  1. Yeah, well, I just go down the columns and click on any one that sounds like I can help or relate to. I forget to check if it is youth. So far as I know it has not upset anyone.
  2. I take fish oil and it does help keep me regular but I know that is something that my girls wouldn't be able to swallow and they wouldn't eat it either, unfortunatly. They are very Picky, Picky, Picky so sneaking it into anything wouldn't work either. I just wanted to say that Nordic Naturals have put out a chewable, flavored, fish oil softgel that some...
  3. Sounds yummy, but I have hypoglycemia and can't have sweets. I like fruit, but I even must be careful with that. What else?
  4. You may want to ask yourself some questions: 1. What advantages would the test do for you and what disadvantages? 2, Does gluten intolerance go away? It sounds like your probems have been lifelong so far. 3. Do you need the test to justify not eating gluten? Is someone putting pressure on you about it? 4. Can you eat gluten when...
  5. I am two months past eatting gluten. My reactions seem to be getting "more defined." When I was eating gluten I would just feel so tired all of the time. I couldn't tell I was reacting at all. However, about 4 days after going gluten free I started realizing my body's opionion of gluten. I react to gluten in the air or cross contamination. My first...
  6. If you are drinking beer with gluten, you are not gluten free. If you got completly off gluten, I am pretty sure that in a while you could tell you were reacting to the beer. It is strange, but the reactions seem to get worse as you recover. Oh, I hope you will feel better soon.
  7. Actually, I am up North in the Princeton, Milaca area. The meeting was in St. Cloud. I did mention MNPLS though. I am a frequent shopper at Lakewinds Minnetonka and Valley Natural Foods. I also visit Linden Hills coop and once I found the Wedge, and I infrequent many coops throughout MN. So maybe I will visit yours soon. One never knows where I will...
  8. I also bruise really easily. Is this a common symptom of celiac malnutrition? They do heal pretty quickly now that I am taking the multivitamins, mostly within 4 days. Finally, I feel like I've developed over-active bladder symptom. I'm drinking a fair amount of water since it is so hot out, and since it helps the body to heal from gluten damage, but I...
  9. I thought of this subject while eating supper last night. I had a bulb of fennel. Fennel just makes me feel good when I eat it. I really like the light licorice taste. I found it at the produce department in my local coop. I also feel good when I eat salmon or beans.
  10. I like my Everyday Shea products. They have a large bottle with a pump and it is lasting well. My hair is improving. I use the conditioner for my daughters African American hair and it helps to keep her dry hair moisterized. They are labled gluten free. I bought it without knowing before I went gluten free. I was sure glad that I could keep using it...
  11. Oh, I am glad he has you to help him. I hope you can help him grow up content. Diana
  12. [ Oh, I hope you get to the bottom of it. Get well soon. Diana
  13. You do a stool test. You collect the stool by sitting on plastic to go. Then you put it in some tubes which are provided for the test. These contain some fluids. Shake them up and send them to the lab. They can check for parasites, digestive enzymes, and blood.
  14. Hard boiled eggs can be good. I like to combine them with lemon, celery, and salt. If you like them un crunched you can carry it in an egg carton. Make sure it is labeled hard boiled so you don't have trouble cracking an egg one day.
  15. At home they didn't eat much pizza, so there was plenty for lunch-and again tomorrow. I was thinking how I could serve the same thing for days and days if I make something they don't like. That has been happening quite a bit for some of them, but what can I do? Desperate people can eat anything and even enjoy it I say. The nearest Whole Foods is...
  16. The book The Feingold Diet for Hyperactive Children shaped my views. I watched a close aquaintance go on the diet and he had a drastic personality change. He went from hyper and tempermental to docile and humorous If he ate something artificial, we could figure out that he did so by his behavior. Back in high school this had a profound effect on me...
  17. recently learned that my blood pressure had been in 2007 as high as 180/115, My pulse was almost undetectable at times. I remember a nurse having trouble with that in my tiny second grade arm. Later symptoms included heavy periods, fluctuating weight gain and loss, water retention, intestinal irritablility, frequent urination, extreme thirst, skin numbness...
  18. I have always thought that it was better to wait longer rather than shorter to begin introducing foods to an infant. I tried to wait atleast a year with my children. I believe I would have gotten that idea from a La Leche League book of the 80's.
  19. Check the ingredients on the fruit snacks for artificial flavors or colors. They can do such a thing. They also can contain a large amount of natural fruit sugar.
  20. It was to be my 5 year outing. That time when Mom goes to do her own thing. I was finally going to find some celiacs with live faces to share stories with. :) I figured out who would take care of the little ones. I scrambled to make a special homemade pizza which would be done before I left. This was my first pizza in a long while since crust,...
  21. I hope you will get to the root of your health problems and get better. I know just that hopeful/dreading feeling of waiting for results. I was glad mine came by e-mail. I was able to hold my breath and then look! If you have gluten intolerance you will be happy, not because you have one, but because now you can find out what to do. If you don't...
  22. I am mother to seven. I have discovered that the best way to prepare someone for their life ahead is to do it now. Like if you want to have them brush their hair everyday, begin by doing it for them. Develope the habits they will need now. If I could do it for my children, I would train them now. They hopefully, won't have to make huge diet changes in...
  23. [Many of us have the enamel off our teeth. I have heard that the body thinks it is gluten and attacks it! I had braces (at 17) my dentist blamed the missing enamel on not brushing well enough when I had braces. But I brushed every time I ate, so I thought that was queer. I have never been able to tell my dentist anything. My husband sometimes grinds...
  24. I just wanted to give you a quick answer, so you have one. I have been gluten free about 2 months and could have written much of this post myself. Please get well and keep reading. I will watch this too.
  25. My brain fogginess, fatigue, and weakness are going away. I almost died 5 years back, then I didn't feel so well. (See My Story) I got on some good supplements recommended by my chiropractor and started to live again. Yet, only recently we discovered I was gluten intolerant. Now, I think I found the root of my problem. There is hope for you too. ...
