  1. Oh man, my hubs would love having a conversation with you. LOL! Actually, I would too, truth be told. We discuss things like this all the time. Yeh, & those dogs who bark constantly from the time their owners go to work until their owners finally come home.... well, it worked didn't it? They came home! I totally believe it's possible what you're saying...
  2. Frankly I wouldn't touch barley grass with a 90 foot pole! I don't care what it says. Just how careful are they when they harvest it? Did any happen to go to seed or the beginnings of seed? Where was it grown? Somewhere that it had gone to seed in previous years or worse yet -- an old wheat field? What equipment is it harvested on? The same equipment as wheat...
  3. I have found that for me, it's been a case of be like a sapling & bend with the wind. At times it has been imperative to moisturize like crazy & then I get to points where moisturizing seems to make it worse --- bring up blisters rather than just bumps --- so I do what seems to work best at different stages of the game. For a long time it would have...
  4. YVW! No worries mate; everyone has to go at their own pace. We're here when you need it.
  5. Great big hugs ((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))))))))) Okay, breathe, just breathe. Your body is going through massive changes & it can be really wonky for (I hate to tell you this) months. You're probably going to go through gluten withdrawal & that's no fun at all --- been there, done that. You're doing right though judging by what you've...
  6. Ahhhhhhh, the Advil will get you & not just b/c it's sals. You might try Claritin or Benadryl or any antihistamine (gluten-free of course) & see if it helps with your itch. The bottom line is that dh can take a long time to get to the point where you know you're getting better. Like baby steps in super slow motion. You never know when you might...
  7. I agree with everything Prickly said. Well, right here, you can read about a woman who was strict gluten-free, low iodine for 2 full years & I still have dh. AND I was low sal for about 8 months. I continue to have dh that is always present somewhere on my body. BUT, it has gotten better & better & better. I now go hours & hours w/o a single...
  8. Nora, could you please provide a link or reference for that info.? This is the 1st time I've ever heard the biopsy should be taken far from a lesion or behind the knees or inside of elbows.
  9. Going low sal may help or it may not. I thought it was the ticket for me but in actuality it wasn't. The rash was just doing it's thing, waxing & waning which is typical for the rash; it just happened to be coincidence that when I first went low sal, the rash was going into a waning period. But we are all different & maybe low sal will help you....
  10. I disagree with this. Formulations/ingredients change. That's how people get in trouble...... just picking up what they've always used. Your mantra should be: EVERY LABEL, EVERY TIME. Forever.
  11. It's true, you can get them clean & then re-season them. Peter recently gave the method on a thread. I always cooked with cast iron but decided to get rid of mine when we went gluten-free b/c they are just getting too heavy for me to handle these days & we aren't getting any younger!
  12. Jamie, generally it's a good idea to not try even certified gluten-free oats for a year after going gluten-free so you may have tried it too soon. I can't answer your question as I just do it up in a pot for a couple days worth. Have you tried quinoa? It's so good for you. You can use stevia, nuts, raisins or other fruit in/on it.
  13. Who knows? You shouldn't have gone gluten-free at all before the biopsy. So if it's neg. then you won't know if it's neg. for real or false negative.
  14. On the 1st biopsy you had, the derm was checking for cancer & that means he took a biopsy directly ON the lesion. There was no biopsy for autoimmune or dh done so that biopsy doesn't count. The second biopsy doesn't count b/c you had been on steroids. He says he did a test for autoimmune but you had been on steroids --- this will make false negatives...
  15. I'm super pressed for time at the moment but will get back to you asap. A couple things for now. IF YOU WANT TO GET AN OFFICIAL DX OF CELIAC DO NOT STOP EATING GLUTEN. DO NOT EAT GLUTEN LIGHT. You will have to be off the oral steroids for about 3 months & the topical for a bare minimum of a month. It's very difficult to get a celaic dx when you have dh...
  16. Okay, 1st off, who dx'd you with AS? What kind of doc? What tests did he/she do? And why did you go to that doc in the first place? Can you detail that more for us please? And by AS, you mean ankylosing spondylitis right? Do these places itch BEFORE you notice anything there? You itch & look & there's nothing there????? Then later the "bite" comes...
  17. Anytime! YVW.
  18. There are many rashes associated with celiac disease so ........
  19. It's hard to say exactly. They could be. It certainly seems gluten is affecting you. Get off the gluten again & see what happens.
  20. Stress would be my guess.
  21. I agree with what the others said.
  22. My hubs had been having dh but he was sailing down the river of Denial. I knew what he had but he was not willing to admit it. Finally, he could ignore it no longer & had to admit dh was what it was. And for the first several weeks he only went gluten-free but kept the synthroid & iodine. His dh did improve some but well, dh is dh & makes you...
  23. I have to argue with that statement. There are many vodkas not made with wheat. All you have to do is Google it. Chopin is one. But regardless of that; the distillation process for hard liquor removes any gluten so let's not go promoting fear for lack of knowledge.
  24. Mac, make sure that multi vitamin is gluten-free. You can also eat yogurt --- greek is preferred b/c of the 5 live active cultures in it. Okay, so you cleaned out the kitchen & checked all the labels for ingredients. Now do it again. Why? Because things can be missed. It happened to me. I started in Sept. 2011 & thought I had everything figured...
