  1. I tell you the truth Ann. You CAN NOT get sick by being in a bar. REALLY. You might get nauseous from smelling perfumes & after shave & the smell of beer may turn you off but you will not get sick from being in the bar. Honestly. No, the beer will not do you in unless you drink it.
  2. It's really hard to say. We are all different. Yours presents more like my hubs presents. His does that flattening but spreading out thing. When his does that things do get a little bit better but the danged stuff hangs on so freaking long. His go from that to crusting then flaring again then crusting then they get better but there are these deep seated ...
  3. You may not believe me but a ton of your chronic pain could be from celiac. I don't care what they dx'd you with pain wise ---- a lot or all could be from celiac. I was dx'd with DJD & DDD & was getting epidurals. Since going gluten-free --- haven't needed one. One yr. gluten-free now. Can't EVEN believe the difference!!!!! I was having such horrid...
  4. Cry me a river? Okay, I think you said you have a gluten-free household. So that's good. Does your hubs ever eat gluten or have gluten beer when away from home? You can get glutened by kissing him if he hasn't brushed his teeth well after having gluten. Do you have any pets? Cats & dogs should be fed gluten free food anyway but that will ensure...
  5. Stop worrying about getting enough vitamins, minerals, electrolytes --- stop! When your blood work comes back the doc can tell you what you need. Stressing yourself out is not going to do you any good & it will just use up those things you're worried about. Read this: You can't get well in a day. You didn't get sick in a day. And you will...
  6. Here are some things that are NOT good for the dh. NSAID's such as Advil & Aleve make the dh go crazy. I find that even Tylenol, if I'm not extremely judicious, will make my dh flare. I have also recently discovered that Vit C ( at least the pills) makes my dh go nuts! I have tested this & it really affects me.
  7. Awwww Sweetie, I feel your pain, I really do! I know the losing your ever loving mind itch. You can't think, you can't sleep, you can't cook, you can't eat for going insane with the incessant itching! You bite at anyone who says anything to you b/c the itch is consuming your brain & you can't deal with anything else at all. I don't know how going off...
  8. DF Ann, Okay, are you low iodine? Many of us have to go low iodine for a while to get the rash to calm down. Iodine really fires the rash --- it's documented in medical texts. For low iodine guidelines see: Open Original Shared Link As to the possible cross contamination issue. Read or re-read the newbie 101 as a refresher course. There is a link...
  9. Please be sure to read up & make sure the derm did the biopsy correctly BEFORE you go gluten free. The biopsy will become neg. pretty quickly after having gone gluten free so you don't want to have to go back on gluten to re-do a biopsy. Yes, a dx of dh is a dx of celiac. I had heart palpitations, horrid, at times completely debilitating joint &...
  10. I went to your profile & read some of your prior posts. So you are on Dapsone now? How long? How's it working for you? You know, you really should probably start a thread here on the dh forum so that others with dh can read & benefit from it. You don't have to retype everything out --- you can copy & paste pertinent info. or put links in to your...
  11. Welcome to the club. Welcome to the board. And (((((ANN)))))))
  12. Dear LJ, I am so sorry to hear about your dog. It's always hard to lose one. They are like our children and it rips our heart out just the same. (I know some one is going to rag on me about that but GET OVER IT! It IS like losing a child). And it takes time to heal from it. Sometimes I think we never fully heal from it. Big hugs to you & your hubby...
  13. It's almost impossible to get a dx when you have dh just so you know. Harder even than celiacs w/o dh. Derms are less informed than gastros it seems. Thanks for the info. on pasting photos.
  14. It's in lots of shampoos --- the tocopheryl acetate is supposed to be okay for us to use. YES! We have to read labels on EVERYTHING! It gets to be a drag.
  15. No LJ, I would not do it. But that's me. You have to make your own decision. I like gluten-free's idea of spreading the testing out over several weeks though.
  16. I can see where some would say the ears are psoriasis but I also know dh can look exactly like that & mine loves to get my ears too --- behind like your photos, inside the curves (those are a b%$@#), on the edges & mine especially love to get between the ear & scalp on top where the temples of my glasses sit. And I see some of the dried oozing...
  17. You better make darn sure that Vit E oil is not from wheat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. You're braver than I dear girl. Nuh uh ~~~ I wouldn't touch that one with a ten foot pole! Wishing you a fabulous, NON REACTIVE, New Years Eve & beyond!
  19. Well, it's quite clear from your experiments that gluten IS a problem! And it seems for all 3 kids. I looked at your photos in the dh photo bank & I hate to say it but I hate those mobile photo bucket things, they irritate the heck out of me as the photos are so small it's very difficult to tell much from them. All I can tell from them is that they could...
  20. This is the thread ampmomof3 spoke about. I will reply there since the bulk of the information is there.
  21. Maybe you ought to post that one in the "Stupid Stuff Doctors say" thread! No, you aren't the first & you won't be the last to be told it's all in your head. heck, even the celiacs who don't have dh get told that on a regular basis. Keep up with the Dapsone as long as it's okay for you & working & keep up the eating gluten free.
  22. This is like whole wheat bread - soft, yet grainy in a good way. It's called Bun in a Bowl & can be used for bread or burger buns. Here's the recipe: 1 large egg (for low iodine use 2 egg whites & no egg yolk) 2 Tbs. brown rice flour (you can sub white rice flour or sweet white rice flour) 1 Tbs. almond meal (you can sub cashew meal) 1 Tbs...
  23. Steroids, topical or oral will make a biopsy of the rash, or a celiac blood panel or an endoscopic biopsy NEGATIVE. No steroids should be used for 2 months prior to any testing. Yes, the op should have been referred to a dermatologist. And to top things off; generally celiacs with dh test neg. on the blood panel & endoscopic biopsy. AND for the...
  24. The above link is to an invaluable thread which will answer just about any question you have. And let me echo Ollie's Mom in what she said. Personally, my grocery bill has gone WAAAAAAAY down & I'm loving it!
  25. Ditto!
