  1. Hi Alex
  2. Hi xJalin, From your post it sounds like there is an anxiety component to your stuttering. Actually, anxiety is commonly expressed via stuttering. Many people who suffer from Celiac or gluten intolerance develop anxiety or depression as part of their symptomatology. So, YES, going off of gluten might help with your stutter! I agree that it is probably...
  3. I think it is also important to differentiate between symptoms and the actual auto-immune response: even if your twins don't react (with symptoms; overtly or right away) to that crumb, as Skylark mentioned, their bodies will find it and react (silently).
  4. Sometimes doctors will diagnose based on your reaction to a gluten challenge (bad) and the alleviation of those symptoms after removing gluten again.... plus any other issues; unexplained vitamin deficiencies, genetic markers, etc. The fact is, no one can really assume a gluten intolerance cannot turn into Celiac. Our bodies don't work in segregated systems...
  5. I just wanted to say: YOU are the only one who truly knows how you are feeling. Doctors, family and friends are there to help — not to tell/direct. You get to choose where, when and how they can assist. Sometimes, advocating for yourself requires a level of ruthlessness. Maybe you could try writing a letter to your family? I've found that many times v...
  6. Good luck! It's really easy to slip into feeling like everything rides on this appointment
  7. I'm right there with you
  8. I'm glad it went so smoothly. Fingers crossed
  9. I agree with the other posters on sugar: too much could give anyone a migraine/nausea! Thing is, our bodies aren't really supposed to have the white sugars in those kinds of cereals. Ideally, we'd be getting them from natural sources — e.g.: fruits and carbohydrates without the added/refined sugars! Feel better. HTH, ~Laura
  10. Thank you for your suggestions! Definitely going to give them a try
  11. Thanks for the article Skylark! Yea
  12. For anyone who is interested: I'm currently looking at the book, "Could it Be B12?; An Epidemic of Misdiagnoses" by Sally M. Pacholok and Jeffrey J. Stuart. There's a kindle edition and from the sample I've read, it seems very good (and informative!). ~Laura
  13. Oops, I did
  14. My doctor's nurse called a left a message this morning detailing the results of the blood tests performed the day before. She said they were normal, but I went to pick up the hard copy anyway... Ferritin: 44 (8-252) Folate: >24.0 (>5.4 - ) Iron: 151 (50-170) % Iron Saturation: 38 (15-45) IBC:400 (250-450) Vitamin B12: 334 (211-911...
  15. I went to the GI doctor today. He was WONDERFUL! I'm so happy! More details to come.
  16. I agree with the posters on OAS (Oral Allergy Syndrome). OAS allergies can escalate supremely fast. Any food that itches, burns or creates swelling in/on your mouth, lips, tongue needs to be avoided. This is because an OAS reaction can be just as severe as a "regular" food allergy. Unfortunately, unless you want to watch the pollen counts everyday you just...
  17. If I recall correctly, the lactose in cheeses, yogurts, buttermilk and so on is "digested" (aka: broken down) by the enzymes during fermentation. You could try something like lactaid to see if it helps or not. If it doesn't, I would look at a casein intolerance
  18. YES! Gluten definitely can affect you adversely after 2 days gluten-free. Were the bumps itchy? You might check out the DH forum on this site. As for the anxiety attack, anxiety can be a symptom of celiac/gluten intolerance. Best wishes and feel better! ~Laura
  19. Actually I think she chomps the carrots to keep her teeth clean and white... ;-) YES! It's terrible and it's everywhere!
  20. So soft and cuddly.... I think my dogs would choose a carrot over a milkbone any day.
  21. She. That is actually a snapshot out of a video I took of her last year at the dog park. She was getting her neck scratched — she is such an itchy dog: she can't tolerate grains either. :-) The envy of all of us who would like naturally white teeth!
  22. I thought it was the milk too until I realized I did fine with the smaller one a few weeks earlier. Then I read that it could be hidden in the emulsifiers. I should probably send them an email. Thank you, I really don't mean to sound melodramatic or complain, I've just had a slew of not so great luck. I know I should be thinking about all of the people...
  23. /begin vent... I've been so incredibly frustrated lately. I finally get my BM's somewhat normal without taking mirilax daily, I finally began feeling a little relief from the fatigue, the gas, stomach pains, numbness, headaches, bloating and the D began to subside. My mood even started to regulate and then... I decide to eat a hershey bar. Not the safe...
  24. Maybe the brain damage isn't caused by the gluten itself, but by unknown vitamin/mineral deficiencies caused by gluten ingestion. I presume the studies differentiated between the two but I figured it was something to put out there... I know I've read about deficiencies in vitamin b12 causing neuropathy
