ARCHIVED What Is A Good Probiotic?
1desperateladysaved replied to AandGsmomma's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Mine contains: , olgofructose enriched inulin, guar gum, Lactobacillus reuteri, and Saccharonmyces boulardi. I take it right away in the morning as soon as I get up. One should take it with a glass of water. I am excited about this product since all other probiotics didn't seem to help me. Oh, I was trying to cut and paste and failed for the last... -

ARCHIVED Getting Tested - Need Advice
1desperateladysaved replied to SMDBill's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I tried a gluten antibody 3 weeks after gluten free and it was negative. I don't want to dishearten you. Actually, I just had a Celiac Panel blood test now. That would be 8 months gluten free. I am expecting it to be negative, but if it wasn't then I would figure I was botching my diet. I think the nutrient absorption tests is a really good thing... -
Testing 123. Food Intolerance And Nutrient Absorption
1desperateladysaved commented on 1desperateladysaved's blog entry in 1desperateladysaved's Blog
I made it through the testing! I realized when I got in the car that the tank was only 1/4 full. Then I got stuck in traffic. I was getting close to the place and eyeing my gas gage wearily. I just gotta stop for gas. I looked at the clock. It was already 9 and I was supposed to be there. It was then I made the decision to risk running out of gas... -
ARCHIVED Has Anyone Used Quail Eggs For A Substitute For Eggs?
1desperateladysaved replied to 1desperateladysaved's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Once upon I had goose eggs. They are plenty big, but I don't know if they have a "different" protein than chicken eggs and would be tolerable. Where would me "allergist" find out that information? -
ARCHIVED Has Anyone Used Quail Eggs For A Substitute For Eggs?

Maybe I can raise them if I need to. I am not sure about gathering 90+ little eggs daily! -
ARCHIVED Has Anyone Used Quail Eggs For A Substitute For Eggs?
1desperateladysaved replied to 1desperateladysaved's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I am hoping I am not allergic to eggs. I can't imagine cracking 90 eggs every morning to get my family going. Eggs are excellent protein, fat, and vitamin B if you don't overcook them. Diana -
ARCHIVED Has Anyone Used Quail Eggs For A Substitute For Eggs?
1desperateladysaved replied to 1desperateladysaved's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
"Spelt and Kamut are not allowed on a gluten-free diet, which explains why they didn't work for you." Yeah, for sure. If only I woud have known about gluten. That was 5-10 years back when I sort-of knew I couldn't eat wheat. At any rate My concern is that if quail eggs were a substitue for chicken eggs, one could latch on to it and not know if it was... -

I have a friend raising quale eggs. She says that some people whol are allergic to chicken eggs can eat quail eggs. Has anyone tried it? I keep thinking about having been told that Spelt and Kamut were a good substitute for wheat. That didn't work out for me. -
ARCHIVED How Do I Know If I'm Healing Or Ingesting Gluten?
1desperateladysaved replied to megsybeth's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
If you are be careful with your die,t and keep on working your analytical mind, sooner or later you will figure it out. I am 6 months gluten free and I can sympathasize with the confusion. I am having more of what I think is my body working on repair. I am only guessing what is going on. If the guess doesn't seem to still be flying tomorrow I will make... -

Okay, this did get sad. Okay, it is really sad. All we can do is pick up the pieces and go on. Now we know what we can do. Now we can do something. I have promises that the Lord can restore the years the locusts have eaten. Sometimes that is the only thing that keeps me going. I do hope everyone who has suffered like this will have that promise for... -

ARCHIVED Does Anyone Else Have A Problem With Dry , Blistering Lips?
1desperateladysaved replied to TGK112's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I will second the vitamin B defieciency. My nutrition book say that a B deficiency will cause chapped lips. My lips get chapped in spring and fall. Tuesday I am having a nutrient absorbing test, so I will perhsps find out if I am absorbing B's well. I always wondered how I could eat so much vitamin B in bread and be deficient. I am sure there are other... -

ARCHIVED New Here With A 13 Year Old
1desperateladysaved replied to GlutenFreex4's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My son 9 failed to grow this summer and last spring. He had a parasite that likely damaged his small intestine. I was working with an osteopathic doctor on it. In the meanwhile, the family went gluten free 6 months back because of me. In the last 2 months he grew about at inch. I am beginning to wonder if he might have a gluten problem too. (He is adopted... -

ARCHIVED Family Doesn't Seem To Care Much
1desperateladysaved replied to leelomba's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Sigh! an electric skillet can be used on a table outside of the kitchen. A little refrigerator may be able to hold food for one. Yeah, it will be nice when you have your own place. Do what you can. Get well, Diana -
My son has small intestine damage. His is actually caused by giardia (parasite) and he is not celiac, so far as we know. His doctor recommended glutamine amino acid in order to have heal his small intestine damage. Has anyone used glutamine to help heal the damage to the intestine? I am having a nutrient test and am curious to see if I could use some...

ARCHIVED 7Yr Old Gluten Free
1desperateladysaved replied to Jen85's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Train your daughter what to do. Seven is old enough to be able to explain. I know, because my little ones 7 and 9 constantly help guard me from gluten. They know what I can not have and besides they read labels! If she knows what to do it will help immensly in her care. You can give em papers. If there are some reactions he is likely to get the idea... -

I don't know why. Here's some little flowers ***** I would want you to get well soon. You will figure out the diet in time. Reading other posts here will help you understand more. I don't think any of us understand why doctors don't always know what is going on. But now you can do something to lift your own health. Maybe the foggy life will go away... -
ARCHIVED Orthorexia. Might Apply To Some Of Us.

I know some people near and dear to me who could have written this book about me. They just don't understand. Orthorexia or no orthorexia we do what we do, not as volunteers, but to avoid something worse. We aren't getting are kicks out of it, we are just trying to live. Diana -
ARCHIVED Hair Changed Color?
1desperateladysaved replied to Krystal K.'s topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I used to have really thin flat hair. My hair had been wavy since high school, but is going back to flat. I have noticed a color change, but I think mine is gray. Maybe I will find out different one day. Still, it is thicker, smoother, less tangly then ever. -
Testing 123. Food Intolerance And Nutrient Absorption
1desperateladysaved posted a blog entry in 1desperateladysaved's Blog
For 8 months I have been gluten free. For 6 months I have been grain free. Shortly after I began the diet I began to seek after tests to optimize my healing. I struggled with what tests to do. Who should do the tests? Would my insurance cover the tests? I had a huge deductible with the insurance company with the Health Account now gone. However...
