max. When that situation happens then just the fact of the band aid being on there can make...
  3. AND you have to be actively eating gluten diet or the dh biopsy will be negative. Don't stop eating that gluten if you are determined to get a dx.
  4. Thanks dear. I doubt a GI has any clue about light therapy. And yes, sometimes you get the flesh eaters where you get 2 or 3 next to each other & then they all grow together to make one huge lesion. Maybe the topical Dapsone..... I don't know. Just have to talk to him & see. My other worry is that if I go the Tetracycline route that I am deathly...
  5. MO, I know. Me too. And if I weren't absolutely, positively sure that I am NOT getting gluten anywhere then I would be thinking that I had gotten cc'd. But this is what this stuff does. If the docs say you're getting gluten from somewhere then ask them to do a celiac blood panel on you. If it comes up positive they are right ---- negative & they'll...
  6. MO, I tried that ---- whole foods only & low sal foods for months & months & months & months & months --- I went into the outbreak I'm still in so finally after being in this outbreak for a couple months I said f&%$ it & started eating any whole food I wanted sals or no sals --- I didn't get any worse from it. And eating a few...
  7. Yes, shroomie, it is a soft rain shower head. I use the coolest water I can stand & even turn it off between times ie: wet my hair, turn water off, lather my hair, turn water on to rinse, water off & soap body, water on to rinse. Just starting yesterday though I began to experience this same feeling when I went into a bout of super itching so fierce...
  8. Yes, I have noticed a low grade fever but I don't run for the thermometer every time I begin to flare so I can't say I've kept a log of it per say. But It has happened & I have taken my temp. & it was there but mild. Seems to resolve in a day or two. My feeling is that it's a reasonable assumption that would happen with the antibodies going into...
  9. Carrageenan gets me big time --- IODINE my deah. I don't do any almond milk, coconut milk, rice milk etc.... b/c I have not found one that does not contain carageenan or sea salt or some sort of soy & soy I can't handle.
  10. Thanks Shroomie. It does suck.
  11. Photos taken on 1/19/13. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8086/8397268918_25a514e824_z.jpg Above is the flesh eating lesions you saw earlier. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8329/8397268656_f95f1f68df.jpg Below is the underside of my breast. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8232/8397268718_b204fa28b6.jpg Lesions on my front: http...
  12. Since dh can flare at any time until all the antibodies are out of our skin, I thought it would be good to show such as well as the progression of it as it ravages the skin. I have been absolutely strict gluten-free since Dec. of 2011. We have a gluten-free household & eat 99% whole foods. Have not eaten out at all. My dh had improved greatly upon going...
  13. I have a lot of photos to upload to the dh photo bank & there is text to go along with it. This is going to be a bit of a lengthy process. Is there a "save to drafts" or save feature in case I get interrupted & am unable to complete it all in one sitting? Thanks
  14. Also something to consider is GMO foods. I found I have a problem with GMO foods. Nothing like you are going through but I get little dizzy spells when I've eaten GMO corn products or canola oil. So I just stick to non GMO & have no problems. Just a thought.
  15. DH is called "the suicidal itch" & that's for a reason. It itches insanely, burns, stings, & the lesions can be painful & sore.
  16. As described in Henry Weightman Stelwagon's book describing the different forms of DH there is a papular presentation of dh. Link to the sticky at the top of this dh forum which links the book: http://www.celiac.co...ns-of-dh-types/ Medical definition of papule: Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link So the papular presentation is...
  17. You should be aware that dh can present at any time even if you are gluten free until all the antibodies are out of the skin & that can take 2+ years. So you have relief now but you may flare again. That is what is so hard about dh. If people suspect they have it & go gluten-free & it clears & then months later, still gluten-free, they have...
  18. I can't speak about the diabetes with respect to hair loss. I find my hair loss on my head to be relative to the amount of dh I have on my scalp at any given time. As shroomie says; you can't have skin conditions in your scalp without hair loss. Although alopecia is associated with celiac disease I do not think my hair loss is due to alopecia per say. The...
  19. Interesting Brandi; my strongest gut reactions were always from beer also. As a teen experimenting with drinking I quickly decided beer was NOT the drink for me as I would have violent GI reactions from it --- screaming pain/cramps in the gut & D. Do you think you can find that info. on chlorine again? It would be great if you could & then post...
  20. No, it does not have to blister. Read the entire thread in this link:
  21. Just saw your post on the photo bank. As far as chlorine goes I couldn't say. We have city water right now & so I'm getting chlorinated but I have not been in a pool or hot tub. I also haven't been showering in anything but city water so have no comparison to non chlorinated water. Interesting thought though.
  22. Hi itchypregosaurus. Welcome to the board. Tylenol seems to be the safest for us of the NSAID's but I find that even it aggravates my dh if I'm not very, very judicious in my use of it. I never use Tylenol PM so I can't speak for that specifically but plain Tylenol affects me if I take them day after day. Also, I've read in a lot of the medical literature...
  23. I don't think that particular lotion will hurt as long as it's gluten-free but I sincerely doubt it will make any difference. The rash does what it wants & has a timeline for each "lesion". It's going to run it's course & that's that. I had trouble, before I knew what I had, with gluten containing makeup making my face itch & even swell. Google...
  24. zamm0, Yes, it can be a sign of having recently taken in gluten. I would say especially if you have been gluten-free for a couple of years & have not had any dh outbreaks in at least several months. If you are under the 2 year mark then it's possible that it's just a "spontaneous outbreak" which can also happen any time until all the antibodies are out...
