  1. That's great!! Praying for some answers for you and your DD. ~Laura
  2. Please don't let them make you feel like you are making a big deal out of nothing! It's not you, it's them. If they were put in your situation I'm sure they would feel very differently. The idea is that you cannot trust them even if they maybe decide not to tamper with your food/stuff. You need to be able to trust that your stuff will stay safe... especially...
  3. UKGail: I sincerely hope that fate decides to keep you healthy. ;-) Thanks for satiating my curiosity guys! ~Laura
  4. To be totally honest: you need to decide what it will take to keep your body safe from these people (who to talk to, not going, etc). Believe me, I am definitely someone that doesn't like to make a big fuss about things but this is a big deal! In the long run they don't matter, but your health does! Have you tried asking them why they care? Have their...
  5. So how many of you suffer (or suffered) from recurrent illnesses? Did they lessen after going gluten-free? I get sick really easily
  6. Sorry to have interrupted this thread! Thank you!
  7. Teknolen: Just curious, what kind of vitamin D drops are you using?
  8. burdee: Thank you!
  9. After all the testing is done and over with for you I would suggest you try a gluten-free diet trial
  10. Since Celiac is an autoimmune disease and not an allergy... I would imagine that the autoimmune response gluten stimulates could last long after all of the particles of gluten leave the body. Domino effect maybe? However it would eventually subside... Whether or not your body could take that might be another story though. ;-) HTH! Disclaimer: This is...
  11. Thanks! I'm not sure about the water either but I'd rather be safe than sorry! The pain in my bladder finally went away yesterday. I've been drinking so much water
  12. Ah. Have you done the genetic testing? She wouldn't have to be off of gluten for that either. Also, if they haven't been checked already you could ask for a complete vitamin and mineral panel to help assess any possible malabsorption issues
  13. If she decides to do a gluten challenge for the blood test I would also suggest she have the biopsy done. That way you haven't gone through the trouble for nothing! If she does decide to do the biopsy, make sure you have a trustworthy doctor who takes enough biopsies and investigates beyond the duodenum! Good luck! Keep us posted. ~Laura
  14. Thank you so much! Luckily I have another very supportive PCP (albeit clueless) who would most certainly be willing to order the entire panel. I stopped consuming gluten about 5 weeks ago and am avoiding dairy most of the time
  15. Thank you! I didn't think the one test would suffice, but I am new to the thyroid world! This may be a silly question but: does the normal FREE T4 value have any predictive qualities with regard to the other thyroid tests? More simply: is it common to have a normal Free t4 value but abnormal counts for the other thyroid tests?
  16. So I FINALLY got the most recent blood test results. A few things that stick out: Potassium is good — 4.8 Ref. Range (3.4-5.1) Calcium is also good — 9.1 Ref. Range (8.4-10.2) Sodium — 139 Ref. Range (135-145) Chloride — 102 Ref. Range (98-107) CO2 — 25 Ref. Range (21-32) ANION GAP — 17 Ref. Range (10-20) Creatine is slightly elevated which makes...
  17. I've had the most luck with a naturopathic M.D. Unfortunately he is out of our network so I was only able to see him once. However, I would take his recommendation for a GI doctor over my own PCP's... He looked at things very holistically and flat out told me that he believes there is an underlying reason for all pain. Pain should not be an everyday occurrence...
  18. I think he needs to understand what is going on inside of HIS body. Teenager-hood tends to bring out the "I'm invincible" attitude, especially when there is an opportunity to prove something. I would suggest (if feasible) you try showing him pictures of the damage to the villi in his small intestine... assuming he had a biopsy. I think things need to become...
  19. This is really interesting! I've always had swollen lymph nodes (with illness and without)
  20. Thank you for all of the information! It definitely seems to feel better if I have a full bladder. I've been drinking the filtered water from my fridge. I'm surprised it hasn't run out of water yet (lol)! Does the pain in your bladder feel like a spasm?
  21. Thank you for the information! I will definitely check it out. I am so close I figured I might as well use it (if it is as good as it seems). ~Laura
  22. Hi, You guys have been so incredibly helpful and patient! So thank you! Those of you who have had kidney stones: have you ever had one stuck in the urethra? I went to the ER 2 nights ago with severe left flank pain and bladder pain. I declined the CAT scan, but the urinalysis showed calcium oxalate crystals, trace blood and elevated red blood cells...
  23. The other day I had to take home 2 boxes of caramel delight girl scout cookies. OMG, how I wanted even just one of those cookies so badly. I didn't and I guess that's because I was afraid of how my body would react after being (vigilantly) gluten free for 5 weeks. I definitely don't want to start over! My understanding is that your symptoms may subside within...
  24. I'm in SE Wisconsin (halfway between Madison and Milwaukee). Not far from Rockford!
