  1. We used Prometheus Labs. You can get test kits for free on line. You take the kit to the doctor, he draws the blood and the test kit is sent to Prometheus. You do nothing. The doctor will take care of sending it. You should have your results in about a week. Prometheus is highly rated and works the R.O.C.K. walk/runs for celiac disease research every...
  2. browse through posts here at Celiac.com. There are numerous food lists from posters of foods found in regular food stores that are gluten free. The parents of kids section here has lots of food lists as does the section on Gluten free products. Open Original Shared Link This site^^^ is great for gluten free breads, donuts, pizza crusts, bagels....
  3. Kids that young generally come up negative on the current tests. It's best to try the diet 100%-no cheating or it doesn't show any results.... Kids under the age of 5 aren't testing well with the current tests, so dietary challenge is the route you should go. I recommend the book Dangerous Grains for a better understanding of Gluten grains in the diet...
  4. Both should be fine.
  5. What were you worried about? The citric acid? Just wondering.
  6. Open Original Shared Link This site has great gluten free foods. Best to stick with labeled GLUTEN FREE products at first so you can see if there's an improvement in your child. Even tiny crumbs cause a full reaction. No improvement unless 100% gluten free. Check his shampoo and lotions as well. Do not stir your gluten full noodles with the same spoon...
  7. I don't add breadcrumbs. I add chopped onions and greenpeppers, garlic salt and a half a cup of spaghetti sauce. Cook it till browned, then dump more spaghetti sauce on top and serve. It's so good.
  8. I cleaned out a very low shelf that had had pots and pans in it when my son went gluten free. It had all of his finger foods *he was three, as well*. I made a big deal about how these were HIS foods and if he wanted a snack, he could go get one himself. I marked his name on all of the containers as a back-up of what exactly was his. Ultimately, I ended...
  9. oh, I love that show. I never miss the show, but I missed that line.
  10. Well, extracurricular activities don't need to be physical. My daughter (8) takes art classes. My son (7) just finished up an acting class. My Celiac kid never had emotional issues. I'm not sure what they would center around for an extended period of time. Kids usually "move on" quickly because their attention spans are not as developed as an adult's...
  11. Open Original Shared Link This is the best pbcookie recipe because it's easy, easy to modify *add stuff, change ingredients*, kids can help, Taste Great.
  12. Really? That's nuts. I didn't know that.
  13. OMG...no. Not larabars!!! Blech!
  14. I had yeastie-beastie issues until my Nurse Practioner prescribed me three concurrent doses of Diflucan. I took one dose, waited three days, took the second dose, waited three days... took the third dose. Killed that beast dead. I got another YF three years later and took two doses in a row. None since. Also, never, ever wear pants twice. Seriously...
  15. Kinnikinnick makes bagels that are good. I don't like their version of cinnamon raisin anything. We eat the lifestream wildberry waffles every day. I like them with pb. Kinnikinnick also makes good donuts. Very filling. Cake like, not light and airy. Fill you till you're sick. We slap extra frosting on them. Pillsbury makes gluten free chocolate...
  16. If you want to stick with these brands, call and verify the gluten status or look on line to see if they elaborate on the source of the starches there. Once you find out their policy, you'll know what you can and can't keep. Some items may need to be replaced with gluten free versions. I use 100% maple syrup for my syrup... it's easier that way. Caramel...
  17. First of all, the maker of all that teflon is under scrutiny for the chemicals used in making it's product. There are lawsuits pending, the poor people who lived near the plant that produced the teflon are undergoing studies to see if the chemicals in the water around the plant poisoned them... Teflon is poison. Google dupont and teflon and see what the...
  18. Oh. I haven't tried it. Maybe there are different brands and some are less bitter? Can you have honey? Just curious. They should make a sweetener out of the "stuff" in honeysuckles.... have they done that yet??? Open Original Shared Link Here's another all natural sweetener.
  19. Open Original Shared Link Stevia isn't a man-made chemical concoction. I don't quite understand why they haven't just ok'd it.. unless it's about killing the sugar industry if Stevia is a truely safe alternative. Anyone else using it?
  20. Skin reactions or DH are rare. The problem with a non DH celiac and creams or shampoos is the accidental ingestion. I've rubbed my celiac kid down with wheaty creams *not knowing they had wheat* and he had no reaction. The thing is, I was putting it on his dry elbows and he wasn't licking them. If you have celiac disease and use a cream or shampoo with...
  21. The voice of reason^^^^^^ We should heed her excellent advice. I'm hard-wired to enjoy these "snarky" back and forths. I could go on all day.... or until the admin guy sends me a warning..... If you feel you need to continue this exchange of philosophies with me...please send me an email.
  22. Heeeeyyy..... You're the poster who said you want to slap people for over-filling their nachos.... Yeah. You're not prone to over reacting.
  23. I posted some food choices in your other post. You can find all you need in a regular store. I don't cook or bake from scratch other than Chebe which is as difficult as Bisquick. If you like cooking, there are many good cooks here who will tell you their favorite bread recipes, etc. If not, WholeFoods has many great frozen products that will make up for...
