ARCHIVED 1 week gluten-free and I'm frustrated
squirmingitch replied to Fbmb's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
You're welcome. Yep, just get used to expecting this to be wonky for a while. It's too early to say how sensitive you are just yet. However, be kind to your poor old gut & stay on the bland side of foods rather than going for things like tomato sauce & hot peppers & such as that. Corn is tough to digest too so you might want to steer clear... -
ARCHIVED withdrawal from gluten
squirmingitch replied to tammi22's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Dishes are okay. You said they've been washed so no worries. Stainless pots & pans are okay too as long as they were scrubbed real well so no residue remains. Scratched teflon has to go! Get new. No wooden spoons left over from gluten days -- ditch them & get new. New colander/strainers, new cutting board. You could be having gluten withdrawal... -
ARCHIVED Dating and celiac disease

Good ideas ironictruth has there. I will only add to search for people who have food allergies. They should understand. -
Hi & welcome to where you never knew you didn't want to be. You most certainly should get dh biopsies! From reading what you wrote, you've done your homework. Hallelujah! It's so nice when people have done some research. Good girl for not taking the prednisone. Yay! The doxy is okay to take. You know to keep eating the horrid gluten until testing...

ARCHIVED New to the group, diagnosed 3 years ago
squirmingitch replied to pdm1981's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I use Bertoli or Pompeian olive oils with no issues. Pompeian wine vinegar. Pasta sauce is so easy to make yourself. A can of tomato sauce, a can of petite diced tomatoes (I use Hunts), some olive oil, a chunk of butter, oregano, basil, chopped onions & garlic, a bay leaf & a tsp. of sugar, salt. Get it hot & let it simmer for 5 or 10 min... -

Thank you for the thoughts AWOL! I surely hope you can straighten everything out soon. I'm so sorry this journey has been such a wrenching trial for you. I applaud that you have not given up. ARCHIVED Relief! And it isn't Dapsone!
squirmingitch replied to squirmingitch's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
60% of those with dh test negative on the celiac blood panel. I know that in Canada, it seems the PC docs are only allowed to do the basic screening which is just 2 of the 6 in the complete panel. This is why I worry for you. I think the GI's are able to do the full panel BUT with your not having been consistently eating gluten for the past 12 weeks, coupled...- 47 replies

ARCHIVED Relief! And it isn't Dapsone!
squirmingitch replied to squirmingitch's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
stephm, I read your reply on another thread where you mentioned going off gluten & then back on gluten & off again? The fastest way to a dx if one has dh is a skin biopsy. A dx of dh is a dx of celiac, no further testing needed BUT the derm has to know what they're doing! The biopsy MUST be taken on a clear area adjacent to an active lesion NOT on...- 47 replies

ARCHIVED 1 week gluten-free and I'm frustrated
squirmingitch replied to Fbmb's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Okay sweetie, here we go again. Don't go off into scenario world. Just stop. Do not worry about anything but celiac right now. Forget SIBO or anything else. You're only TWO WEEKS into the diet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TWO WEEKS!!!! The damage wasn't caused in 2 weeks & you won't heal in 2 weeks. It might be a whole year before you have consistently normal... -

ARCHIVED What to eat now?
squirmingitch replied to Fbmb's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Processed foods are processed foods no matter if they're gluten free or not - they all have bad crap in them, additives & stuff. When we begin the gluten-free diet it's b/c our guts are damaged. The goal is to heal. We tell people to eat only whole foods for at least 6 months for several reasons. One is until you learn the diet - whole foods are not going... -

ARCHIVED gluten-free Nuts
squirmingitch replied to plumbago's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I and many others do Nuts.com. Great company! Try their goji squares, you'll swallow your tongue. Ennis, I have no answer on cashews and since pistachios always come with the shell split, I have no answer on those either HOWEVER, Nuts.com has macadamia nuts in the shell so you could get those & you could even wash them off before cracking them open... -

ARCHIVED endo. results - confused!
squirmingitch replied to Fbmb's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Great info. from RMJ. 2 thumbs up for her! Fbmb, I'm surprised there wasn't a Marsh stage rating on the report. They usually "grade" it by a "Marsh stage classification". Ah ha! Here's a nice explanation of the Marsh classifications: Open Original Shared Link So let me see if I can kind of glean (I'm not a doctor so take it for what it's worth... -
You're very welcome! It's weird that the test in 2012 had such a high positive but the one this year was even steven. You do need to get to the bottom of this one way or the other. Unfortunately what the Ped doc did is not all that uncommon. Between my husband & myself, we've found test results that were red flags but the doc had never mentioned...

ARCHIVED endo. results - confused!
squirmingitch replied to Fbmb's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Let me put it this way..... Us old geezers who didn't get dx'd until we were in our 50's & 60's get well when we know we've had it for ohhhhhhhhhhh 30, 40, 50 years or more. You're 29, that, believe it or not, is young. The younger one is the faster you heal. QUIT obsessing!!!! You wrote that. You've said what an awesome GI he is. STOP gnawing... -

I understand. I just thought I might be able to bring you back down to earth. LOL! My husband has unbelievable anxiety & I know how fast people can shoot to the moon & beyond and sometimes it can take sort of a verbal slap in the face to get through the person's "anxiety brain moonshot". Wait, don't think you've had this for 29 years. We aren... -

Whoaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, settle down. Breathe, just breathe. You're going to be fine. I can interpret most of it and it sounds pretty close to every other celiac pathology report I have seen. Lymphocytes are just a form of small leukocyte (white blood cell) with a single round nucleus. Doesn't mean lymph cancer okay? Intraepithelial means within the... -

squirmingitch replied to squirmingitch's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
I have NEVER said that I believe celiac is actually a "Neurological disease" and I NEVER said I had "psychosomatic reactions". I did say that I considered the possibility that I was having psychosomatic reactions and many of us have reported neurologic aspects. If this is an example of what you read into things & twist things around then why in the...- 47 replies
