Ditto this pretty much word for word. Lots of people use just plain coconut oil or olive oil as a moisturizer. Feels too much like oil to me. I use Vaseline Intensive Care Advanced Repair - it's unscented.

ARCHIVED Almost two months, symptoms still come and go
squirmingitch replied to Fbmb's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
You've gotten some good answers and I agree with them. Whole foods, non processed and things that are easy to digest are the foods that will allow you to heal more quickly without putting stress on your gut that it has to use to digest things other than whole food that is easily digestible. I will again repeat that it takes time. You had Marsh stage 3b, your... -
She did not receive the full celiac panel. This is so heartbreaking!!!! And makes me soooooooooooo angry!!!! This is the full panel: Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgA Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgG Anti-Endomysial (EMA) IgA Anti-Tissue Transglutaminase (tTG) IgA Deamidated Gliadin Peptide (DGP) IgA and IgG Total Serum IgA Also can be termed...

ARCHIVED Confused about DX
squirmingitch replied to Geckox's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
And as far a medical science has been able to figure yet, if you have NCGS it is a life long condition as well. You can't "cure" either celiac or NCGS. They are still researching NCGS to try & come up with a test for it but at this time there is none; they also suspect NCGS does neurological damage even though not damaging the gut like celiac or some... -

I'm going to repeat parts of what cyclinglady said...... If you were gluten free when they did the blood panel then it's a no brainer that you turned up negative. If they did not do the full celiac panel (6 tests) then you could have gotten missed. Get a copy of your labs they did & post them here along with the reference ranges. We can... -

In my opinion it's a good idea. It's just hard on your gut right now. -

99% positive that at your age ALL the damage is reversible. I won't say 100% positive b/c well, frankly, nothing in life is 100% right? Cyclinglady had Marsh stage 3b & she's a lot older than you. 55 now I think, right cycling? She's doing great! -
ARCHIVED Mc Cormick gluten-free Chili Mix?
squirmingitch replied to pdm1981's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I used the McCormick gluten-free chili mix and the taco seasoning. McCormick is a good company. I use Lea & Perrins Worcestershire. I'm in the US. As Karen says..... Canadian Worcestershire can be a different matter. -

You may be fine eating corn but popcorn is a whole other ball of wax even if one discounts the fat content of it. That stuff is danged difficult to digest!!!!! Those kernels!!!!!! Your gut hasn't healed enough yet to handle that kind of thing without letting you know about it. I'm not saying don't eat popcorn but expect things to be wonky after you do. Preferably... -

One can have have celiac disease AND also be allergic to wheat. Whoever told you that people who are allergic to wheat can not also be celiac is nuts! -
I agree with Karen. Plus, the Doritos are made from corn, hard, dry, corn. Corn is notoriously hard to digest, then make it dried corn, with a lot of additives & oil & then on top of all the other processed food you ate, you overloaded the system is what I'm thinking.

ARCHIVED Switching to Gluten Free for Toddlers?
squirmingitch replied to KatieB22's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
This is the full, current celiac blood panel. It's super important that your doc orders the complete panel as kids test weirder than adults. The DGP is most often the ones the little kids show up positive on so make that very clear to your doc. Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgA Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgG Anti-Endomysial (EMA) IgA Anti-Tissue Transglutaminase... -

ARCHIVED Could it be DH?
squirmingitch replied to Chemist89's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Rarely can the doc actually see the damage on the scope unless one has total villious atrophy. You will have to wait until the biopsies come back to find out. In the US that generally takes about 2 weeks but the timing in Italy could be different. -

You live in ITALY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And that's exactly how you can live WITH celiac disease if that's what you have. I was just thinking earlier about how celiac savvy Italy is. YES! ITALY, the land of all things pasta. I simply can not tell you how many times on this site I have read about celiacs from the US visiting Italy & posting the great... -

Okay, then the prednisone should not now skew your endoscopic biopsies. That's great that you guys get copies!!! Yay! Your low Vit D is telling as is the folates and your thyroid. Have they done a complete thyroid panel on you, including checking for Hasimotos? Reading your last post reminded me of something. VERY often those with dh will get a burning... -

Chemist, You're welcome! Did you take the prednisone for a long time period? When did you last take it? Are y'all allowed to get copies of your labs & pathology? If so, then start making it a habit to get them & keep them for future reference. Here's the current, full celiac panel: Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgA Anti-Gliadin ... -
ARCHIVED Gut damage but blood test negative

Uh YEH, if the doc could actually SEE that your gut was smooth through the scope that's big time!!! Shame on that nurse. Lactose intolerance doesn't cause villi damage. I would certainly imagine the biopsies will be positive with that extent of damage. -
ARCHIVED Could it be DH?
squirmingitch replied to Chemist89's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hey Chemist! Your symptoms certainly indicate you need to be checked for celiac disease. Did the doctor say how many biopsies he would be taking? I hope 4 to 6, preferably 6. So none of the docs have done a celiac serum (blood) panel on you? IgE is not a celiac panel - it's strictly for allergies. Okay, your rash could be or could not be dermatitis... -

Also, did they do biopsies when they were in your gut? That's what they should have done & the biopsies get sent to pathology to determine celiac disease or not. -
