ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
Rachel--24 replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Hmmmm.....I've wondered about this before but it just doesnt seem to "fit" for me. I dont think its a defense mechanism for me....its just part of who I am I guess. I've just always been that way and I dont really carry around emotional baggage or anything. I've always had good coping skills until I got sick. I've been tested for emotional issue type... -

Theres no machine. You can have someone who's trained test you but I dont think its a good idea to try to test yourself. I've only been tested when theres 3 people involved. I'm the testee...Scott and Dr. Amy are doing the testing. The first time it was Scott and his friend who tested me. Scott knows ART...he's gotten very good at it...but he doesnt test... -

Well OK then....I guess that didnt help much did it! OMG....its totally my FAVORITE since it first came out. I saw it twice in the theater and now I own it. I saw it with my ex when it first came out around Xmas time. Remember at the very beginning when Iris is kind of lovesick and well....kinda pathetic (to be more blunt)?? Well right... -
ARCHIVED Autism And My Son + Gluten = A Whole Lot Of Crazy!
Rachel--24 replied to cutemizanie's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I dont have any kids and I'm not autistic....but I have alot of the same issues so I've done alot of research and have learned quite a bit along the way. All of my Dr.'s are also treating ASD's. In addition to gluten-free/cf you might want to consider removing things like food colorings/dyes (red 40, yellow, blue, etc)...those can cause alot of problems... -

Carla, Yeah...I remember you mentioning something like this...or at least "hinting" that something like that had happened in your life. I'll be ok.....I dont think it'll have a dramatic impact on my health or anything. Its not like going through a break-up or losing someone completely. I'll be fine. It'll just be "different"....and my phone... -
ARCHIVED Celiac Testing
Rachel--24 replied to AliB's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Usually what you're seeing in a provocation test is only a tiny fraction of whats actually stored in the body. I'm not sure which chealtor was used for your challenge but each one has a strong affinity for certain metals and will pull those out first. EDTA is used primarily to treat lead poisoning but its a "weak" chelator for mercury. If you use EDTA then... -

LOL!! Nooooooo....its definately not the "water" guy. I never took him up on his offer....he still comes into my work but nope....its not him. I cant go to Germany until I'm able to eat more foods. I dont wanna be stressing over foods when I'm there...I wanna eat whatever I want. Homemade spaghetti (which actually has sauce on it!), sausages, garlic... -

As far as prescriptions go Alinia is a broad spectrum antiparasitic. Its effective for treating a LONG list of parasites....including Giardia. -

Next week....wednesday. I dont think it'll be a permanent move....maybe 2 years...I dunno. I'm thinking that since I have problems with short term memory all of this might be forgotten in a few weeks anyway. -
ARCHIVED Gluten Enzymes
Rachel--24 replied to jasonD2's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I think if I had Celiac I would probably take GlutenEase whenever risk for CC is high. It just makes sense to me. Why be miserable if you may be able to prevent it by taking the enzyme. The way I see it is that it cant hurt to try to lessen the possibility of reaction caused by CC. The only enzymes I have any experience with (of those mentioned above)... -

Thanks Birdy! I guess it might help if I actually checked my email. I did get one email right after I purchased the test but I never checked after that. I lost track...who had the highest score? Who had the lowest? I know someone beat out Paula (which I'm sure made her feel better ).....was it April? -

Rachel--24 replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I dont know Paula....it could be the stress from the c/s that pushed you over the edge. If you were already "on the edge" it doesnt take much to push us over sometimes. You can find out about sulfites by using the sulfite strips. Kassandra took that test not too long ago. I'd do it too but I dont wanna pay the dang $55 shipping charge! LOL... -

Rachel--24 replied to Julia'sMom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I've seen the percentage for those of us with parasites at over 90%! Unfortunately, like you said the tests arent usually picking them up. There are hundreds of different parasites but testing is only available for a maybe around 50 of them. Awhile back I was seeing a Dr. who specialized in gluten intolerance and leaky gut issues. He told me that EVERY... -

ARCHIVED Gluten Enzymes
Rachel--24 replied to jasonD2's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Yeah...you can take Peptizyde in combination with other enzymes...so you can still take the Biogest along with it. There arent any side effects other then a "peptide withdrawl" which some autistic kids experience. Dont know if adults ever experience that with Peptizyde. Its basically withdrawl symptoms as the peptides are decreased in the body. -

Yes! Thats the way it should be. Thats the kind of relationship I have with my doctors and I totally LOVE it. I can go in there and feel like an equal. They're always interested in what I have to say....I dont get dismissed. My thoughts and opinions matter. One of my MD's started out conventional....but now he's integrative. Its like the best of both... -

Ok...so I never got to take the VCS. I'm gonna have to email them. Donna, I paid with paypal too. I didnt want to but somehow it went to paypal. Anyways, is this why I'm having problems getting the test? It still says I have 0 VCS's. Oh....heres my word of advice for the day. Never fall for someone who's moving to another country!!... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Enzymes
Rachel--24 replied to jasonD2's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Peptizyde isnt recommended for anyone with Celiac...not sure if you have celiac disease or not but just wanted to put that out there. Its is a good choice for people who are very sensitive. It only contains the enzymes necessary for protein digestion...no other enzymes are included. You would have to use additional enzymes for carbs, fats, etc (if you need... -

Rachel--24 replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Yeah....its totally possible. I dont know if you remember me posting all that stuff about sulfites and epinephrine awhile back but Dr. Amy was wanting to look into that since I have problems with the sulfation pathway and prior to having my fillings drilled out I had anesthesia containing epinephrine (sodium metabisulfite). She was thinking that could... -

I'm glad you have a good doctor now too. I really went through it the first few years because I couldn't get any Dr.'s to even listen to me...let alone help me. I think finding good doctors is the hardest part. No doctor knows it all...and mine have made some mistakes and have missed some things (like the copper toxicity) but I do trust them. For the... -

Thats the right way to have it done! Too bad I didnt know any of this stuff ahead of time...I was so clueless! When I went to a mercury free dentist for the removal of the remaining fillings I had the blood test for compatibility. He took everything out. The previous dentist put in composites after I told him to remove the gold crowns but we didnt know... -

Meredith, I'm pretty sure it means your husband has to have a DQ1 gene....if you're sure the DQ2 came from you. You and your husband could both have a DQ1 gene. I'm not very knowledgable about the genes but I think thats right. Your boys are cute...I'm sure having your 3 year old on the diet will make a difference. -

Two of the dentists I've seen were treated for mercury toxicity. One of them has since totally switched his practice and is now mercury-free and safely removing fillings from his patients. From what I understand ALOT of dentists are mercury toxic. A couple of the most expeirenced Dr.'s in the country who treat mercury toxicity have said that they get alot...
