  1. I am reading all of this with lots of interest. I have a dd who is gluten intolerant (no "celiac" genes) and although was neg for blood test had a pos. stool test and very positive dietary response. I am suffering from anxiety and depression and although I don't hear voices, I do feel quite hopeless and sad a lot. Could this be gluten related? I am...
  2. I know how hard it is when you're worried about your child's weight. My son is the same way that you described, but he does not have celiac. He also has gained less than a pound since he was 8 months and he will be 18 months in a few weeks. He isn't even 23 lbs yet. My son eats all the time so I don't really have a problem that way. I have heard of...
  3. I'm so sorry your family is going through this right now. I have been thinking about your daughter. I pray that she embraces the help that she's getting right now. I'm praying for strength for you all. Take care
  4. My son tested negative for gluten sensitivity through enterolab. He was just over one-year old at the time. He does carry one celiac gene, however. We had the full panel run on him. My dd tested positive and has improved dramatically on the diet. I was a skeptic too. I believe that the only reason you usually see posts from people who tested positive...
  5. I just wanted to say that you and your family, especially Tianna, are in my thoughts and prayers. I know that you are doing the right thing by getting her the help that she needs. This is something that will not go away on its own and something that needs LOTS of professional help. I hope that you all find the strength and patience that it will take for...
  6. It's the weekend and I can't call about this one. I bought these for myself, but my daughter has been taking drinks of them. Nothing looks suspicious on the label, but we are currently trying to figure out if she's getting some gluten from somewhere because she is having the outburts of anger and saying that her tummy hurts often. She just doesn't seem...
  7. Thanks so much for your insight. I guess it's always going to be a guessing game as to whether it's gluten or a virus like Rotavirus. So far my 3 year old seems fine so hopefully if it is a virus she will stay healthy. I did call the dr. and they said just to push fluids. Jack is drinking plenty and even a lot more than usual, but he doesn't seem...
  8. I called the dentist today and she said that I should stop giving Ella vitamins with extra iron because that can cause the darkening of the teeth. I guess we'll go with that for now and see how it goes. I had been giving her the vitamins with extra iron because she has suffered so terrible with hair loss due to all of this and we wanted to make sure she...
  9. Thank you two for your responses. I am really thinking that this was gluten related. He is not vomiting today but has already had diarrhea 7 times. There is still undigested food in it and it is very pale and stinky. He is otherwise fine and running around playing. He has no fever. I would think that with a stomach flu he would have a fever and being...
  10. I know that loss of enamel can be a symptom of celiac, but would it start to happen after 8 months gluten-free? My dd's two front teeth are looking sort of gray and you can see that the enamel is just going away or wearing down. she has definitely had some gluten accidents, but for the most part has been 100% gluten-free. What do you all think? I...
  11. I just wanted to add that he has had quite a few more of the clay-colored stools and they have undigested food in them now including cheese and hotdog. I am assuming that this is due to gluten, but his dr. will probably want to test for giardia again.
  12. Thank you both so much for your suggestions. I have tried cutting out some sugars. She doesn't like cranberry juice though. We'll see what happens. I didn't know that frequent urination can be from getting gluten. That's interesting. I feel like I'm always trying to figure out what's going on with my kids!! I appreciate your help and I guess we...
  13. As some of you know, we have been trying hard to figure out what has been causing my son's chronic diarrhea and lack of growth. We have had him gluten-free for awhile now and his diarrhea cleared up and he has gained a little weight. Yesterday he accidentally got some gluten. Within 30 min. he had diarrhea, but it was normal brown. He had diarrhea about...
  14. My gluten intolerant 3 year old has been having a problem with urination for the past couple of weeks. She seems to have to go VERY frequently and often dribbles some in her panties and screams out, "I wet my pants!" Her teachers lately have been commenting on the fact that she seems to need to go an awful lot and they are making me feel as though she goes...
  15. My gluten intolerant 3 year old has been drinking soy milk for the past 2 years. Now I'm starting to freak out. My little guy drinks it too. Do I really need to be worried about this? My dd had her thyroid tested in Aug. and her TSH was 2.75. They said that was normal. She had another test too that was supposedly normal. I guess we should try...
  16. My daughter had negative blood tests despite lots of symptoms. She never had the biopsy. We started the diet and she was so much better but we too wanted more confirmation so we ordered tests from enterolab. They were positive for gluten sensitivity. My son also had symptoms of celiac disease. He also had bloodwork that came back neg and he had the...
  17. I didn't get anything. You can just e-mail me at skilstrom@hotmail.com if you'd like and I'm sure I'll get that. I hope your little guy is doing well! Shannon
  18. My daughter had the exact thing happen with her. In fact, it was one of our main concerns with her. She had an absolutely insatiable appetite (eating for an hour at a time and HUGE portions) and had like your son, fallen off the growth chart. She also had a large distended tummy. Toward the end she was anemic and started losing much of her hair. We are...
  19. ok, I am now worried too. I feed those to my little girl all the time with peanut butter on them for snacks. I also give her the little mini ones for snacks. Is it just a CC issue, or are they really not gluten-free?
  20. thank you for your response. I am still having quite a bit of pain and had a really bad night last night, so I called my dr. this morning and they got me in with a GI today! I love my family dr. They are so quick about getting appointments set. The GI said that he thinks I have IBS or a spastic colon. He gave me some medication (anti-spasmodics)...
  21. I usually post here because my little girl is gluten intolerant and we have gotten much needed advice and support from such wonderful people on here. My question today is about myself. I have been suffering for the last week from terrible stomach pains that are basically like severe menstrual cramps at times that go from my back around to my stomach....
  22. I'm glad to hear that some of you have older ones who are able to remember and remind their teachers. I know Ella will soon be able to do that too. She is feeling a bit better today although she still had some diarrhea. Hopefully she'll be all better again by tomorrow! Again, thanks for sharing the stories. I'm sure Ella will eventually learn how...
  23. I thought I would share this with those who understand! My dd was given a regular cookie at school on friday. It was a Valentine's day party and I brought her a gluten-free cupcake, but there was a sub in her room (the regular head teacher was also there) and she gave dd the cookie on accident. They realized it right away and she only took one bite, but...
  24. Thanks for your response, Merika. I with there was more research out on this because I find it really interesting. Probably just because I have one child with a proven sensitivity and one without, so I'm curious! Thanks for thinking of Ella. She is feeling better and overall is doing SO well. We have a totally different child now and it's such...
