Celiac Mindwarp replied to Persei V.'s topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I like sweet potato cold. I just do it in the microwave, let it cool then peel it and put in in fork sized chunks. Goes great with chicken too. Have a good trip -

ARCHIVED Repercussions Of Cheating! :(
Celiac Mindwarp replied to a84c72's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
OP I hope you can see people want to help. We were scared for you. It is great you have decided never to eat gluten again. I lost my job and am now to sick to work. Our income is a third what it used to be. I had to move house because of it to a new cheaper town. I have picked up loads of tips on money saving here. I hope you can stay on the board... -
ARCHIVED Repercussions Of Cheating! :(
Celiac Mindwarp replied to a84c72's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'm sorry this hit you so hard. Reading your posts it really seemed you weren't getting it. I think we (I) wanted you to have the chance of stopping short of some of the rubbish we went through. We have been where you are too. I am SO glad you really really get it now. I hope you find you can stick around. I have been at it about as long as you.... -

ARCHIVED Repercussions Of Cheating! :(
Celiac Mindwarp replied to a84c72's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Funny, I was going to say something similar after looking back over your posts. You seem to be finding it tremendously hard to accept your diagnosis, or the good advice here. Is it possible you need some one to one support to get your head round the changes you need to make? Maybe the diagnosis has brought up some other stuff you need help with. I... -
ARCHIVED Celiac Testing On Italian Children
Celiac Mindwarp replied to ButterflyChaser's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
In the UK diagnosed celiacs get a certain amount of gluten-free food on prescription. Though some areas are cutting it down or out. Austerity and all that. I am really interested in the position in Italy with regard to testing children, not least because I have just had a letter. From my GI to advise that my children should not be tested unless they show... -
ARCHIVED Wish Us Luck (Nothing Too Serious)
Celiac Mindwarp replied to AGH2010's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
We do this for my son who is nut rather than gluten-free (so far, another story) and we just make sure it is something he thinks of as a treat (frosting, candy pieces etc). Been doing it a couple of years and always been fine, with an occasional sad look. I also take a few chocolate and candy treats in my purse to swap if there are prizes etc. My... -

ARCHIVED Discrimination Against Celiacs?
Celiac Mindwarp replied to alucard4545's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have no idea if she can fulfil her contract. I guess maybe I think it is good for people to back her up but not good when people attack her without knowing the facts. I hate to see people attacked, especially if they have a cr**y disease which is different for all of us. -
ARCHIVED Repercussions Of Cheating! :(

ARCHIVED Discrimination Against Celiacs?
Celiac Mindwarp replied to alucard4545's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Whatever the details, the problem I see is people judging what another celiac can or can't do with their own particular health issues. The details with CBS and Jennifer are between them, unless they choose to share. How would you feel if the world was wading about in your business while you were in a bad phase of this 'difficult' (understatement) disease... -
ARCHIVED Discrimination Against Celiacs?
Celiac Mindwarp replied to alucard4545's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Me too. When I read some of the stories here I am so grateful for my own improving health and that I caught it when I did. I am a full time Mum now, but I am terrified at the prospect of working again. I could probably do 20 hours most weeks, but not on regular hours. The thought that if I was in the public eye my fellow celiacs would attack me is dreadful... -
