  1. Wow, that's great (and convenient)! Maybe your PCP will dx you? It seems that you have enough 'evidence'!
  2. Thanks for responding, Dani - I need to be told (and whacked over the head) over and over that I am not dreaming up this rash! Is yours starting to get better? Mine has been A LOT better since we banned regular bread (and bread products/crumbly things) from the house & the low-iodine. Doesn't make the padre happy though.. at all.
  3. Personally, I think your derm is acting identically to the GI doctors who won't diagnose Celiac unless there is *complete* villous atrophy. You have IGA in your skin and the rash responds to gluten-free – I say you've got your answer! Alternatively, you could try to send your biopsies to a celiac center for further review. A celiac expert may be more w...
  4. I just wanted to share this with you: I LIVED on gluten, essentially. Even though I felt awful, it was my normal. Two days after I went gluten-free I had NO cravings. None. My entire palate changed (for the better)! So, if your DD does have to go gluten-free, it may not be as bad as you think.
  5. ciamarie: Thanks for the reminder! I did switch to dove after the rash on my forehead showed up. Switching definitely helped. There's so much to remember to look for! Squirmingitch: It is a mystery. However, I do hope it doesn't take 10 yrs for the antibodies to clear out. We need some uninterrupted and peaceful sleep!
  6. Hi Amie – Welcome to the board! Here's an awesome thread that may help you: "Newbie Info 101" Ask as many questions as you need/want to, we're all here to help! It will get easier, especially once you start to feel better.
  7. Hmm... good point! Do you think it 'itches' while we are sleeping and unconscious...? and as we fall into a lighter sleep we can feel it more, which is why we are sometimes woken by the itch? On the other hand, It doesn't seem like it discriminates between REM and the other phases.

    ARCHIVED Periods

It takes a long time for the body to heal from all the damage and inflammation gluten/Celiac has caused. It's like a giant wound
  9. Ahh... so that's how they do it. They make it look so easy!

    ARCHIVED Periods

I had this happen too! Not right away, but a few months after going gluten-free. I would still get bad cramps beforehand, which totally disappeared after eliminating gluten, along with a lighter period. Maybe it has something to do with the inflammation messing with the hormones??
  11. Digestive enzymes help me with the bloating! I've also found it helps to limit your diet to known safe foods
  12. Oh squirmingitch, I hope your DH continues to improve. It's gotta be awful to have the little buggers pop up when they shouldn't be. They really do have a mind of their own, don't they?! No worries, I'm of the camp: the more technical the better! Looking forward to reading it

    ARCHIVED A Biopsy

Here is a link that lists everything that can be a symptom, or related disorder of Celiac: Open Original Shared Link
  14. Squirmingitch: I had NO idea iodine was in so many things. Now that I think about it, it makes sense given that it is an essential nutrient. Wow, no wonder! I kind of just figured non-iodized salt and limiting seafood/fish would do it – I guess I was horrendously mistaken! Thank you for the link. So you'd go low iodine for a week or two and then consume i...
  15. It is very yummy. I like to watch Top Chef occasionally.. and they recently started a shoot-off of it called Top Chef Desserts. I cannot believe how the contestants can bake such a huge variety of desserts without recipes.
  16. Squirmingitch: thank you for the link. I had no idea that DH could present after going gluten-free. It seems like most people go gluten-free because of the rash vs. develop the rash as an effect of accidental exposure after having been gluten-free. Does your rash get irritated by sea salt? I hope it's not 10 years!
  17. I'm so happy to hear that you are doing better! I know it's tough to get through the rough spots, which seem like more than "spots" sometimes (or most times), but it's great when all of your hard work begins to pay off. Kudos to you for finding out what works for you
  18. That's fantastic! Congratulations on finding a cure for your little one. It's so nice when we can reap the rewards right away!
  19. Hi all
  20. YUM! Adding flax sounds like a great idea. I've taken to strawberry/raspberry/lemonade smoothies. Nutritionally, maybe not so great... but boy is it good! I now see how "winging" it is more fun than following a recipe!
  21. Kids are incredibly resilient
  22. My reactions are sort of like that: I typically have the same group of symptoms, but sometimes they go in a completely different order (if that makes sense). I attribute it to my healing gut – things are changing there so of course it could reflect in your symptoms. Also, it's very very easy to get cc'd or glutened by little kids eating gluten. You'v...
  23. Now that I've thought about it
  24. So I felt so spoiled this morning eating my wonderfully cold smoothie. I decided to keep it simple and added frozen strawberries, a few frozen banana slices, some fresh raspberries, a little bit of yogurt and the last of the vanilla rice milk. It was delicious! Though I think I overdid the milk... maybe some kind of fruit juice would be better..? Or maybe...
