  1. My mom would say, "Consider the source!", and "Don't believe everything you read!" It's not true, and that's all there is to it!
  2. Dajago, I am not sure, from your post, if you are for, or against soy. I haven't figured that out. In the beginning, I was thinking that you were telling us to stop giving soy such a bad rap, then, reading the link you gave us, I'm not sure where you are going with this post. Your link proves we should not eat soy, just this section alone proves it: ...
  3. Oh yeah, me too. I can't imagine having a home with only one bathroom and more than one person. I used to say I wouldn't buy a home without lilac bushes, now I just want 2 potties!!!! Ravenwoodglass, I think you will do fine!!! We are all supporting you!
  4. Awwww, I'm sorry. I have to join the group of bathroom watchers. I will not shop where there is no bathroom, I always have to scope the place out first...not that I have diarrhea anymore, but I just feel the need to have a facility where I can get too it, if not, then panic sets in and I need one. I won't go to concerts because of the crowds, somedays...
  5. Ismall05--your posts are very upsetting ot me. You apologize and then stab in the same paragraph. You may be living life to the fullest, yet as they say, ignorance is bliss! Your first problem is, your doctor is ignorant to the problems with celiac disease. You need to find a doctor who knows what he/she is talking about. It is never ok for you...
  6. Sorry Timothy, pfizer lied to all of us. Now, they deny ever having said Xanax is gluten free. I spoke to a pharmicist at Pfizer about Xanax and their generic company Greenstone's generic Xanax...he said they both contain gluten, always have. I took them both and reacted to them. I now have Alprazolam from Mylan Labs, their pharmicist told me it's gluten...
  7. This kind of a 50-50 answer. 6 of one, half a dozen of another, which 6 do you feel safer believing? We in this forum, will never agree on this. I do not believe it's ok to just clean out an old toaster, and toasters are not that expensive, not when you weigh the odds of getting glutened against the price. Every toaster I have ever had, had a bottom that...
  8. Welcome to the forum Mike, and yes, you are probably getting gluten from CC. Once you are gluten free, the DH should clear up. It will also probably be the first sign of being glutened from now on. You may have to designate and area in the kitchen just for you, and always clean the area before using it...sometimes it takes others a long time to realize...
  9. Gfp is so right. What they believed to be true 10 yrs ago, has proven to be wrong, it's just doctors never thought of celiac disease as a problem. 10 yrs later, the numbers have changed significantly, and in less than 5 yrs, in my opinion, the standards will change again. Eventually, I'm sure gluten intolerance will be discribed like pre-type 2 diabetes...
  10. I have tried stevia, and I find it too bitter. I am not fond of it at all. Open Original Shared Link According to this site, 2 cups of sugar is the same as 1 tsp of Stevia.
  11. Thank you ShayFl...I needed that laugh!!! There must be another reason for my big feet, cause your balance problem is not mine!!! My guy friend tells me my sister pushed me out of the boobie line!!! Although, I do have a balance problem too!!! Now me, I loved basketball, wasn't great at it, but I loved it. My tallest son is a very good basketball...
  12. I have a pan I keep for when others visit, I cook their meat in it. My daughter uses a lot of seasoned salt, which is gluten free, but still makes me sick, so we can't cook our meats in the same pan. Even if we forget and share the lid, I get sick. I too, live alone, so my home is gluten free. When my daughter visits, she is very careful. Anyone else...
  13. You are so cute..hehe. Big feet really do not have anything to do with your height. My daughter is the same height as me, with smaller feet, and dainty hands. My dad was the same height as my ex husband, yet he wore a size 9 shoe and my ex wears 11 2/3. My son's are close in height, and the 2 closest, wear size 13 shoes, but their hands are no where...
  14. Dr. Oz says a lot of things that are very controversial. Research it, and what you can on your own. It sounds like a good sweetener, but may not be good for diabetics, as the others have said. I too, wonder about it since it is so high in fructose. I gave up high fructose corn syrup, just to get away from fructose.
  15. No, trauma is a trigger, it doesn't cause it to happen, gluten sensitivity was already there, just waiting for a trigger. Read up on "triggers" for gluten sensitivity/intolerance/celiac disease. Everything tells us the disease was there, just waiting for a trigger. I think I have had this problem my whole life, but my 2nd pregnancy kicked it into full...
  16. Yes, I know my ex and his borthers all have the same mom and dad. Their eyes are all like their dad's, 3 of my sons have that same familiar look, my other 2 kids look like me, my daughter so much like me. My sister is 5'3, her husband is 5'11 or so and all 3 of their kids are tall. As I said, height is not always determined by celiac disease. I belong...
  17. I never cut out dairy, in the beginning, I ate a lot of cottage cheese with some fruit stirred in, like peaches, pears, fruit cocktail..sometimes I stirred peas into it. Can I ask why you have given up so many foods in just a month? Try to eat very bland, a baked potato, rice, chicken breast, cod...very simple. Stay away from heavy spices for now, and...
  18. To begin with, not all celiac's are short. Short stature is only one symptom of celiac disease. Often times, your height is determined by family genes. The doctor I work for says that a son will always be taller than his mother, and to be honest, I find this to be true. My sons are all tall, all 6' and taller. My dad, and my son's dad are both 5'11"...
  19. My symptoms with soy intolerance is much the same as gluten. The only difference is, I get constipated with soy, always had diarrhea with gluten.
  20. No, she isn't that smart. She truly does not understand the "why's" of gluten intolerance. She honestly does not think she is dropping any crumbs, and she does not understand how easily she could make me ill. She would be very upset if she really did make me sick, yet she can't understand the importance of not having gluten in my work area...none of them...
  21. Well, maybe it's time to not allow gluten in your home. You may be getting CC'd from that. I have been gluten free for 8 yrs, and I do react to the smallest amount of gluten...yet, I have never been glutened by a kiss. My guy rinses his mouth out after eating gluten, even washes his mustache, just to be sure he doesn't gluten me, and it works. I think...
  22. Hey Jillian (jkmunchkin), do you live in this area? I'm in East Islip, just a few miles west of Oakdale. My support group raves about Mama's.
  23. Wsieving...have you ever looked in the mirror to see if you have the same dimples! I do. I guess I never thought about it on dolls before. Of course, my daughter never liked dolls, so I guess I hadn't noticed them much. I'm betting you have them too!
  24. Yup Rya, very well put. Like my mom always says: Never say never! That which effects one person, does not always effect another, AND, just because it doesn't effect one, does not mean it isn't so!
  25. Exactly Violet...exactly how I feel.
