  1. This is only true of a few, not the majority! I have never cheated, not since day 1, and I never will. Of course, I do not eat out, because I do not trust others. If I eat at someone's home, I take my food.
  2. You summed it all up! I think we have all asked ourselves those questions. There are times, when a celiac can be sick, not associated with celiac. Now myself, I find I do not pick up bugs from others so quickly, now that I have been gluten free for years. I think some celiac's bodies, not all, are very good at fighting off outside influences, we just...
  3. Yup, I back Garnier Fructis. I've been using it for 5 yrs, and only it. It also seems very safe on my hair, really shines too!!!
  4. No--sorry, they should have said that all coffee's with any flavorings added MAY CONTAIN GLUTEN!!! You can never be sure with flavorings, unless it's specifically states gluten free. I was glutened by hazelnut coffee years ago. Many of your flavored teas now state they contain gluten!!! Folgers, Maxwell House, 8 O'Clock, are some of the gluten free...
  5. This is so true. I listened to a doctor speak at my support meeting the other night. She will not diagnose a patient as celiac unless they have a positive blood test and flattened villi. My first thought was, how many has she turned away with celiac?
  6. No offense taken. Me, on the other hand, can not understand how anyone would want to eat something that makes them so ill. I am being completely honest when I say I have never been tempted with gluten since day one. I was so sick, and for so long...when I finally had a reason why, I jumped for joy. I will say this, even though I have never been tempted...
  7. Well, I'm not sure if your question is your title???? Is rice all that good for us? Rice is a carb, and it is high in starches. It adds calories we don't need if we have a weight problem, and if we are diabetic too, too much rice is not good for us. Rice is the same as any food--too much of one thing is never good.
  8. Well, I have been gluten free for 8 yrs now, and I honestly am NEVER tempted by gluten. I am intolerant of so many things now--I honestly can say, I am not tempted by any of them. Not feeling good is enough to stop me from being tempted. When I went gluten free 8 yrs ago, I had been so sick, for so long, that I was never tempted then to eat gluten! Even...
  9. I think it's a personal choice. Me, I will not touch it!!! When I questioned Puritan Pride about barley grasses in their vitamins, their answer to me was: We do not feel there is enough gluten in barley grass to constitue listing it as gluten! Now, as far as I am concerned, that was the wrong answer for me. As long as they can say there is ANY gluten...
  10. I have been gluten free for 8 yrs next month. In the beginning, when I was lgutened, I knew in a very short time. Now it takes much longer, normally, and also, depending on the type of glutening. I am so limited on what I can eat anymore, it's very rare that I actually do get glutened. A couple of years ago, I got very sick on some Quaker Choc Chip Rice...
  11. I do not think that most celiac's can have wheat starch, I know I wouldn't trust it! In this website, it states: Open Original Shared Link I am going to have to try doing my own fingerprints now! Inquiring minds need to know!!!!!
  12. Many people suffer neuropathy from vitamin and mineral deficiencies. Many celiac's are very lucky to have their neuropathy symptoms reverse when they go gluten free...it's encouraging to hear so many of you doing so well. My symptoms never reversed, but they did stop progressing, which is great. I was diagnosed with carpal tunnel before I found out about...
  13. imsohungry--I don't think it is your monitor or mine. I am having the same problem with this forum. It just started a few days ago. It can't be my monitor, because it isn't happening in any of my other forums, only this one. I think something has been twinked in here. I know it was mentioned that Scott has been making some changes, so it very well may...
  14. I'm sorry, I'm not sure if I have read your posts before. It sounds as though you have had him gluten free before, and if you are going to go back to the gluten free lifestyle with him, then it must work! You do what you know is right, he is your child. We celiac's go through false negative testing all the time. Sometimes, the results are only as good...
  15. Just as another person stated....it is just as common for an undiagnosed celiac to be overweight, as it is to be underweight!!! A malnourished person, someone who is not absorbing vitamins and minerals, can gain weight, just as easily as lose it. I know it doesn't seem possible, but it's very true. I was well on my way to being morbidly obese (@260#+,...
  16. I think every celiac should be on a good multiple vitamin and B12. Always make sure your vitamins are gluten free. There are several brands out there now that are gluten free. I stick with Nature Made Brand Vitamins, and Natrol brand. As for B12, you should always take a methylcobalamin sublingual type. The amount of B12 you get in a B Complex vitamin...
  17. I get the flashing lights just before an optical migraine. If I see the flashing lights, and can get some meds in me fast enough, I can shorten the migraine time significantly. Open Original Shared Link
  18. Peanut butter normally should not bother you, unless you cannot have peanuts. If oils tend to bother you, then maybe that was it. My peanut butter was one of the things I never gave up--it has been a staple in my diet from the beginning. I have switched to Skippy Natural--the ingredients are: roasted peanuts, sugar, palm oil, and salt. It's the only...
  19. Someone I know, volunteered at Columbia University for one of these celiac studies, and he became very, very ill. My guess is--he didn't get the placebo!!! He has been ill now for months. I got very ill, just by being glutened by a medication I took 2 times this pass January. I was ill for 3 months. I think it's great that you volunteered...
  20. Doctors get funny ideas, and of course, think they are always right. Nope, we are all A+. My sister, dad, and I--all celiac, all A+.
  21. Hampton where? Are you on Long Island? Or somewhere else?
  22. I've been known to stomp my feet!!! My 25 yr old daughter just laughs at me and tells me to "get over it!" It wasn't over candy, and it was "kind of" in good humor! All my life, I have used one brand of toothpaste, and just that brand! Gleem, I only like Gleem. It's the only toothpaste that makes my teeth feel clean. It had gotten to the point where...
  23. Carmello's aren't gluten free anymore??? Good thing I gave up most candy!!! I guess you have to take a magnifing glass to the store with you and read the ingredients when buying candy now. Or, call the company. We were all shocked when the Cadbury Eggs, contained gluten this year. I was devastated! They were my favorite!!! It seems many companies...
  24. For me, sometimes, it's the scent that bothers me. He may be fine. Once you find out if the product is gluten free, then he may be fine with the product. Myself, I do not use many perfumes, I have Ginger Lotus made my Prince Matchabelli, that I love, I have Vanilla Fields by Coty, and Tabu, which really has become too strong for me to wear, even though...
  25. You need to get in touch directly with the company and ask them if the product contains gluten. Go online, find the 800# and call.
