  1. Hooray for you SimonSez!!!!!! We're here to help you & hold your hand. We'll listen to you cry & cry along with you. We'll help throw a pity party with you. And we'll also celebrate with you when things improve. (((HUGS))))
  2. I agree with what everyone here says. I am a little different than them b/c I have the skin presentation of celiac disease & didn't have all the awful, extreme GI symptoms the others had --- instead I get a horrid blistering rash called dermatitis herpetiformis & that means I have celiac disease. But I still did have some GI symptoms like never ending...
  3. Yup, it worked & uh, that looks real familiar. When you go to the derm, try to have left something unscratched (ha-ha) so it can be biopsied. Scratching destroys the IGA pattern in the skin that they look for. I'm thinking the Epsom salts soak will work for you.
  4. YVW Josh. Itchy is what dh is for sure. It could be early dh --- then again..... If you can talk the derm into a biopsy that would be great. Mention the GI symptoms but also mention that those with dh tend to have fewer, milder GI symptoms & also test false negative on the celiac blood panel 60% of the time. It wouldn't hurt if you read this thread...
  5. Hi Josh, You really haven't given us much info. about how the rash reacts, what it feels like, when it itches if it does itch, etc.... so there's nothing we can sink our teeth into to give you any feedback about. It never hurts to rule out dh if you can get the derm to biopsy it properly. Ahhh, but that's the hard part. DH BIOPSY INFO. http://www...
  6. I hear that!
  7. I used Flicker b/c I couldn't figure out photo bucket either. Or you can post in this forum for help on loading things from Photobucket to the site https://www.celiac.com/forums/forum/44-boardforum-technical-help/ Epsom salts is not really salt. It is magnesium sulphate containing magnesium, sulfur & oxygen so no iodine. I soak a while & then...
  8. Yes, just copy/paste the links. Your grandma could have been celiac related cancer orrrrrr... not but yes, cancers of the abdominal area are more likely to be celiac associated (in families) than say breast or lung cancer if you follow? Remember, stopping the prednisone will 9 times out of 10 result in a punishment flare which is worse than an ordinary...
  9. MGR, If I were you, I would call myself celiac & go with the endo report which says you are & screw the specialist who says you aren't. Who is to challenge you especially if you have the endo report? Sounds like you surely have dh & that's throwing everything off as far as blood panel. The damage in our intestines tends to be patchier than celiacs...
  10. Elaine, Unless you're willing to eat gluten until you've been off prednisone for 2 months & THEN get a dh biopsy then no matter what; the dh biopsy will turn a false negative & then the doc will say you don't have dh or celiac & you'll never convince them otherwise. You are delaying the inevitable by continuing to take the prednisone. And that...
  11. crazyitch, BeckyB gave you great info.! If you read this entire thread & also the links contained in it then you will know just about all you need to know. But ask any questions okay? http://www.celiac.ni...Dermatitis.aspx forget what they say about it's location on the body --- that's bunk --- we who have it can tell you it appears anywhere it...
  12. crazyitch, I'm running right now to go make dinner but hang in there hon & I'll be back after dinner to give you info. You have to be eating gluten for the dh biopsy so don't stop eating it yet. There is more info. but just let me get back to you this evening. Until then, ((((HUGS))))!
  13. It can take up to 2 years or even longer for the antibodies to get out of the skin. That's why those of us with dh are truly rabid about not getting cc'd. The rash is sensitive to the tiniest amount of gluten & then you know what you get --- antibodies under the skin that will take ages to go away. I'm at 2 years & 2 months STRICT gluten-free on Feb...
  14. Big hugs to you sweetie! (((((HUGS)))))) If they did a celiac blood panel on you --- 60% of us with dh test false negative on the blood panel -- that's b/c the antibodies are in the skin (causing our dh - DUH!). And unless the skin biopsies were specifically looking for dh & NOT done right ON TOP OF a lesion then that's why they didn't know what it was...
  15. You'll probably always wonder. It's really hard to say. It could be & it could not be. It sounds like it very well might be when you describe it & how you ran out of the lecture & went for cold water & how you couldn't bear clothes on it plus the cracking noise when they burst --- I call it a popping sound but I could see it being described...
  16. Here you go: Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgA Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgG Anti-Endomysial (EMA) IgA Anti-Tissue Transglutaminase (tTG) IgA Deamidated Gliadin Peptide (DGP) IgA and IgG Total Serum IgA The DGP test was added recently to the full panel. Also can be termed this way: Endomysial Antibody IgA Tissue Transglutaminase IgA GLIADIN IgG GLIADIN IgA Total...
  17. I second that emotion.
  18. Pardon my last post. I meant Terrific as a response to Blaze's saying he was going with Silk Almond milk -- no carrageenan. Abby! Good for you! Mendylou, I really feel for you @ 3yrs. ((((HUGS)))) Okay. Blaze, now I know you must be a southerner!!!!!! Blackeyed peas for New Years --- you just gotta be from the south or your wife is. I'm in Fl...
  19. Terrific!
  20. If you're going to avoid iodine then read the ingredients. Almond Breeze has carrageenan (seaweed) which is one of the biggies that usually gets those of us who need to steer clear of iodine. You'll find many of those nut milks contain carrageenan. Open Original Shared Link
  21. No problem Blaze! Ask any questions you want. I realized after I posted that I may not have made everything as clear as I could have. Okay, for me & also for my hubs this is how the iodine would affect us: We would get many new blisters or lesions. We knew it was iodine b/c there were so many MORE suddenly popping up rather than "the usual". Places...
  22. When I say I tested iodine, I would eat high iodine foods --- cheese is my Achilles heel & so I would eat cheese a couple times a day for a few days & maybe have some yogurt too. Each time I tried; I would get a flare up in a couple days so I would go off the iodine rich foods again. I finally got to a point where I did not test it for 4 or 5 months...
  23. Thanks to both of you! Guess who is smiling also? Hubs has good news too in that he hasn't had any itchies in about 10 days --- all his skin is all healed up & you can't even tell he ever had anything. He's a happy camper!!!! Not to steal your thread Blaze......just letting you & everyone know that perseverance DOES pay off & there is an...
  24. Same here as Prickly only my problem with iodine lasted longer than Prickly's experience. I had to go low iodine for literally well over a year. I would keep testing it along the way & had to keep backing off of it. But since Sept., have been eating it to my heart's content & have no problems. I have not yet added back seafood or iodized salt but...
