  1. I am grain free. I enjoy almond flour, garbanzo/fava flour, and buckwheat flour. I eat bites of fruit to keep my sugar intake low. I have used Mango to replace lemon juice and tomato. You will be able to find something to eat. I also eat good fats like coconut and olive oil. I use meat, fish, and eggs for protein foods. I eat cooked vegatables because...
  2. I got some Sea Tangle kelp noodles. I brought them home and stuck them away. Even I hoped that I wouldn't see them at the table very soon. One day I made some up for me. I looked away from my plate as I considered eating it. Finally, I took a bite. It tasted good! Two of my children took some and said they wanted some of the leftovers tomorrow...
  3. I would recommend not eating gluten, except at gunpoint, even if your test comes back negative! Keep us up to date.
  4. Where is the update?
  5. An unnameable company that I tested with, tests for 4 gene alleles. If I have it straight, two of these are celiac and two are gluten intolerance. They also sent explanations that I could understand.
  6. Leave a light, which you can reach, on at night. Hopefully, they will die in there and you can be rid of them. I am vaccuming my Asian Beetles. I use to let them go, but I got stung doing that once. I also got a bite that turned into a sebaceous cyst once. After that I gave up on letting them live. Turn off the light, which is up high and leave it off...
  7. I have a Chiropractor that is friends with me. She has a gluten intolerance herself, so she knew about the diet. Before we knew I had Celiac, she gave me supplements that pretty much brought me back from the dead. I feel she is so good for me because she really cares about me. She has really enjoyed watching my blood pressure drop, hearing about some...
  8. Yeah, I got a couple of spots after I started the diet, or maybe they were before. They are mild and occassional, but very itchy. So now I can really sympathize somewhat intelligently with the itch. I am thinking that the skin doesn't like something coming out through the pores.
  9. I buy food at natural coops and cook while I am away. I bring grain free granola to have with eggs for breakfast. I often premake food and heat it in my car oven. It isn't always convenient, but it is a little adventurous. I am one of the only people I know that comes back from vacation with less than I went with. We toss out empty food boxes as we go...
  10. I suspect that my bloating caused shortness of breath. My chiro would measure my breathes per minute. My breath was shallow. I was able to hold my breath for 9 seconds at the first measurement. Now I am up to 35. Oddly enough I didn't feel the bloating, I didn't realize the bloating I saw, caused the perceived tightness in my belly? My bloating...
  11. I have been grain free about 6 months. I did go through withdrawl symptoms all over again after going from classic gluten free to grain free. I am enjoying the food I eat. I use buckwheat and bean flours besides what you mention above. I hope it will help you. I am going with the idea that I should cut out as much suspicious things as possible at first...
  12. I had undiagnosed celiac during which I had one misscarriage and 5 children. I was really sick and could hardly eat for several months of each pregancy. However, each pregnancy resulted in the birth of a healthy baby. My point is that it doesn't usually end in disaster; the body is designed well to protect both mother and baby. Children are blessings...
  13. I have been gluten free for 6 months and have just been noticing that sometimes my abdomen isn't distended. I think it had been distended all of the time, but now sometimes it isn't. I guess it is possible that you have the same. Mine is so hard to measure objectively, but it looks different.
  14. As I understand it, part of the defination of CFS is that you are pretty much bed bound. I wasn't that, but I decided, that I had Fatigue that was overwhelming me nearly all the time in a chronic fashion. My current guess it that my fatigue comes from not absorbing nutrients well. This perhaps caused my high blood pressure and strained heart and body....
  15. Is it ttg IgA or EMA IgA levels that are low? Doctors often run a serum IgA to make sure we have adequate levels of IgA in our bodies to properly test for ttg IgA or EMA (IgA). There is a small portion of the population (I *think* it was about 5% - can't quite remember) who are deficient in IgA and will test negative for celiac even when positive. If she...
  16. I like well or spring water best of all. If it is kept in the refrigerator it is deliciously cool. It is low in sugar (unlike fruit juice) high in hydrating qualities. Herbal tea can be warming on the cool days coming our way. I just use loose leaf to avoid tea bags. I have most recently been really enjoying coconut water that hydrates me better than...
  17. Reading your post makes me feel happy! I hope it will continue at this level, but if not, that this good time will inspire you to hope for more. I don't blame you a bit for not wanting to ever eat gluten again. Diana
  18. First, I would like to thank you for your caring for your beloved. Also, for wanting to do your courtship right. While first on the diet she will be healing and during that time the body could be demanding for a time. It is also an emotionaly hard time. She needs to understand your commitment is 100%. It is difficult, but she is in a good spot having...
  19. I hope your test results will reflect the truth. I hope you won't be extremely uncomfortable in the meanwhile. I hope you can go totally gluten free very soon. I am glad that you seem to have figured out the problem so soon after mono. (I didn't figure it out for 30 years) Still, you will suffer through this for a time. Be ready, get ready, to go back...
  20. I am sorry you have had to go through so many years of suffering. I know it is overwhelming changing your diet. There is alot to learn. The body is also spending incredible energy to heal at this time. It may not be so good today, but you do have hope that improvements will be made. Here is what I am doing: I am gluten free since May 18, 2012: Gluten...
  21. The transition is overwhelming, but it can be done. Your body is working on recovery very hard. You may feel extra run down and even new symptoms. I always consider that any reaction is a good one. Do some studying, decide what to eat each meal, and get extra rest when you can. Get well, Get well, ***** That is the best I can do for flowers. Diana
  22. I have been grain free for since May. I know what you mean about the diet and confusion about healing. I use almond, coconut, buckwheat and bean flours instead of grains. I have used the Gluten-Free Society for recipes. That is Dr. Osborne mentioned above. Anyway I haven't found food that I don't really like. I thought I was reacting to chicken at one...
  23. **** With the tape measure I am trying to see if there is an unusual variance in my tummy. There definatly is. One time way back I ate pizza and swelled 9 inches over night. And no I don't usual measure every night. Now, my clothes feel baggier -when I can feel them. Usually, I don't feel them, because I an numb. Besides these pants have been baggy...
  24. Five years back I was dying. My blood pressure was dangerously high, my fatigue felt like 100 lbs extra weight to carry. I had 30 lbs of water on my bod. The supplements I took immensly helped the symptoms, but now I am getting to the root of the problem I know I am on the right track. I don't feel exasperated. I do expect to get better sooner than...
  25. I guess all of the natural foodstores had a run on nettles after this post. Di
