ARCHIVED Anxiety And Depression
guest134 replied to guest134's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Interesting raven, as you know I am in the middle of a possible celiac diagnosis but after going through the list of symptoms I only have anxiety, depression and some insomnia, my entire vitamin panel is very high so it can't be related to that. I am going to be shocked if I do in fact have the disease after biopsy and those symptoms go away with gluten... -
ARCHIVED Biopsy Inconclusive
guest134 replied to shelly40's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Well you are falling into the place where celiac isn't always a slam dunk, unfortunately this happens often, I am going through the same thing myself. You have the genes, and the genes have been triggered in other family members, the weak positive TTG does not mean much as of right now, the University of Chicago states it can be a low positive in family...- 11 replies

ARCHIVED New Here With Test Results
guest134 replied to lizcon's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yes the TTG can be falsely positive in Hashimoto's. Before some member asks "What does a false positive really mean?" or "There are no false positives" A false positive means that in clinical evaluation members of a certain population sample with an elevated TTG did not actually have celiac upon further testing and never went on to develop it during clinical... -

Well actually - "Does this apply to you? It is important to note that some people with Type 1 Diabetes, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis and autoimmune liver conditions can have a falsely positive tissue transglutaminase test." ARCHIVED Doc Wants Blood Test After Accidentally Glutened
guest134 replied to Boys mom's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I agree with Karen, think about how it is important to be eating gluten a few times daily for at least a month or two to avoid false negatives on blood tests, eating gluten accidentally once will certainly not cause any elevation. -
ARCHIVED Odd Pains
guest134 replied to designerstubble's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Well the site you read that from is completely wrong, if you are going to do internet research you have to at least know how to differentiate between credible and non-credible sources. The gluten free market has become huge and there are a lot of shady characters taking advantage of that fact, they make money off scaring you like that, it keeps you coming... -
ARCHIVED Anxiety And Depression
guest134 replied to guest134's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Interesting... I am wondering if depression and anxiety are a direct result of the disease itself or that they just stem from 1- pre diagnosis you are anxious and depressed over not knowing what is causing all of your symptoms and 2- Once diagnosed the feelings of having to deal with a chronic disease. From what I have read there has been no proven direct... -
ARCHIVED Anxiety And Depression

I was wondering how many of you experienced either or both and had the symptoms resolve once you went gluten free. -
ARCHIVED Blood Test
guest134 replied to tanvee's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I have never heard of such a thing but would be willing to bet that any over the counter test would be highly unreliable. Can you link us to the exact product? -
ARCHIVED Odd Pains
guest134 replied to designerstubble's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Once again I will stress not to freak out about lymphoma, I am not a doctor, just another internet hypochondriac, the fact that your lymph nodes are painful is a good sign though as cancerous nodes are painless. Diagnosis isn't easy, here is a site Open Original Shared Link I have no idea where you gathered morbidity rates for celiac in the first 4 years... -
ARCHIVED Odd Pains
guest134 replied to designerstubble's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It is definitely worth a shot to get the celiac panel. I am only saying this to be absolutely sure and it is VERY unlikely but based on some of those symptoms I would ask the doctor about possible lymphoma, once again extremely unlikely but should be part of the rule out process just to be safe. How long ago did your symptoms start? Did they happen suddenly... -
ARCHIVED Odd Pains
guest134 replied to designerstubble's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Can you be more specific? Is it a general body ache or arthritis like pains? Where in your stomach is the pain? How would you describe the pain, and how often does the pain occur? Any accompanying diarrhea or signs of malnutrition? I have never heard of night sweats being a problem of celiacs, it is not even listed in the University of Chicago's list of ... -

ARCHIVED Impatient
guest134 replied to AmberRS's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You should never feel bad for putting your health as priority. As Lisa said please post up your test results, some are highly unreliable where as others are going to be much more specific in your clinical setting. Also a list of symptoms and what led you to believe celiac, any other medical conditions? -
ARCHIVED Could Celiac Disease And Eosiniphilic Esophagitis Be Connected?
guest134 replied to Daisychamp's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
If you were strictly gluten free for 3 months than your tests would definitely come up negative (not false negative, but negative, which means you are doing a great job of avoiding the food and your body is healing!). There are several others on this forum that have multiple autoimmune disorders thanks to their issues being ignored by doctors for years or...- 7 replies

ARCHIVED Does This Sound Like Celiac?
guest134 replied to tchntm43's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I am not dismissing this persons symptoms, I told him to get tested but based on his results it could be other things and to not get so caught up on one disease like I have seen many people do, several different tests are required. I never said it is not linked to other autoimmune diseases, I said that unless it is causing another one half of those symptoms... -
ARCHIVED Gluten-Free 4 Yrs, Contradictory Test Results
guest134 replied to rehh05's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I was looking at the whole picture and not every word that came out of his mouth. My only direction is that you can have more than one issue going on at the same time and at least this doctor is taking his time to look into everything. Unfortunately not everything that comes out of a doctors mouth is always accurate, but this one seems to at least be trying... -
ARCHIVED Four Year Old's Blood Test "slightly Abnormal" For Celiac

Well, one of the many reasons this approach is taken: Open Original Shared Link https://www.celiac.com/articles/22057/1/Improving-Serological-Mass-Screening-in-Childhood-Celiac-Disease/Page1.html It can be considered a transient phenomenon in children so it is important to make sure it is for sure celiacs before putting someone on a life long gluten... -
ARCHIVED Need Assistance With Testing
guest134 replied to dasuriano's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
What? How old are you? A residual problem from a childhood bacterial infection? That makes NO sense, residual symptoms from even the worst infections should last no longer than a year. What was the infection and how long ago was it? -
ARCHIVED Does This Sound Like Celiac?
guest134 replied to tchntm43's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It's funny, I have seen many people reference this list of symptoms but have never read it over. Upon quick review it seems like an alarmist list, like come on they are adding things like crohn's and ulcerative colitis? Not only that, they have pretty much every disease in the book listed from autoimmune to cancers. Obviously celiacs can cause other symptoms... -
ARCHIVED Gluten-Free 4 Yrs, Contradictory Test Results
guest134 replied to rehh05's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Going against what others are saying I think you have a good GI, he is not jumping to the conclusion of celiacs until all else is ruled out and getting you properly diagnosed and treated with a nutritionist shows that he cares. Be happy you have someone who is very thorough and is not just handing you a celiac pamphlet and saying get the hell out. At least... -
ARCHIVED Does This Sound Like Celiac?

How is your height compared to family members? Is your entire family on the shorter end of the scale or just you? I must say if fatigue is your main culprit with eating heavy pastas and such I would think of a blood sugar issue (not necessarily diabetes) before celiacs. To me, these are your gluten alert symptoms: Your height weight Excess gas Those... -

ARCHIVED Igg Versions..let Me Know If I'm Missing Something

ARCHIVED Waking Up With Dry, Sticky Lips
guest134 replied to adambryant's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Get a humidifier in your room, winter nights leave me waking up with dry lips, lots of mucus to clear and some dry hands. None of those have to do with celiac (well the dry hands could be but not in my case). As for the frequent urination I would be willing to bet anxiety is your trigger. You seem to be going through some issues lately and are anxious...
