ARCHIVED Negative Serology - Disappointed
Ninja replied to lesliev523's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I assume that you have or are going to start supplementing for those vitamin deficiencies? Both are super important, however the B's (specifically b12) can cause a myriad of symptoms and make everything worse. Low B12 is not something to mess around with -
The thing is, you could literally drive yourself insane trying to figure out why your body reacts the way it does. What has helped me the most is telling myself that yes, I obviously reacted to something but I don't necessarily need to know what it was. It would be nice to know... but I know that usually when I've reacted it's because I've strayed from known...

Dryer sheets?! Actually, well, I can't act surprised because mine likes pumice stones, soap and shavers. I have a bunch of grass grazers over here so I know how that goes....

Oh man — we better not start with the "what did your dog eat stories"... buttttttt one of my dogs ate an entire loaf of fresh cheddar onion bread. We suffered the consequences later that night... They also go for the butter.

 This sounds soooo familiar! The grill and the cutting board (mine pulls out of the counter) are both VERY well taken care of.

Oops! - your cat was as sick as a dog... Not your cat is a dog. I'm glad your CAT is doing much better

Thanks! Yes - dog food is so tricky... But I really glutened myself: I gave them those treats that look like vanilla Oreos from Petco on Easter, because well, it was Easter! Not even 10 seconds later I got a 'kiss' directly on my mouth... I learned my lesson.. Takala: WOW! I'm so glad you looked at it more closely - I cant believe that. :/ Your...

I feel so much gratitude towards everyone on this forum. You have all been so incredibly supportive and helpful, I can't thank each of you enough. I am finally feeling like I am on the road to recovery. I had been pet sitting and didn't realize their food had gluten in it until after the fact ( I saw a bag of orijin and figured that was what was in the...

Yes they do!! I am so sorry about your son, I assume he is doing better now?

I totally agree about the benefits of diagnosis!! It can change lives. It's not so much the misdiagnosis rate but the way the misdiagnosis is handled for me: denial from the specialists, closed minded thinking, little to no collaboration, etc. Of course this isn't the case with all.
-
Something else to take into account: specialists don't always act or diagnose like specialists should... Look at the trouble people go through with celiac...

There's a little button on the home page of the Celiac forum website (upper right hand corner). If you press it a drop down of options will present. One of them is messenger.

Celiac is associated with kidney stones. My limited knowledge tells me that in the gut calcium binds with the excess fats (not absorbed due to untreated celiac) and leaves an excess amount of oxalate molecules. Those molecules travel to the kidneys and bind with the calcium there to be filtered out and expelled through the urine. (Missing some specifics and...

ARCHIVED My Sweet Ally Tore Her Ccl... :(
Ninja replied to Ninja's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Thank you both! I will watch her tail. They aren't totally aware of its length, are they? I asked the vet what he suggested but in the heat of the moment forgot to ask him why. Oh yes, she needs the surgery.... I would just like to get it right the first time for her sake! I belong to a really awesome Golden Retriever forum -
ARCHIVED Mood Swings After Contamination?
Ninja replied to PadmeMaster's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Oh yes!!! You could touch me wrong and I'd probably be on your case about it after being cc'd or glutened. All of the not so great emotions, irritability, sadness, impatience, frustration ALL seem to attack at once and leave me essentially out of commission for about a week. It's almost like being a werewolf on the night of a full moon. -
I have quite an off topic question.... Well after months of hoping Ally (Golden Retriever) would get better I finally took her in yesterday. She injured her knee a few years ago but her CCL was only partially torn so we opted to go the conservative route. She healed extremely well. She re-injured a few months ago trying to get out of the car. The vet sedated...

ARCHIVED Owww...please Say It Gets Better!?!?
Ninja replied to Cujy's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My GI doctor says that kidney issues (stones or otherwise) can be caused by Crohn's. The blood and cramping (in bouts), too... how were you dx'd with Celiac? -
ARCHIVED Owww...please Say It Gets Better!?!?
Ninja replied to Cujy's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Is the pain localized to any specific area? What does the pain feel like? Shards of glass, burning...? -
I am not in any position to judge whether or not those labels were/are accurate or not. I was/am simply relaying information I've been told from them: In one case, the Aspergers was diagnosed on the basis of a one visit/consultation with a psychologist and the observation of poor social skills. The ADD was diagnosed based on behavior inside of the...

It is my opinion that the label only works because of the way our culture perceives differences. If an entire school district changed the way their kids viewed geeks/nerds or kids with LD's and just allowed the child to be him/herself giving assistance when required, things might be different... Labeling is "playing the game." Of course playing the game is...

Sweet potatoes are yuuuummmmmyyy (my palate changed drastically after going gluten-free!?)! So glad you were able to add them back

ARCHIVED Celiac And Edema (In So Much Discomfort!)
Ninja replied to Emilem's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hey Emilem -
I so agree with you Ravenwood! The question that I feel should always be asked is: are the child's quirks getting in the way of the CHILD living his/her life? If so, a label could certainly improve the quality of the child's life. I don't like that ADHD and/or ADD medication is being given to children who obviously do not have ADHD/ADD. The adults in their...

According to the new range, 3.0 should be the cut off for TSH.
