  1. Aww, I know it's hard. Those little ones just don't understand why they feel the way they do. If it helps, it doesn't really look like an allergic type rash to me. Plus, I really think the DH experts here are experts!
  2. Well, steroids are immuno-suppressants and allergic reactions are mediated by the immune system so in theory the steroid could "help". Actually, I have a friend who is allergic to formaldehyde and has taken prednisone to help control her rashes. She says it helps, but it doesn't always make the rash go away... and the side effects are bad for her.
  3. My dad and I are also very allergic to cats – we get itchy, heavy, stinging, watery eyes, headaches and stuffed noses. No rashes or hives. I am wondering if these people on the other board are knowledgable about Celiac and DH?
  4. I've got another question. May 1st will mark 3 months of being gluten-free/milk-free
  5. Yes, deep breath. I assume you react to gluten with symptoms? I think you are doing a great job following the gluten-free diet, but it might help to let your body tell you when it does not like something. That may reduce some of your anxiety? Everyone makes mistakes, just so long as it doesn't become a habit! I don't think that the scotch tape will cause...
  6. I'm not exactly sure if this could work for you (and I haven't read all the replies..), Dani... but one of my favorite snacks is apple with different things on it. Adding a little lemon is pretty tasty.. or baked in cinnamon and sugar or brown sugar (like an apple crisp without the top), or peanut butter or other nut butters have been hits over here. If...
  7. You could maybe write your parents a letter? I find it is much easier to explain things through writing. You could explain that you felt like you couldn't talk about your pain to them beforehand because nobody else in your family talks about theirs. Sometimes parents react strangely when they find out their child is in pain and they haven't been aware of...
  8. Sadly, I'm not sure the classes that are mandatory are working... but I see what you mean.

ARCHIVED Doctors Who Have No Clue

They really don't have a clue! They say they like challenging cases because it gives them something to think about, but then they do stuff like that... and it makes you go . I was talking to someone the other day who was telling me about her son (who is now in his 20's) who has Celiac. He was diagnosed when he was 7 I believe. His teachers always blamed...
  10. Thank you for posting this
  11. OH. Lol, don't worry about the work! Sorry! Serum B12, urinary/serum MMA, HCY test, HoloTC test. OR if the level falls below 450 do a trial of B12 supplementation. Wish I could get the scans to you. Attaching through this forum software is wonky. Hopefully I'm understanding you correctly this time.
  12. Yes, kind of like the thyroid testing. Most doc's only test TSH but TSH only gets at part of the picture. Conversely, a stroke or Alzheimer's can mimic a B12 deficiency. I know what pernicious anemia is but you asked how she dx's/tests for it. That was the info I didn't want to garble. Here's a quote: "This diagnosis [pernicious anemia] is properly...
  13. Smart thinking, there. Our old one doesn't work and I'm not entirely sure where the scanner is located in our new one... but my stomach is rumbling and telling me it's time for breakfast. I will figure it out though!
  14. From what I remember they suggested the serum b12, urinary MMA and homocysteine... I'll have to go back and look as I think I might be forgetting one. They identified people whose serum b12 levels fall under 500 as in the "gray zone." They spoke a lot about the symptoms - levels connection and found that people whose levels fall under 500 (particularly levels...
  15. Could It Be B12 – An Epidemic of Misdiagnoses - 2nd Edition by Sally M. Pacholok, R.N., B.S.N. Jeffrey J. Stuart, D.O. I should add: the serum b12 test ALONE is not the best.
  16. I may just point out that the serum B12 test is not the best at identifying a B12 deficiency. Most of the ranges (in the U.S.) are too low given that many people with higher LEVELS still have the symptoms of a deficiency. So, while having testing done should be helpful... make sure it's the right kind because not all doctors are clued in on vitamins and minerals...
  17. This does sound a bit like PTSD... However, I definitely can relate to those feelings (the "bad" people out there). I try to tell myself that living in fear is agony and IF such a terrible thing were to happen to me, I would have wished I had enjoyed every moment of my 'previous' life before x event occurred. I believe it's semantics; when I think toxin...
  18. I will triple the suggestion for Enzymedica. They made a huge difference for me. Hopefully you can find something!
  19. I take Kyo-Dolphilus which I know is dairy and gluten free... and I'm almost positive it is soy free as well. If I remember correctly there are 3 billion live cells per capsule. IH is right, they really do make a difference. You may also want to check out digestive enzymes. I just started taking them about a week ago – they have helped so much!
  20. I hate to mention yet another thing but.... this "fight-or-flight" response can be associated with unintegrated primitive reflexes; specifically, the Moro Reflex. This is the reflex that causes babies to abruptly open their arms if they sense they are being dropped/danger. It is a precursor to a much more complex danger/fear reflex that allows us to distinguish...
  21. I'm glad for you! Just keep in mind that your reaction to gluten could indicate Celiac which is a a serious autoimmune disease. It's muuuucccchhh easier to pursue testing when you haven't gone gluten-free yet! I hope your sons get some answers. Welcome to the forum, by the way.
  22. Yea, the cravings are no fun at all. Typically I eat small, frequent meals throughout the day, but I do like to try to stop eating after 8 or 9 PM. This gives my body a few hours to digest before I head to bed. I got very nauseous and sick the other day which broke the cycle and now I'm back to wishing I didn't need to ever eat. Food just sounds...
  23. We have "backward" birthday's around here. You can age backwards for as long as you'd like.
