ARCHIVED Candles, Scents, Incense Etc
1desperateladysaved replied to 123glldd's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
If you are wondering, you may want to put them away for a while and then bring them back out. An air tight bin perhaps could contain their smells. As for me I stay away from the candle aisle at stores. I however, do tolerate essential oils. I do not tolerate perfume oils. I hope this will help and that you can enjoy your pretty smells. Diana -
Five years back I had my last talk with my dentist. He told me that maybe I had an Autoimmune disease. Wow! That sounded big, but what could it mean? I didn't bother to look it up. I thought that maybe I was falling apart from the inside out. It seemed to me that I was dying; why go to a dentist? I needed to get to the bottom of my health problems...

ARCHIVED Is It Safe To Vacuum Up Gluten?
1desperateladysaved replied to 123glldd's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
With the average vacuum, I would not do it. I ruined my new central vac picking up sheet rock dust and the company said it was not made to pick that up. Vacuums are not made to pick up powder they said. Of coarse if it is an incindental amount I wouldn't worry about the vacuum. I suggest someone else use the vacuum. Most vacuums do put dust into the... -
ARCHIVED New And Have Some Questions.
1desperateladysaved replied to ChrisMathis's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yes, and I do not think you are a hypochondriac either. I avoid perfume counters, rice cooking, bakeries, and vinegar smells. I react to them, but I am not saying that it is a celiac reaction. It is possible that it is allergy instead. But you asked about reaction to smells and I say "yes>" -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Toothpaste
1desperateladysaved replied to gfbrad's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I use soap to clean my teeth daily. I make my own soap and put in essential oils in an attempt to sooth my taste buds. It is very cleansing. I have a daughter that says she uses soap also part of the time. The dentists don't complain about her teeth when she uses the soap. If you don't make your own maybe how about a baking soda soap? Watch out for gluten... -
ARCHIVED Question For The Women Here (Pms-Related)
1desperateladysaved replied to heather806's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have read that breast tenderness relates to the releasing of an egg. I had breast tenderness for the first time in years after 4 months gluten free. Other times which in the past I have felt tenderness is when I was a child and early 20's and 30's for a week 2 weeks after the period and two before. -
ARCHIVED Way Too Technical For Me Nutrition/anatomy Questions
1desperateladysaved replied to 1desperateladysaved's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Here is my summary of the Shortbowelfoundation. org information. . The Small intestine: from the part just after the stomach toward outside of body. Duodenum: It uses enzymes to make food in small pieces after passing through the stomach. This is the part that absorbs iron. 2.Jejunum: It takes in nutrients which have passed throught the small... -
ARCHIVED Way Too Technical For Me Nutrition/anatomy Questions
1desperateladysaved replied to 1desperateladysaved's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
This is a nice bit of information on nutrient absorption. This is how to practically put the information to use. Thanks! I don't have any enamel left on my teeth, they say, so I will be careful putting open iron capsules in. -
ARCHIVED Way Too Technical For Me Nutrition/anatomy Questions
1desperateladysaved posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Which nutrients if any can be assimulated outside of the intestine? Can vitamin D be used by the body without being absorbed by the intestine? What nutrients are easiest to assimulate when the small intestine is damaged? My first guess at this one is salt. A second is sugar; I think some can get to the blood from the mouth. However, these... -

[oh and Irishheart? Just because you mentioned feeling sick from strong perfumes.:-) Am I recalling right that you have issues with sulfites? If that's correct, you might be interested to know that a lot of sulfite sensitive folks react to perfumes. Some have severe reactions, but most I've spoken to say their reactions are mild, often headaches, dizziness...

ARCHIVED Losing Hope
1desperateladysaved replied to FruitEnthusiast's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I like fruit too. But it is high in sugar. It is possible you are getting a spike and crash! I make sure to have fruit only with protein and fat at mealtime. Are you taking supplements? Vitamin B gave me quite a perk in addition to all others I am taking. It is possible you need more time. Me too, at 5 months grain free. Sometimes, I wonder if... -

I received a nice e-mail back from the hotdog company. They seemed to be doing everything right. To be sure, I won't eat them again for a while, but someday I will try them. If they work then I will shout the brand. Meanwhile,I wrote back and thanked the man for his reply and care.. He answered that I was welcome! -

I noticed one other that had an increase in pain when going gluten free, anyone else? Anyone that did not have their pf respond after months on the diet? I was on excellent supplements besides what I already mentioned. I hope each and every foot will respond. I remember the plantar facitis defined as a mysterious inflammation and then tearing. ARCHIVED Plantar Fasciitis
1desperateladysaved replied to 1desperateladysaved's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I would ice my feet for 20 minutes at a time. Get Asics shoes for plantar f. or shoe inserts for it and do not take them off every time you walk. I didn't do too much of my excercises, but I think it would help. I rolled my foot on a tennis ball; it felt better when I stopped. I hope yours will improve also. -

ARCHIVED Gluten Withdrawal - Abdominal Water Retention?
1desperateladysaved replied to Barbara-just starting's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Here is a pattern I experience when losing water weight. Water seems to collect in my abdomen and thighs. Then I run to the bathroom 20 or more times a day. After a couple of days of this the swelling begins to abate. My clothes feel baggy about 4 in the afternoon. I think I also begin to feel my clothes when usually I don't. My weight currently is... -
Has anyone else had problems with Plantar fascitiis. I have on and off for 5 years. When I cut out gluten I got it in both feet! This seemed to be the storm before the calm though. For the first time in years my feet are not bothering me in August. Diana
