ARCHIVED Sand-like Or Grainy Stoolse&j0304 replied to e&j0304's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs Thank you, Nancy! I will be looking for your post with the answer. I really want to get to the bottom of this for him! Sometimes I do wonder about dairy, but he eats yogurt and cheese with no problem. He seems to have a hard time with cow's milk though and usually drinks soy. Again, thanks for your help! Evie, My kids are both gluten free although...

ARCHIVED Sand-like Or Grainy Stoolse&j0304 replied to e&j0304's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs ok. I've just spent almost an hour looking online for information about sandy or grainy stools and have found pretty much NOTHING!!! Maybe my kiddos are just weird. I do have to get a new prescription diaper rash cream for ds though. His little bottom is now bleeding from the diarrhea. I've never seen a diaper rash this bad before and I feel so badly...

ARCHIVED Sand-like Or Grainy Stoolse&j0304 replied to e&j0304's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs My kids' stools almost look like they literally ate sand from a sandbox. It is very hard to get off their skin with baby wipes. We don't have a sandbox and they have not been around one, so I know that's not what it is. No doctor that we have brought this up with has been able to help us. Just wondering if anyone on here had experienced it...

ARCHIVED Sand-like Or Grainy Stoolse&j0304 posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs I know that Ella's stools used to be like this (pre gluten-free diet), so maybe this is just my kids, but can it be due to gluten? I have the feeling that ds got into something because he has been having diarrhea again for days. It is also very sandy or grainy in consistency and it is making his little bottom RAW. He is miserable. I was just wondering...

ARCHIVED Child Hair Loss Related To Celiac?e&j0304 replied to gabby's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms My dd had very bad hair loss and was actually bald or near-bald on parts of her head. We actually couldn't even put her hair up in a ponytail because you could really see where all the hair was missing. Her hair fell out in large clumps when gently tugged on and also fell out if we combed it. She still has thin hair although it is no longer falling out...

ARCHIVED Tummy Still Looks Bloatede&j0304 replied to e&j0304's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs I'm sorry they didn't have more answers for you. I don't even know if I can give Gas-X to a 3 year old. I'm sorry your dd had to hear that comment about her looking pregnant. Little kids can be so cruel. I hope she handled it ok. Let me know if they end up testing her for anything. Good luck!

ARCHIVED Tummy Still Looks Bloatede&j0304 replied to e&j0304's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs Is it just her stomach that is big? My dd is only 3 1/2 and is a little chubby in her arms and legs although I wouldn't say for a second that she is "overweight". She is only about 30lbs, which is average for her age. She just has such a huge tummy. She was quite skinny in her arms and legs before going gluten-free and although she has filled out everywhere...

ARCHIVED Tummy Still Looks Bloatede&j0304 posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs My dd's stomach still looks quite bloated a lot of the time. What could be causing this? She has been gluten-free for almost a year now and although it looked much better initially, it has started looking more bloated again lately. Any ideas? I just don't accept the "toddler tummy" answer because it is not just a chubby toddler tummy. It is distended...

ARCHIVED Tooth Discoloratione&j0304 replied to e&j0304's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs Thank you. I actually did take her into the dentist and they got it off her teeth. They told me to wipe her teeth off if I noticed it again. It was just from excess iron. I haven't really had a problem with it since, actually! Thanks for your suggestion though.

ARCHIVED New Dora The Explorer Cereale&j0304 replied to e&j0304's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications It is in the shape of little stars. I'm so glad that some of you have gotten to try some. Ella and Jack love it too. It's funny because when we usually see kid cereal at the store I hurry by before Ella has a chance to notice whatever character is on it and don't usually even bother reading labels because they're almost never gluten-free. For whatever...

ARCHIVED New Dora The Explorer Cereale&j0304 replied to e&j0304's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications I really don't know about the CC issues, but I kind of figured that if people were ok with Trix and Cocoa Puffs which are also General Mills, that this Dora cereal would be the same kind of thing. Also, Post has non-gluten-free cereals and Fruity Pebbles are ok, right? I did notice on the box that it doesn't even have the disclaimer "This product was...

ARCHIVED New Dora The Explorer Cereale&j0304 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications I just stumbled upon this at the grocery store today. I had never seen it before. It is corn based no ingredients contain gluten. I read the label many times and even called General Mills and they confirmed that they do not "hide" gluten and it would be clearly stated as wheat, oat, barely, or rye. I just though I would pass this along because I'm sure...

ARCHIVED White Stools....but No Other Symptomse&j0304 replied to taweavmo3's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs The new boxes of Trix with a copyright of 2006 are gluten-free. There is no wheat starch listed in the ingredients. I know it's confusing because there are still lots of 2005 boxes on shelves and those do contain wheat. Hope that helped. I hope you figure out what's going on with Emmie soon!

ARCHIVED What's The Deal With Corn Gluten And Rice Gluten?e&j0304 replied to e&j0304's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications Hi Matilda, I just back on this thread today. Thank you for asking about Ella. That's so sweet of you! She is doing very well right now. We had a rocky period a few weeks ago but we're over that now. I was getting a little too lenient with what I was letting her have and not calling companies well enough. We're back to a more strict gluten-free diet...

ARCHIVED What's The Deal With Corn Gluten And Rice Gluten?e&j0304 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications Just wondering if these are ok or not? I am confused because they are obviously gluten, but not from wheat, oats, barely or rye... Anyone know?

ARCHIVED Seemingly Endless Appitite?e&j0304 replied to sarahelizabeth's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs Endless appetite was the main problem that we had with my dd. She would eat ALL the time and was also very tiny. Only 18lbs and 27inches at a year old. She should have been 40lbs at least. She was so malnourished before we figured out that gluten was the problem that her hair was falling out in clumps and she was actually bald in spots on her head. She...

ARCHIVED I Dont Get It?e&j0304 replied to minibabe's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications I just bought a few boxes of gluten-free Trix today since they were on sale at my local grocery store for $2 a box!! anyway, the copyright just says 2006 and they expire Jan 13, 2007. This is the first time I've found them and I've been looking for a long time. This is a new box with a DVD Game included and shown through on the front of the box. It's...

ARCHIVED gluten-free Ice Cream Cones?e&j0304 replied to e&j0304's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications We're in the Midwest. I get most of her gluten-free products from a chain here called Hy-Vee. There is also a store here called Greatest Grains, which may carry them. I looked at the two closest Hy-Vee stores here and didn't see them but they all seem to carry different things so I'm going to call around. Thanks again!

ARCHIVED gluten-free Ice Cream Cones?e&j0304 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications I guess my title says it all. I would love to give dd an ice cream cone and I haven't found a cone that is gluten-free anywhere. Any suggestions? Thanks :-)

ARCHIVED Hpp, Hvp, And Msge&j0304 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications Does anyone know for sure? According to Dangerous Grains, they shouldn't be consumed if you're trying to be gluten free, but I thought that they were ok to eat. I am trying to get back to the basics with my dd because we are having some contamination issues or something with her and I am wondering if these could be culprits. Let me know what you tihnk...

ARCHIVED What Is "wasting" Or "wasted Buttocks"?e&j0304 replied to wonkabar's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms Oh my gosh! My toddler looked JUST like that drawing before she went gluten free. However, sometimes she still looks kind of like that and still doesn't have a butt. She has been gluten-free for almost a year. Is that normal? Sometimes I just wonder if that's how she was built... It has gotten better, but isn't fully gone. Just wondering what you...

ARCHIVED Looking For Answers For My 4 Year Old Son Pleasee&j0304 replied to Chako's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs I just wanted to say that my gluten intolerant dd used to have sandy, grainy stools and NO dr could ever say what caused that. Now that she's gluten free it cleared up. I don't know if that would have cleared up on its own or not... I wish you the best of luck. I hope you find the answers you're looking for.
