  1. Would any of you be willing to share some of your favorite fruit smoothie recipes? I need to get away from the processed gluten-free cereals I've been having for breakfast every morning! I'm a newbie at smoothie making though. Thanks! Edit: Sorry if this is in the wrong spot!
  2. If it were me, I would also go back on gluten if I had only been off of it for 2 weeks. I'm currently in a situation where I've been gluten-free for almost 4 months – I react much worse to smaller amounts of gluten now than I did when I was 2 weeks out. I now realize that I need a diagnosis a) because I'd like to know if it is Celiac and b ) I need one s...
  3. I like your new pic!

  4. I used to get those all the time...but mostly on my arms. The ones on my abdomen used to be right around my belly button
  5. I also used to get sick a lot. However, I've only gotten sick once since going gluten-free and it was early into the process. I so hope this is permanent! IGA deficiency and common variable immune deficiency are both listed as symptoms (related disorders) of Celiac Disease. With Celiac being a malfunction of the immune system
  6. On Mother's day?! That sounds awful, I'm so sorry you had to deal with that on your day. I get it. My dad likes to make dinner for us on the weekends, however he doesn't take the necessary precautions as he is the gluten eater in the family) to keep things free of cc. He gets frustrated when I begin to tell him what he needs to do to keep things safe (washing...
  7. Don't forget that genetics isn't everything. There are kids who are genetically predisposed to horrible illnesses, which they never develop... and others who "should" be healthy, but aren't. All you can do is do your best with what you've got. ~Laura

    ARCHIVED Sad :(

It does get better, even though it's difficult to believe when you're feeling like you do. Hang in there and treat yourself to something special
  9. I'm not the most experienced at this, but I take NOW brand methyl B12 lozenges. ~Laura
  10. Hi Adalaide
  11. It can be really hard to stand up for yourself
  12. I'm not annoyed with you either! In fact, I admire your resiliency. I just wish you didn't have to deal with them – they seem like complete idiots! I'd like to slap some sense into some of them... Hugs, ~Laura
  13. I don't know how you still have patience for these kids! There are so many other ways/places to find friends
  14. It makes sense to me that Celiac causes malabsorption which leads to vitamin deficiencies which can lead to muscle weakness/wasting, imbalances, etc. If this can happen in the "big" muscles (back, legs, arms, abs) of our bodies, it must occur in some of the "smaller" muscles, like the eyes. Eye teaming is a very important component in our vision and can...
  15. Happy Birthday!
  16. My the worst of my reactions (cramping, nausea, "D", etc etc.) last for about a week and they aren't always constant. I'll usually have constant nausea, pain or discomfort but the cramps themselves tend to... pulsate (???) kinda – can't think of the right word. Then the bloating and a few residual cramping lasts for about another week... it worsens when I...
  17. I don't think a lot of people "get it"... even those who are aware of Celiac. Honestly, when people say things like that I think it has more to do with them and less to do with you; they just don't feel comfortable with the way they look. It's unfortunate that they cannot get over themselves for a moment to admire the way you look instead of being self-depreciating...
  18. I don't have much advice to give, but I wanted to let you know that I understand your blood sugar struggles. It can be so frustrating. Something that helps me when I'm feeling insatiable is to eat a little glucose (semi-sweet choco. chips). Fruits, veggies, chicken and rice are my go to foods
  19. At first I feel like my intestines are being tied in knots while glass is trying to pass through – I often get nauseous, the cold sweats and (sometimes) throw up with it. Occasionally (usually a few days after being glutened), I'll get a stabbing kind of cramping either on the lower left or lower right side of my abdomen. My upper abdomen typically feels l...
  20. I learned my lesson – stay with known safe foods! I seem to be able to tolerate those, too (yay!). Bananas have definitely been a staple. Very complicated. Thanks – you too!
