  1. Don't doubt yourself! Your symptoms are very real and many of us suffer from the those same ones. Follow your gut (pardon the pun). Having affirmation from a doctor is nice, but many doctors don't have any idea about the vast array of issues Celiac can cause. They're out of their league. On top of that, the blood tests have a 20-30% false negative...
  2. I can completely relate! *hugs* The chocolate and cheesecake and pie and cookies and and and.... You'll get there.
  3. Gluten can be like an opioid. There's no rule on how long it takes to "detox" (as far as I know)... especially if you've had a few gluten-y treats here and there along the way.
  4. THANK YOU for mentioning this! Again, some things I never really realized were broadened to AI diseases. And this is why young people like Aerial will live long and healthy lives (I hope!).
  5. Well, it also depends on where your veggies/fruit are coming from. I can't eat zucchini at any point during the year without problems... same with honeydew and cantaloupe. Birch is a big one to be allergic to!
  6. That's awesome that you are doing so much to keep your body healthy. I'm sure it doesn't feel like it now, but in the long run you'll be better for it. A thought that struck me was: nothing in life is permanent unless you believe it to be. Yes, money makes things ridiculously hard and sickeningly competitive, but the idea is that YOU have the power to...
  7. This is such a great story! It's funny how when you remove something that is truly toxic from your household everything ELSE seems to flourish, too. Thanks for sharing.
  8. Do you have any environmental allergies? It could be that you are cross-reacting to the pollen that is invariably left on the fruits and veggies. Most people say that if the fruits and veggies are cooked they don't have a problem, but when pollen is at its peak, I still get symptoms. It's formally known as Oral Allergy Syndrome. I know OAS can cause all kinds...
  9. I think the only thing you can do is take one step at a time, but realize that celiac is an ai disease and could potentially give you more ai diseases. As pricklypear1971 was saying, it's not a stand alone disease, but rather, when one thing goes wrong another becomes much more likely to occur. It works like genetic mutations: Trisomy 21, aside from causing...
  10. I use Digest Spectrum by Enzymedica. I've used it after I've been glutened or cc'd and it seems to help.. granted it doesn't nearly take away the symptoms, but it does help. Ideally, you'd anticipate a potential glutening and take one beforehand though..
  11. This sounds great! I can't wait until something like this becomes a regular practice. Yay science!!
  12. Very true. There's a lot to learn about them, too.
  13. Yes, I was referring to birth control pills. I know that gluten is a huge part of the puzzle, but not the whole thing. It's like peeling an onion, or playing jenga (if you've played it). However, I never Really realized it. It may sound incredibly stupid, but I never quite internalized that the problem I was trying to solve was myself. Understanding...
  14. May I ask why? Is it their ignorance, dismissive behavior, the fact that they will never truly understand, their seemingly fake sympathy, ...? You didn't go through Crohn's testing for those other people, nor did you eliminate gluten for anyone other than yourself. You have sought health for YOURSELF and that is admirable. These people that ignite fire...
  15. Hmm... that sounds both convincing and delicious......
  16. I think that is a fantastic idea! It could be a good Celiac Disease teaching moment...
  17. Aww, it's always gotta be the utensils. Yes, I am having a very Monday blues-y type day. It's been overcast for the past 3 days here, thunder storming intermittently... Well, I brought my dog home on Saturday after her knee surgery – you see, she is supposed to REST and HEAL. Not happening – the thunder is really spooking her, she doesn't know whe...
  18. Thank you for the suggestions! I think it's got to be part of the carb craving and my blood sugar because having a small amount of semi sweet chips last night really helped make things "right." It seems to stabilize for awhile and then swing low again. I wonder if this could have anything to do with hormones? About a month after I went gluten-free I got this...
  19. Poor girl comes home and the first night there's thunderstorms... and again tonight. "Weather, you aren't helping Ally's mindset!!"
  20. Thanks prickly! I hadn't quite put it all together, but after considering the foods that seem to satisfy me, it makes total sense. Things like KIND bars.. Sometimes it feels like I could fit an entire cow in there... The cravings are the worst
  21. You're right; I used to be able to eat and eat and eat without gaining... eventually it would catch up but it would take close to 3000 calories a day for 2 months... and believe me I am not the tallest person in the world. That's exactly it: carb craving! I've always had issues balancing my carb intake with protein, so that makes sense. My TSH...
  22. This may just be my ignorance: split peas. I know of someone else who found that there was wheat in her sweet tea..
  23. Hi guys
  24. I have heard the same thing! They are super conscious of cross contamination issues, too. Have a BLAST!
  25. Haha is right! She is such a trooper!... she's munching on a carrot at the moment.
