  1. "But most of all, I think this disease teaches us about hope. And hope is one of the most beautiful words in the English language." Five years back when I was terribly ill I saw a Home for sale sigh. I thought it said "Hope for Sale." Oh, I could use some hope I thought. I had no hope in this world, but God was my hope. He is bringing me through it...
  2. I would just like to say that recently I was offered steroids in order to "tone down my immune system." I think Prednisone falls into that chategory? At any rate I looked up Prednisone and it depresses the immune system. Doesn't it make more sense to avoid what you are allergic to, then to mess up your immune system? Well, I thought so. I didn't take...
  3. "This process requires me to have faith that I am healing even if it isn't obvoious...this might be the biggest challenge." I agree, it takes faith. For me it is Faith in God to bring me through what I cannot get through myself. I am 3 months grain free. It has been quite a struggle, but for the most part I have lost my foggy head and fatigue. I have...
  4. I feel the glands in my neck. Sometimes I cough. I notice extra mucous. Sometimes I notice my abdomen swell. I think I have an allergy to wheat and yeast. I am 3 months from gluten free. I am hoping my body will settle. None of these reactions are painful and severe. DT
  5. I reacted to bread by touching the bag. I reacted to mini donuts by smelling them. I think it could be both or either one for some of us.
  6. I do hope you will feel better soon and will be able to write your story. I want your tests to be accurate whether they are positive or negative. I am pretty sure someone can tell you which tests to get. Diana
  7. I know it doesn't sound fun, but when one takes natural supplements, it often gets somewhat worse before it gets better. Make very sure you don't have any cross contamination problem. Also, You might take a break from it for a few weeks. Then try again. I take Immuno Synbiotic from Nutri-Spec I get from my chiropractor. Make sure you have a brand with...
  8. Great! I have been using Thai brand organic canned coconut milk. I think it is just coconut milk and no additives. You might check that out or some other brand of canned milk for less additives.
  9. I dreamed I was eating bread the other night. Only in my dreams I thought!
  10. Many of us are trying grain free. The Gluten Free Society has information about that. I use almond meal and coconut flour. I also use bean flours. I like to use olive oil in things. If you can eat dairy, butter is good too, and if no dairy. Maybe try ghee which is butter melted with the dairy removed. I found the recipe on the internet. I saw...
  11. My chiropractor wrote a 3 page report about me for my family. It explained that 5 years ago I was dying, or something terrible. Maybe my family needs space to guess to come around. If I get beyond the point where my body is working so hard maybe they will be impressed with the recovery?
  12. Well, I think the forum may help you to decide what to do. I just want to explain that we don't quit eating; we find substitutes. They are excellent! Instead of milk: Coconut milk, or almond milk Instead of wheat flour: almond, coconut, or buckwheat. I haven't been disappointed with the tastiness of my food and it improves my health besides....
  13. First, welcome and glad you could share with me. I am glad you have a chance to ask. Many times the doctors are clueless, but yours give you helpful information. I guess you read over signs and symptoms and will discover you have some. Otherwise when you get your diet in order you will probably realize problems when you get gluten by accident. It took...
  14. I am 3 months grain free. I can't remember when the fatigue went away, but I have come to expect a clear head and a little energy. Now when I feel tired I do can sometimes rest. I mean if you are tired all of the time and have responsiblilities; you can't rest just whenever you are tired. I think that my "rapid recovery" is due to 5 years of an excellent...
  15. I am 3 months gluten Fre. I also eat organic natural foods and have for many years. The past 5 years I have taken supplements that saved my life. I garden and spend time out in the sun. I was doing "everything right", but have experienced 30 years of gluten intolerance symptoms. I have been clear minded, unfatigued, and occasssionally energetic lately...
  16. First, to be honest I do not have DH. I did used to get eczema and I know that one is itchy. Anyway I learned to make homemade soap. I now have skin in very good condition. I am sure there is alot more to it my improvement then my soap. But my eczema went away with my first batches of soap. I won't guarantee all of your problems will go away, but it...
  17. My MD already has told me all of my children should be gluten free. However, my husband and they are not ready. I am doing all I can. My body also seems to be doing all the reacting it can. Life is being very hard.
  18. I hope one of my daughters can one day. She is mostly gluten free, but has not been diagnosed herself. She is just going with the flow of my diet. I hope you find some others to share your struggles with. I have had some Celiacs appear out of the blue in my life. You will find some too, I believe. DT
  19. I First I tried rest to overcome the fatigue. I then tried strenous excercise to wake up my tired body. I paid more attention to what people were saying about how to have a healthy diet. People think I am obsessed with it. What could I do? I paid more attention to having a clean (green) enviroment at home. I studied herbs and supplements and...
  20. My family "can't" eat gluten. In reading monkeyface's gripe about diarreah with eating non-gluten bread; I began to consider this. I have the diagnosis and they do not. When I have troubles due to my diet I grim and bear it, because I know that I have no choice. I know it will be better in the long run for me. I also expected that I would have it...
  21. What is the Lord doing now?

  22. Wow! I thought this post could have been my husband. He has had some problems, but I think he has them after he eats at work. He also calls himself monkeyface. Maybe a simalar problem causes my family not to be able to eat gluten? I realized it could not have been my husband when Monkey Face said they eat gluten free cookies and stuff. I stay...
  23. Expect your body to be working on this for a long while. I am 3 months into grain free and I can tell my body is still working hard to recover. I had one week of bliss, when I went gluten free, followed by withdrawl symptoms. Don't be discouraged when you feel worse. You did the right thing, you found a cause and corrected the error! Sometimes you will...
  24. I read about some kind of tax break for Celiac's Gluten Free Food. I have a record of everything big I have bought for the last year. I have 6 living at home that should be on a Celiac diet because of my genetics. Now, a tax break for Celiac could be quite a break for us. Who can tell me where to learn about this, or is it really too good to be true?...
  25. Sleepingbunny: I hope you wake up and have won the race. The race to better health.
