  1. It would... I reduced the recipe to a third because I can't have too much of anything, then I turned what I got in cupcakes. Thrice the recipe, you'll have enough dough for an entire cake (in whatever shape you like).
  2. I had problems with baking powder lately so I found a recipe of a gluten-y cake without the damned ingredient. I adapted the recipe a little and that's what I came up with: Ingredients: 2 eggs (eggwhites and yolks separate) 3/4 cup of brown sugar 4 tablespoons of lemon juice (for people who can't have Citrus, you could just use water or other...
  3. That's what I'm doing basically... I snack every couple of hours or so right now. Hmm... Carrots
  4. I used to eat cashews, then I reacted to them as well (it wasn't CC, I tend to react to things when I eat them a lot and too frequently, learned the lesson ) so I'm thinking of introducing some brazilian nuts and almonds now. Will try to make a recipe of honey and lemon cupcakes without baking powder and with whole foods only to see if I get along...
  5. Oh, I have a few recipes of desserts and cakes with whole foods only so I might as well post a few that worked for you to see them here... Not many ingredients and easy to make. Well, the advice is to keep with whole foods for the most part, although it might be hard at first. I can't purchase processed gluten free substitutes due to where I live, but...
  6. You should ask your doctor about the possibility. Maybe schedule an endocospy and see what you'll get. Don't go gluten free before because you will have to be on gluten for the tests to work, and it will be worst if it's indeed some sort of gluten sensitivity... Furthermore, if the tests come back negative and you still think it could be something to do...
  7. Whole foods. Man, they are cheap. Not to mention, you could cook and freeze your meals beforehand if you don't have much time to cook...
  8. I actually end on 1000 cals by chance. I eat normally and use a calorie counter app on my phone as a food log, and I put the exact quantities and everything. It always end up 1000 or less, and usually I have only three or four major meals... Today was an exception because I thought my tummy would be upset. It is not, gladly I am definitely concerned...
  9. Just a tiny TMI alert... Today has been a weird day. Apparently, I was glutened by my tapioca (maybe it was the strainer I used, my sister cooked the not so gluten free rice pasta and used it) so yesterday I felt discomfort and unusual bloating. Today, a minor part of my stools was loose, had a foul smell and there were bits of food (ew ). And I feel...
  10. Well, I live with four other people, and truth be told, I am a good cook. So I am just very direct about this issue: I point they can eat any food they want, while I just can eat what I cook myself, so it's not really fair that my food has to be shared with everyone, if I can't eat anything else. Of course that he being your husband, you might not want to...
  11. Trying to keep out of processed foods, so brown rice, cooked chicken and some steamed veggies (carrots and potatoes). Will try to make rice cakes tomorrow with the leftover...
  12. Like Dave, I think you didn't pinpoint what's causing it yet... Is very common for people to have troubles with other foods and gluten. The first suggestion is dairy, of course, but then, if the problem doesn't go away, maybe you should keep a food log and also note down when you bloat. Good luck
  13. Since I was starving, I made grilled chicken breast with saute
  14. It depends on the person, really... For example, yesterday I was told by my father I had a leaky gut since I was a child. Right now, I can't have cashews, coffee, soy protein (I just lost my favorite chocolate :/), dairy, peanuts (yeah, the peanut butter wasn't cross contaminated) and last but not least, gluten. Just random foods I used to eat. ...
  15. Veggies and chicken broth. Gluten got me again :/
  16. What Sa said. Eating whole foods like fruits and veggies I can find at a regular supermarket saved my family a whole lot of money. Of course I needed to adapt my taste a bit to accept a wider range of veggies... But overall, I ended up spending less on food.
  17. My way is kind of unsafe to do. Since I am fairly tolerant to gluten (and I have been improving recently, 6 slices of gluteny cake and my stomach only yawned for half of a day), I just eat things without much control. Sometimes I feel something is not right soon, sometimes I will only realize when I am full-blown glutened and the damage is done. I don...
  18. Northeast. Ceará, to be more precise. I never saw cream of tartar in pharmacies, but I'll check. I am really lucky to live here, indeed. It has been so easy to swap to a whole foods diet, especially with my household (mother with migraines caused by fatty and/or processed foods, dad with history of high blood pressure and high sugar blood, low salt ...
  19. Ok, I have vinegar. I made an experiment with baking soda and lemon juice once, it was awesome Maybe I could use lemon juice too...? Anyhow, I am not sure if I can import. I would cut a metaphorical limb to buy the Cherry Pie Larabar, but unfortunately, no site will ship to my town... Or to Brazil at all for that matter.
  20. The laws on gluten free products around where I live (the tropical land called Brazil) are kind of non-existent. As in they do exist but no one cares: I found a brand of rice pasta recently, which is advertised in the site of the Celiacs Association of my country, and there's 77,5 ppm of gluten in there, instead of 20 ppm given by the law A doctor made...
  21. Usually I just put salt, lemon juice and olive oil. But for that salad, I sautéed a chopped onion (a quarter ot it, actually) with oregano and olive oil. Then I put salt, and more olive oil.
  22. Since I am learning to do my own food, I have decided to do some beefs for dinner. As in myself alone in the kitchen. So my dinner was beef and a salad. And it was good. Success!
  23. I'll have a friend coming over my house soon because I can't eat out, I'd rather watch a movie at home -- long story short, he accepted the proposal of me cooking for him. He didn't like the part of him washing the dishes since I'm cooking but... Really, just explain your situation. I don't see how the situation is alienating, and I'm pretty sure a...
  24. I just feel more like a newbie posting here, but here it goes. I had a baked potato with scrambled eggs, guava juice and for dessert a bar of soy chocolate.
  25. I second this. I still can have corn, soy and nightshades. They are in fact in my safe foods list, and I've seen some people intolerant to them here... If I were to eliminate them because other people reacted, I would be damned. Of course I can become intolerant to them later, but not now, so let's enjoy
