  1. Hi A bit late coming to this, I know, but with gluten I used to have balance issues. Only a little but enough to be a nuisance and make me self conscious - comparable to getting up after a large glass of wine! Also slightly clumsy, knocking myself on things. I also do one morning a week requiring mental arithmatic and with gluten the numbers are in a thick...
  2. Stomach pain in 20 minutes - feel like I've eaten a brick - literally! Rapid heart beat and big hot flush. Can trigger a migraine. Next day often wake with symptoms of a bad cold which goes in a couple of hours then get the shakes and need to eat. Through all this terrible nausea and the big C for 2-3 days. Can have to concentrate on not being sick. ...
  3. Hi (might be doing this wrong)! I take ERFA thyroid and have just ordered Dr Peter Green's book.. Seem to have strayed from the original topic a bit!
  4. Hi Gemini Had Hashi's dx at age 15 - that's 36 years ago (aargh!). In hindsight had the celiac from same time and DH very bad when younger from a similar age. Used to get it on shoulder blades, scalp, buttocks and occasionally face - now almost totally confined to scalp. Incredibly symetrical too. Took thyroxine until about 6 years ago when became ill and...
  5. Hi Gemini My posts always seem to come out wrong! My DH is caused by ingesting gluten and I get plenty of gastro symptoms!!! What I mean't was no gastro symptoms from the hair products, etc. As you can tell - I'm prone to brain fog too. My DH is also aggravated by using seasalt on food - sadly. Also have Hashimotos which is affected by iodine too.
  6. Hi everyone I'm late arriving at this topic as usual. Don't often sign in but am often here again of late. Just to say really, that I have DH on scalp and this is immediately aggravated by hair products containing wheat. I have in fact proved this by knowing when the hairdresser accidentally used the wrong product. My lips also go red if in contact with...
  7. Hi there When I used to eat gluten and now if I eat dairy when I bend over acid runs back. Not good. If I stay away from them I'm fine.
  8. Thanks so much for your replies - have used this forum as a guest for about 18 mths and the advice and humour has helped enormously. With the majority of posts I could put my hand up and say "that's me too!" What a relief! As for the headache (had me up in the night)this time it is part careless/part self inflicted - I am the slowest learner I know ...
  9. Hello there Just wondered if anyone else gets this. I call my severe headaches Migraine but I don't get the flashing lights that I know some people get. I have a terrible headache that feels like my head is in a vice and it lasts for 3 to 8 days so quite significant then !! When I was in my teens and twentys I had permanent headache to varying degrees...
  10. Hi there Know how you feel. Canned prunes in apple juice seem to help me. Also some nuts daily and or course, water. Hot water seems best. Hi Prickly - never thought of sugar being a cause but now you mention it ..... Also I think soya also gets me.
  11. Hi The correct name for painful ovulation is Mittelshmerz (sp?). Sounds quite innocent but gave me significant pain in the past. Don't know if celiac has anything to do with it but it wouldn't suprise me, as I am sure it would be influenced to some degree by dietary factors. However, with all problems like this, see your Dr. Sorry to be so slow...
  12. Hi NatureLover - see it's your first post so welcome although I am new here myself . Read your post and just thought i would mention that I used to get (given up monthly cycles 2 years ago due to my age) a thing called painful ovulation -can't think of the proper name at the moment. This was a sharp tight sort of pain which was debilitating - occasionally...
  13. Hello there Don't know if i'm too late too reply to this thread or not - not really used to this posting lark or using a forum. However, was interested to read this as I too have balance issues. Haven't fallen or anything but before gluten free or when cc'd or of course, fallen off the waggon slightly (still learning and occasionally struggling) I get...
  14. Hi again For me, the anxiety/stress that causes the trigger to eat is directly caused by gluten. Unfortunately, with years undiagnosed for a long time it had a powerful hold on me. IMHO when I have gluten it tenses up my stomach and literally gives my body and brain stress. I then proceed to feel so ill - especially next day that I am so shaky, white and...
  15. Hi there Not sure that I'm too good at advice but if it's any help I do know how you feel. For me too the Celiac is affected by stress - somehow that eating binge comes on and I can feel glutened without having any. It kind of triggers me to eat. Over the past 30n years (only realised it's celiac in the last 18 mths) I have seen psychologists for bulimia...
  16. Thanks for that. Just have got to a stage of being cheesed off and needing to moan. I am not being careful enough and must be getting cc'd. In fact this really bad spell with wanting to eat gluten again (I believe gluten makes me eat compulsively) all seemed to start when I baked some cakes for some guests! Prior to that there was no gluten in my kitchen...
  17. Hello there. Have been gluten free since about Feb 2011. Not eaten bread, cereal, pasta or bread for some years as it makes me ill so gluten free wasn't a big deal. Felt MUCH better for about six months then slowly began to feel much worse. Back to stomach cramps, the big C alternating dodgey D, headache and truly terrible nausea with repeated close shaves...
