  1. Well...I was hoping that Kiss My Face didnt have any products with gluten in them...that way no chance of cc. Bummer. I use California Baby shampoo...I didnt know they have soap??? That would be great if they do because I have no worries with the shampoo. I love that stuff...even if it doesnt get all soapy like regular shampoo.
  2. Yes, I put up a new photo. Getting into the "spirit" of things...I love Christmas...its my favorite holiday. I bought a new soap today "Kiss My Face". Anyone familiar with that brand? I have no idea if its any safer than the dove. I'm going to order some of that Savonnerie and see if I notice any improvement. Do you really feel that the Dove...
  3. Channon, Enterolab does gene testing. You don't need a doctor...you can order the test from their website. The gene testing by itself is around $150. I think there are other labs who do gene testing but I'm only familiar with Enterolab.
  4. OK...Since I use Dove soap everyday and didnt really know cc could be an issue with soap..I'd like to use something I know for sure is safe. Especially since I seem to get glutened constantly and dont know why...or if its even gluten. I was never careful with the soap since I thought it was 100% gluten-free...I wash my face with it and put lots on...
  5. I had a similar experience with Aubrey Organics lotion. It had wheat germ oil and I gradually got sicker and sicker over the 2 weeks I used it. It was miserable and I lost lots of weight.
  6. Bean, Sorry you are having to deal with that. Did you ever try Nystatin oral powder? It tastes really bad (like cardboard) but for me I think it works better than Diflucin. I actually havent had a single "girlie" yeast infection the whole time I've been sick but I have a mess of other symptoms and my tongue is white near the back. It *seems...
  7. I guess I felt a little "attacked" by your post. I'm over it now.
  8. If the hairspray doesnt have any obvious gluten in the ingredients does that mean its safe? I use Finesse and it doesnt list anything with wheat or oat or anything like that. I was never sure so I usually hold my breath while I spray and then leave the room for a couple minutes. I always feel kind of like a paranoid freak doing this though.
  9. Yeah...if I was healthy I would still be eating wheat and I still wouldnt even know that pasta was made from wheat because I had no reason to care before. I dont think I've *ever* told a healthy person not to eat wheat. I dont preach to anyone and I really could care less what other people eat. I was simply stating that wheat wasnt in our diets forever and...
  10. Actually in the whole "scheme" of things....grains havent really been in our diet for all that long. If you read Dangerous Grains it explains all this. After humans introduced grains into their diet their brain size diminished, their bones were smaller and they became shorter and less robust. I really dont think that wheat is healthy at all...even if you...
  11. Kim, When you post a topic it goes to the back of all the other topics in the forum until a moderator reads it and "pins" it. Then it will go to the front. Sometimes it can take a few hours until your topic is pinned. You can always see your topic (even before its pinned) in "today's active topics"....which is a link toward the bottom of the main page...
  12. Your Mom has a great way of explaining things. I like that kind of "scientific" talk!
  13. Yes, the tests can come back "false" negative. It seems to happen alot...the tests arent perfect. I think its great that you have a doctor that thought of testing you in the first place. Even better that she is recommending a gluten-free diet despite the negative bloodwork. I'd keep her if I were you. Lots of Celiacs are overweight. Its a misconception...
  14. You're right about that. The doctors shouldn't be telling him to start the diet and then come back for tests. His results are going to be inconclusive or negative. I dont understand this about doctors??? Why do they always tell people to go gluten-free BEFORE the tests....its like they WANT people to have negative results when it comes to celiac disease...
  15. I'm no expert so I could be wrong on this but I *think* that what happens is this: The immune system identifies gluten in the body and creates specific antibodies against it. The next time gluten is consumed the immune system recognizes it and begins attacking it. I dont think the intestines are specifically targeted but they are damaged in the process...
  16. Alcohol and caffeine are two very strong irritants to the gut. I would definately avoid alcohol with all the problems you've been having....its not going to help with healing whether its got gluten in it or not. Thats just my 2 cents. If you have leaky gut the alcohol will make you feel worse so if you do end up drinking and feel bad because of it...it...
  17. I agree...it is strange that he wants her to still eat gluten once a week despite her diagnosis. Maybe he's in denial? Anyways, like MySuicidalTurtle said focus on HER....make her understand what kind of damage "cheating" can cause. Have the doctor explain it to her as well. Its not like your husband can shove it down her throat....just make sure she...
  18. That made me laugh! Whenever I walk down the bakery aisle at work I'm kind of sketchy like that. I find myself holding my breath when I walk past the flour....like its gonna *get* me.
  19. Kaiti, Where do you get them? I want to try sublingual B-12's but dont know where to find a good brand?
  20. I cant seem to eat any of the brands that are processed in a facility w/ wheat. It pretty much sucks...I've tried quite a few brands. I like Enjoy Life products and they havent bothered me. I just dont buy stuff that has that warning anymore. Maybe when I'm 100% I'll be less sensitive. I dunnno but thats what I'm hoping.
  21. That was such a good way of explaining things! Its exactly what happened with me. As soon as I went gluten-free the very first day I started reacting to EVERYTHING. It was crazy...I had major food and chemical sensitivities. I could smell chemicals in everything...even paper. It lasted about a week and during that time I honestly felt I was dying. The detoxing...
  22. I take Essential Enzymes (cant remember who makes them) and also probiotics.
  23. Me too!
  24. Yeah...I've read that before and they use a seperate room...blah...blah...blah. I dunno cuz I react to the flaxmeal and the buckwheat flour....thats all I've tried...scared of Bob's now. I'm not positive about the buckwheat flour since I used it for pancakes and was licking my fingers which were covered with wheat germ oil from my lotion. ...
