  1. I've never seen it in the UK, but maybe he can pass a regulation to get it imported
  2. Hi I have thought for years that I probably have seasonal affective disorder during the winter, as my moods tend to drop badly from about January to March. When I had my blood testing done in May my vitamin D was a little low, in the range that my doctor should have told me and given me advice on sunlight etc. I spend a minimum of 2 hours outside...
  3. I don't know if you have come across coeliac uk yet. They do a handbook each year of gluten-free foods which is very useful. It covers a very wide range of foods not just specialist ones.
  4. But then we borrowed your guy to come and run the bank of England. Maybe we need a holiday for that?
  5. UK is 20ppm, not sure elsewhere in Europe. I think the 200 is an outdated figure for UK at least. I have read that some people find the 20ppm too much. Manufacturers can also use codex starch I think which is a wheat derivative, supposedly safe but again not good for some. I guess at least we can be grateful for lableing. I'd like to see the actual...
  6. The genetic testing doesn't require eating gluten. Around 30 per cent of the population have the genes, but it might help later on with making accomodations later, along with response to gluten-free diet. Maybe write down now some very specific details of symptoms before and after to refer to later. With family and others, they wouldn't say you were...
  7. I have actually fallen on the floor laughing. King ptaum, surely this must deserve an honorary title a least? :) :) :) I am glad I didn't request some of the things that went through my head
  8. I am about to feed the kids sausages and potato waffles then we are off to sons nativity. I love that stuff Had a great time at the movies and enjoyed Bond
  9. You guys are outrageous If we are doing requests, how about a turkey doing backflips??
  10. Frustrating? Yes for sure It might be worth writing symptoms down. Great if you can do it alongside a food diary, but also useful on its own. 3 months in I am starting to recognize my glutening symptoms. My worst one I swelled up like I was 7 months pregnant and had raging gut pain. Most since then are more subtle. So first I am dog...
  11. Sounds a bit bats for a dietitian to recommend adding processed foods if you are already on whole foods. Maybe you could speak to them and ask the logic, or if they think you are missing something in your diet. The only other thing I can think is that some people in the UK (where I am too) think that celiacs will be more compliant and stick to gluten...
  12. Your doctor is wrong. It can be hard to diagnose in little ones but it certainly exists. I hope someone can get you some good research to show your doctor. That said, I am not sure you will want to put him back on gluten for testing via blood and endoscopy. Follow your gut, you have seen the difference.
  13. Glad you made a decision. Good too your GI agreed making yourself so sick wasn't worth it. Hopefully your genetic testing plus response to gluten and diet might get you a diagnosis. If not at least you know the way to go - gluten-free
  14. I'm an I'm a celeb girl, love it. Glad it ended when it did though, as I am now mad busy catching up on all the Christmas stuff I should have been doing... I finally gave up Neighbors this year. Might go back in January when it all gets a bit grim on telly though
  15. Glad you got some clarity bet it is a relief to let it go. Reckon you are going to have a much more relaxed Christmas
  16. I would seriously consider staying on gluten until test results come back and you see if biopsy is necessary. It can be a whole lot harder to restart gluten once off a while. Unless your doctor is one of the enlightened ones who will diagnose on blood alone. Even then you might find you need more info from a biopsy, and it may be misleading if you have been...
  17. I have done low carb and I think you could do the 2 slices of bread or equivalent ok. At worst it might very slightly slow weight loss. If you are trying for a baby it would be very good to have your testing done. There can be some issues around fertility and pregnancy with undiagnosed celiac, but the prognosis with diagnosis and gluten-free diet is very...
  18. It is good to hear how people get on, whether it is celiac or not. Great that you got to the bottom of it, sounds like some determined doctors there. Thanks for the post, good luck
  19. I'd say I have been through some angry depressed sad frustrated times in the last few months too. A bit of venting sounds pretty normal. As long as it is not aimed at you, and you are not in fear. I threw some stuff too when I had the house to myself (non breakable though, didn't have the energy to clear up). I'm not sure if I am reading it right...
  20. Mr Mindwarp made venison stew. No idea what is in it but I can't wait. Early tea then of to see the Bond movie, 1st night out without kids since about September
  21. My cat has a new lease of life on gluten-free food too
  22. It can be hard at first as your body adjusts to the new diet and you adjust to a different way of living. I'd agree on keeping food simple. Maybe the sort of comfort food you might have when sick like chicken broth or soup, mashed potatoes, rice noodles. If what you usually have has gluten, ask on the board and someone will suggest an alternative. ...
  23. Sounds like a good doctor to me. I guess they sometimes have to cover their own backs but it is very good you will get your diagnosis in the end. There may be other useful info from the endoscopy. I found a small hiatus hernia which explains some of the reflux and was very relieved to find no other nasties going on. Good luck with your Dad. My Mum is about...
  24. Hang in there shadow, just a few days to go
