ARCHIVED Epstein Barr Virus/adrenal Fatiguee
darlindeb25 replied to Joni63's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
A good friend of mine's daughter is suffering from this too. She had mono when she was 5. This last year, she was diagnosed with crohn's disease, when they finally got the crohn's under control, then her epstein barr decided to flare. From what her doctor said, this happened because of the stress on her body from the crohn's disease, which makes perfect... -

ARCHIVED Does Anyone Else Slur?
darlindeb25 replied to sickchick's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I do this all the time. It's been worse since I had my hysterectomy last summer. Weird thing is, when you talk to other people who have had surgery, they say the same thing has happened to them, especially women who have had hysterectomies! I work with a friend who had a hysterectomy about 2 1/2 months before me, and we often laugh this off, because we... -
ARCHIVED To Date A Celiac
darlindeb25 replied to darlindeb25's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
There must be some more thoughts out there--we have some great ones here, but there are so many of us in this forum, there must be more ideas! How about this one: Thou shall always keep receipts, even though I will always love every gift you get me, I may need to exchange the lotions you gave me for a gluten free one!!! I've had this happen... -
ARCHIVED Depression, Gluten, And Work: Connection?
darlindeb25 replied to Ashley's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
This is a decision that only you can make. The working conditions are not going to change, they can't stop making the waffle cones there. You are always going to have to smell them baking. I too, have a very difficult time with some odors, it's not that we get glutened by the odor, it's that we can't handle the odors themselves. Somewhat of an intolerance... -
ARCHIVED Completely Healed
darlindeb25 replied to holdthegluten's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
You may always have food sensitivities, that may never go away. When you stop eating the foods that are causing the problem, that's the reason why you do start to feel better, reintorducing them to your diet, will cause you to feel bad again, as a rule. Sometimes, you can eat some of those foods again, but not always. -
ARCHIVED How Clean Did/do You Make Your Kids Keep Their Room?
darlindeb25 replied to TrillumHunter's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I, too, am a neat freak, somewhat complusive even. I have 5 kids, all grown now, the oldest was 8 when the youngest was born. I used to wear myself out trying to keep the house spotless. Then it hit me--life is too short to sweat the small things. Their rooms were their "castles", their friends didn't care, some of their friends much prefered being at... -
ARCHIVED Gas Prices---geez
darlindeb25 replied to darlindeb25's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
The gas prices have not went down at all here. The average price here is $4.27, and as high as $4.49 a gallon--with no end in sight. I had a man tell me today, the prices will keep rising until after the election in Nov, then they will go down--I guess we will see! -
ARCHIVED My Wife Has Recently Been Diagnosed With Celiac ...help!
darlindeb25 replied to HarryB's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Are you absolutely sure she is gluten free? Is she on any medications? Many medications do contain gluten, and never ask the doctor if the med is gluten free, because he/she will not have a clue. Sometimes even the pharmacist doesn't know. You need to call the drug company directly. Could there be a cross contamination issue? I was getting cross contaminated... -

Confusion About Silent Celiac
darlindeb25 replied to mhb's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
There is so much confusion about silent and latent celiac. A silent celiac is someone who does have damage, but no other symptoms. The villi does show damage, yet the patient doesn't know they are sick, a silent celiac is usually diagnosed by accident. A latent celiac is the one who has no visible damage yet. Here is an article I found from medicinenet... -
ARCHIVED Scared Will I Recover 100%
darlindeb25 replied to wolfee's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I'm not sure how old you are Wolfee, but we all have to be realistic. Expecting 100% improvement is asking a lot. I was around 45 when I found out about celiac disease and I had been very sick for over 20 yrs, and who knows how long I had silent celiac before that. My sister was diagnosed with celiac disease then too, and she was vitamin deficient as a... -

ARCHIVED Gray Hairs At An Early Age?
darlindeb25 replied to Terbie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Actually, gray hair is not a celiac symptom at all--it may be a vitamin deficiency, who knows. Try googling....gray hair...and see what you find out. My sister in law was totally gray at 18, as was her mom, and neither are celiac. It just happens to some people. I have had gray hairs for years, I'm 52! I have been coloring my hair for a long time now... -
ARCHIVED Severe Itching After Taking Baths..
darlindeb25 replied to aeshlea's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Does this ever bring back memories!!!! My sister and I both had this, except on our legs, before going gluten free. We lived in rural Michigan, she still does. In rural areas, you have your own wells, if you dont have a water softener and condition your own water, this itching is even worse!!! 30 mins would have been a relief!!! After going gluten... -

ARCHIVED "silent" Celiac
darlindeb25 replied to psusharon's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
What you are discribing is not "silent" celiac. A silent celiac is someone who has no symptoms. They do not have anything going on, not to their knowledge. They go to the doctor, maybe for a physical for work, or something totally unrelated, and tests results come back, say blood work or something, proving celiac disease--totally out of the blue--that... -
ARCHIVED Rice Chex
darlindeb25 replied to FoxersArtist's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
You must watch for the new box. The new box says Gluten Free on the front. There are still some old boxes out there and yes, they do still contain gluten. The company has not dedicated a line completely to Rice Chex, just for gluten free. From what I understand, if the product goes over well, they may make more of their Chex cereals gluten free. Keep... -

ARCHIVED Update On My Little Granddaughter Zoey
darlindeb25 replied to Ursa Major's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I can relate. My daughter Holly was in 2 different body casts when she was 2 1/2 yrs old. It's hard, but you learn to deal with it. She was born with a missing hip joint and the doctors didn't know it until she was 29 months old. At that point, they thought she had a dislocated hip and put her in traction, trying to get her hip to go back where it belonged... -
ARCHIVED Gas Prices---geez
darlindeb25 replied to darlindeb25's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
According to that website--the average price this morning in my area, is $4.20 per gallon. I talked to my sister in Michigan--in St Johns, they are still paying $3.97. I haven't paid under $4 since I was there 2 weeks ago! -
ARCHIVED Need Breakfast Ideas -- Gfcfsf
darlindeb25 replied to Greeneyes4950's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I can't eat any grains, so my breakfast is very limited. I also do not eat eggs, no nightshades, and no red meats. For breakfast, I alternate between an apple sliced up with peanut butter (very good source of protein) and cheese on one day, another day I have cottage cheese (which is another good source of protein) with fruit stirred in, then another...
