Hi Little! I'm doing well...thanks! Dont worry about catching up on the thread....we're there whenever you wanna pop in. I actually only tolerate organic grass fed meat. I dont do well with chicken and just stick with the beef, which I have no problems with. I dont do well with fats either...but for some reason even with my restricted diet I am...

ARCHIVED Are There Docs Who Specialize In Auto Immune Disorders, Like Celiac
Rachel--24 replied to dizzygrinch's topic in Doctors
If you have autoimmune thyroid disease you would see an endocrinologist, for rheumatoid arthritis you would see a rheumatologist. MS, Parkinsons and other neurologiocal conditions would be addressed by a neurologist. Vitiligo patients would see a dermatologist. Celiac is a GI disease....so a gastro doc is who you would need to see. I dont believe that... -
Well, this is not surrprising at all...isnt this the exact same statement we've been hearing for years now? This was my point in the recent thread on this same topic...I personally do not feel that its right for Dr. Fine to lead people to believe that he is about to publish....when it seems quite obvious that he's not. I do not necessarily need to see...

ARCHIVED What Veggies Are We Likely To Be Intolerent To?
Rachel--24 replied to Bell's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Cabbage, onions and garlic are all high in sulfur.....if you have similar problems with those foods sulfur would be the most likely culprit. Mushrooms are not a high sulfur food.....so that could be a seperate issue. -
I would agree with Andrea about needing the protein from meat in order to help detoxify the metals. However, if you have elevated ammonia (did you have a urine amino acid analysis?) you would want to limit the protein. Certain problems in the methylation cycle can result in excess ammonia and high protein can make that worse. Do you tolerate meat or eggs...

Paula.....I just found out the results take a LONG time to come back. I'm looking at 6-8 weeks.....and since we're going into the holidays I dont know if it might take even longer! Thats really frusterating me right now. I was planning on getting these results back before my next Dr. visit. I definately cant hold off that long....but I feel kind... -

Donna....I hope you do ok with the jello. I'll cross my fingers that you dont have problems. Glad you are keeping the liquids down today. Paula....the holidays were depessing to me also.....but only because I'm still sick. I can imagine how much harder it is if you are missing a loved one on top of it. {{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}} Last year was the... -

Donna, Sorry to hear that yesterday was rough for you. I hope it passes soon and that all is well with a speedy recovery. -
ARCHIVED What In The World Could It Be?
Rachel--24 replied to a topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Intolerances to certain foods or chemicals (even naturally occuring ones) can cause both rashes and dry skin. You may want to investigate possible intolerances to food chemicals (i.e. salicylates, amines, glutamates and sulfur). These types of intolerances are actually more common than having reactions to the foods themselves. More often than not when... -

Rachel--24 replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Well....I'm actually really starting to understand the genes involved in the methylation cycle. So far I only have partial status on COMT. I will find out more about how well this enzyme functions when I get the nutrigenomic results back. I'm getting excited now that things are starting to make more sense to me....and I cant wait to get my results on... -

I remember reading that if you have problems with dizziness, etc. after a hot bath or shower it may help to drink water before you get in the bath. I dont know how vaild this is....but I do it (when I think of it)....just in case. Congrats on the new job Lisa!!! Nope....you wont catch me cheatin on my taxes. This reminds me though... -

I had to go back to see what the racing heart was all about... I suspected Sjogrens for myself at one time....but for me the symptoms cleared up with diet changes. I also have swelling/pain in front of my ears, behind my ears, under my ears, jaw area...between my eyes....and basically all over my head. I spent alot of time with... -

I'm a little behind with reading. I dont know if I'll catch up. My friend is here from Germany....YAY!! I was busy all weekend with some fun projects and probably the same this weekend. I did catch a cold a couple days ago....so far its not too bad and my body is fighting it so as long as I dont push myself I think it wont linger too long. ... -

ARCHIVED Antibiotics And Gut/bowel Disorders
Rachel--24 replied to AliB's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I chose "older" in the second section but I also thought I should mention that my symptoms developed before I ever took antibiotics. I was given antibiotics for unexplained skin symptoms that I was having...which at the time was labeled "rosacea". I believe the antibiotics worsened my condition but I can also say with certainty that they didnt cause my... -
ARCHIVED How To Interpret Transglutaminase (ttg) Igg
Rachel--24 replied to Amy Hull Brown's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Were they tested for IgA deficiency (total serum IgA)? If they are deficient in IgA....they would have negative IgA test results even if they have Celiac and even if they were still consuming gluten. This is one possibility for negative IgA tests and positive IgG. Also, its possible to have elevated tTG which is not caused by Celiac. tTG has been... -
ARCHIVED Testing Results
Rachel--24 replied to holiday16's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
With all due respect can we please refrain from personal attacks?? Some people are clearly interested in what Mike has come up with in his tests...he was ASKED to provide a list. Everyone wondered why he wouldnt put up a list....and now there is a problem with him doing this? In my opinion its perfectly rerasonable to question the vaildity of the tests... -
I think the main reason that people expect Dr. Fine to publish for peer review is because he has SAID that he was going to do this. He has said this numerous times...he made that claim and yet he has not made any attempt (that anyone is aware of) to follow through on this. How many people actually based their decision (to pay for his test) on the fact...
-
I prefer not to argue...and I believe that its good to share both sides of an issue. People who are interested in the validity of this type of testing and in Dr. Fine himself can make a more informed decision if they are not only seeing one side. When I joined this board all of the info with regards to Enterolab was one sided and that prompted me to order...

Another thing that I personally dont agree with is the fact that if you have a high malabsorption score (I am one who scored high).....he leads you to believe that this malabsorption indicates damage directly related to gluten. There is absolutely NO way that he can come to that conclusion. These are two *seperate* tests and there are many things which...
