ARCHIVED Joint Pain/ Aches
Jnkmnky replied to covsooze's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Gluten causes inflammation. My son was in terrible pain prior to going gluten free. He was only three years old. He moved about like an 80 year old. He was pain free quickly after going gluten-free. -

ARCHIVED Confused On Symptoms. Need A Little Help.
Jnkmnky replied to shayesmom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I asked this question recently because so many adults dxed later in life as Celiac, have additional problems. My son, dxed at 3, has NO other problems or food allergies or intolerances. I was wondering if the HYPER sensitive, older, later dxed Celiacs attributed their health to a late dx. I wondered if my son might be able to be accidently glutened, (very... -
Maybe you could contact Danna Korn. She runs the group R.O.C.K. which is all over the country now. It's about raising celiac disease kids, so maybe not for you, but she may give you advice on what you need to do. Google her or a link to her web site is here somewhere. Plus, she responds. Very nice. AAAANNND, she does the celiac disease walks every...

ARCHIVED Store Bought Gluten-free Bread Recommendations?
Jnkmnky replied to chestnut's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Open Original Shared Link We like the white sandwich bread. All of their products are great. Pizza crusts, donuts, bagels, *not the cinnamon raisin, inmyopinion.... the K-Toos are so much like an oreo that I actually looked for the words, "Gluten free" just to be sure. OOh! and the Chocolate chip muffins are to die for. Believe me, this bread... -
ARCHIVED Confused On Symptoms. Need A Little Help.
Jnkmnky replied to shayesmom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Celiac disease is a life-long intolerance to gluten. It's an auto immune disease. If your child had a gluten problem.... and not just a "wheat" problem.... It was more than likely Celiac Disease all along. There are 200 + symptoms associated with celiac disease. It looks like many things and is often misdiagnosed, though QUITE common with accepted statistics... -
ARCHIVED He Got Gluten...
Jnkmnky replied to cherie012's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Sorry, but I can't imagine that happening at all. Now, if it said, "wheat free" - that would make sense. Nothing that has barley, is going to say "gluten free". You'll have to double check that box. You certainly sound like a celiac who has gone far too long with no dx. This is what happens when your immune system is constantly turned on. I recommend... -
ARCHIVED Glutened At Christmas Party
Jnkmnky replied to Kenster61's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You have to change your thinking. It's not about them "getting it". It's about you taking on the responsibility 100%. No one is going to learn this stuff along with you. Only a spouse will do this for you.... and even some of them are unwilling to learn all that is necessary. Every social function you attend that is going to have food is now B.Y.O.F... -
ARCHIVED Eating Out In Worcester, Ma
Jnkmnky replied to jessika393's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Check the web for Outback Steakhouses in the area, and Wholefoods has all of their store locations by state listed on their site. That's the best way. Look up Henry's, Boney's, and Trader Joe's, as well. When you get in touch with one place, ask them to direct you to other health food stores in the area. -
ARCHIVED He Got Gluten...
Jnkmnky replied to cherie012's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
A celiac has to be 100% gluten free in order to avoid the other auto-immune diseases, future intolerances, additional allergies... poor health. It is possible to be 100% gluten free. It is essential for a celiac to be 100% gluten free. You and your spouse should have blood work done to determine if either one of you is also gluten intolerant..or... -
ARCHIVED New And Wondering About N.a.e.t.
Jnkmnky replied to momonamission's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Just put everything else on hold for now. Has your child had the blood test for Celiac? Once he's had his blood drawn, put him on a 100% gluten free diet. No mistakes-- they're not an option. Give it two weeks or so, and make your best determination as to whether or not you think this is an area you should persue based on positive results. Don't add... -

I was neg for celiac disease and all sensitivities. Which lab did your tests? Some are better than others. I was dealing with Endometriosis and put on a regimine of motrin and vicodin for the pain. I took the prescriptions and went gluten free that minute. All of my pain went away. I've since tested my theory, and was proven right. Gluten is causing... -

EnerG has a cracker called "wheat free CRACKERS". So much like a saltine, you can close your eyes and really think you're eating an actual saltine. Open Original Shared Link Kinnikinnick has a new cookie called K-toos. Perfect Oreo replacement. Trust me on this one. Not anything like those nasty midels. Blach! -

Hey, my celiac son is a little off, too! Don't worry too much yet. My son was not making word=picture associations in his brain when language should have been developing due to the fuzz in his brain from the leaky gut/opiate. He's very off-beat in a cool way. He's more of an observer, but he launches into great imaginative tales and reveals just what...

ARCHIVED Need A Quick Awesome Cake Mix/recipe..
Jnkmnky replied to cherie012's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I know about the PC! I used "spirit foam" and spray painted the back window of my van with giant "MERRY CHRISTMAS!" this weekend. I'm so sick of the news reports telling of another *conflict* caused by the words, "Merry Christmas". I'm waiting to be told I can't park on public streets with those two offensive words displayed on the back of my van....
