ARCHIVED Lotions?
BabySnooks replied to hez's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi Carrie, Do you know anything about Keri lotion? The bottle I have appears to be one of the older design bottles (green and white). Sharon -
ARCHIVED Lipton Cup-a-soups
BabySnooks replied to BabySnooks's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thanks to all of you for your input. Unilever does state that the ingredients will indicate if there is gluten in the soup. According to what I read, both cream of chicken and tomato are both ok. One of you mentioned tomato with croutons. I have tomato that is a few months old. The ingredients in the tomato soup are: whey, tomato powder, sugar, potato... -
ARCHIVED Lipton Cup-a-soups
BabySnooks posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi there, I have been busy calling and emailing manufacturers with questions about their specific products. One of them, Lipton, said that if there is gluten in the product, it will be mentioned in the incredients (e.g., contains wheat, rye, barley, oats). I use cream of chicken and tomato soups a lot in my casseroles. The Campbell's condensed soups... -
ARCHIVED Manna From Anna
BabySnooks replied to skinnyminny's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Dear Skinny, I agree, Anna's bread is so good! I get mine at Nutri Foods in Royal Oak, Michigan for $7.59. I am sorry, but don't know how much it is at stores across the country. A hint to make it moister: before you make your sandwich, zap slices in the microwave for just a few seconds. Good luck. Sharon -
ARCHIVED First Glutening In A While

Hi, That's interesting....I thought popcorn from a vendor at a fair, mall, etc. is safe....what do they put on it that contains gluten? Sharon -
ARCHIVED Bread Recipee
BabySnooks replied to happy4dolphins's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Dear happy, I suggest using Anna's bread mix. I have had success with baking it in both in glass pans and metal pans and it comes out beautiful! It also tastes like real bread and looks like it, except of course gluten-free bread doesn't rise as high as regular bread does. Every other bread or mix I have tried has been disgusting. The Bob's Red Mills... -

BabySnooks replied to Nantzie's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications

ARCHIVED Frustrated With gluten-free Bread Options
BabySnooks replied to kimber's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have to agree--all the ready-made breads are disgusting! I threw them all out and then heard about Anna's bread mix. Closest to regular bread so far. Big hint: put slices in microwave for 3 to 4 seconds before you eat....makes a huge difference! I will try Pamela's bread mix, but right now Anna has the best bread! By the way, Pamela's pancake and... -

Thanks icanary (and all others who responded). Your recipe for peanut butter cookies is missing something I think. Isn't there some kind of flour to bind the peanut butter, Splenda and egg together? I love this site. People are so helpful! -

ARCHIVED Gluten Free And Sugar Free Recipes
BabySnooks posted a topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Hi everyone, I was diagnosed with celiac July, 2005. Unfortunately, I was also diagnosed with diabetes in May, 2005. I have not seen any mention of how to cope with cooking and baking (mostly baking) foods that contain no gluten and no sugar, but substitutes. In the specialty bakeries I visit, I don't see any products that are sugar free and gluten... -
Melissa, Try Breads from Anna bread mix. You have to bake it yourself, but it is well worth the effort. It tastes like real bread! Good luck getting back on track. Don't beat yourself up--dealing with celiac is not easy, but you can do it. Sharon

ARCHIVED Who's From Michigan?
BabySnooks replied to StrongerToday's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Hi, I am from Madison Heights, Michigan. Was gluten-free for 3 1/2 months, now am doing a gluten challenge. I don't know why, since blood work and endoscopy were positive. Who am I to argue with the doctor, I am really enjoying my vacation from being gluten free. LOL Sharon -
ARCHIVED Think I Wasted My Money .....
BabySnooks replied to Bonnie's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Hi Yvonne, I too was discouraged, trying at least four different frozen breads and they all sucked. I now bake loaves from Breads by Anna and this bread is wonderful. Try it, you'll like it! -
HI, I make my Anna's bread in the oven and it turns out wondeful.

ARCHIVED Blood Tests
BabySnooks replied to NYCisTHEplaceTObe's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi Kaiti, I felt exactly the same on the gluten-free diet as I did before and as I feel now--fine! That's why I have to rely on the results of tests. I have no symptoms. For those of you who unfortunately get very ill after ingesting gluten, you go gluten-free and feel better, case closed. I think my doctor just wants to be sure. Thanks for your... -
ARCHIVED Blood Tests
BabySnooks replied to NYCisTHEplaceTObe's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Dear Kaiti, I had an Endoscopy/Colonoscopy in July. The doctor (whom I am very happy with) said the small bowel biopsies showed flattening of the villi and increased inflammatory cells suggestive of celiac sprue. Antibody blood tests revealed 2 of the antibody tests were in the normal range and 2 were in the elevated range. He suggested I go gluten... -

ARCHIVED The Best Gf Bread Ever!
BabySnooks replied to cornbread's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I agree, Anna's breads are a gift from heaven. I use the regular bread mix. I am lucky, as I can buy the mix locally and bake two loaves with the one bag of mix. It is much cheaper than buying a loaf of that disgusting gluten-free bread they sell in the freezer in specialty stores! If Anna (who lives in Iowa) were here right now, I would give her a big... -

Richard, Do you know if hydrochlorothiazide and Micro K potassium have gluten in them? I have the list of safe drugs from www.glutenfreedrugs, and these 2 are not listed. My pharmacy could not help me. I just found out I have been taking calcium with gluten for the past 3 months! Thanks Sharon -

ARCHIVED Celiac Specialities
BabySnooks replied to mamaw's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
You are so right about Celiac Specialties. They make good foods. The only item that is not good is their bread. It is no better than the others I have tried yuck! However, I picked up a bag of bread mix from Breads from Anna and bakes two loaves and they actually taste like bread! I am now happily eating toast again in the morning. Sharon -
