  1. because of my hatred for most things protein, i have decided to invest in protein powder before i start harming my body. i am more than likely going to make this investment in plain flavoured 'vega'. the thing is, i hate liquid drinks other than coffee and water. what, other than smoothies, can i throw protein powder in? can i put it in sauces and stuff...
  2. i have always had success wuth my recipe. i love it - it is on my site, below.
  3. i don't know if this was mentioned earlier, but what about pasta?
  4. blood in stools and pain could simply mean hemmorhoids.
  5. in addition to rinne's response (eating a basic diet), i've found that the few things that i do need to read labels on, i stick to. for example, i eat a whole foods vegetarian diet, and i know which shampoo, make up, soymilk and baking suplpies that i use without a problem. it saves me from always checking new things out. good luck! welcome to the...
  6. let us know how you like it!
  7. it sounds like fatty stools, associated with celiac... and the blood? DEFINITELY go see the doctor.
  8. LA, that sounds awesome! By the way, I LOVE Brooklin... What a great area! (Sorry to throw that in). Since you are in Canada, I used Webber Vitamin E (I got it at Shoppers)
  9. I'm also a mid-twenty something, and trust me (and all of us!) it's not a horrible disease because finally you'll start feeling good! Welcome to the board.
  10. Hey LA, I posted a similar question back in April when I got my tattoo (what are you getting, if you don't mind me asking??) Anyway, the balm they recommended had wheat in it, so I didn't get it (I'm notorious for putting my hands constantly in my mouth because I am always baking or eating... haha, so I never, ever use creams and what not.) Anyway, I used...
  11. Hi Andrea, I was very sensitive to rice, and now can tolerate small amounts of rice flour and rice vinegar. I'm not six, but, learned to adapt without it. For awhile it was frustrating, especially when I was sit and wanted something mushy I would perhaps not feed it to her for a bit and see if there is improvement. I found out about it because...
  12. i second the casein sensitivity. i am also casein sensitive, and when i cut it out, it helped so much. however, i would also like to suggest that if you are sick of being sick, then perhaps not eating out or buying pre-made products would help. i kept getting contaminated left and right, and finally, once i stopped taking risks, felt better, and realized...
  13. I don't eat all of the things you wrote out, but I will post from the ones I eat. *Best Cereal = Nature's Path Fruit Juice Sweetened Cornflakes, or hot quinoa *Best Muffins = my basic homemade recipe that can be adapted to anything *Best Chocolate = i use Chetfield's carob powder in baking *Best Candy = Let's Do Organic Vegan Gummies *Best Gum = Trident...
  14. this might not exactly answer your question, but when i do bread in the bread machine, i always do all the ingredients before i put them in the machine, instead of following the machine's directions.
  15. i follow a closely related vegan diet (the only non-vegan food i use it honey, and sometimes egg whites in baking and actually find it easier that anything else with eating. because i eat a whole foods diet, i never worry about cross contamination. regarding eating out, i cannot answer your question as every time i have, i have gotten cross contaminated...
  16. for protein, try quinoa, eggs/egg whites, yogurt, smoothies, tofu, and meats. for fibre, fruit, veggies, seeds like flax, and higher fibre flours/grains like soy.

  18. i know some people have a problem with bob's red mill stuff, but i never have and i am very sensitive. i use that flax.
  19. this has been discussed before, but just so you know, when i started taking it, my liver enzymes shot from nearly normal up to 800 and i was hospitalized. when i went off it, they immediately went down (not to normal, but to about 150). there was definitely a correlation. (below 40 is normal).
  20. Hi there, I think I understand what you mean. before I was gluten free, I felt sort of just 'bad' all the time... But I thought it was normal. When I went gluten-free, I noticed a large change. Now when I accidently consume it, it is VERY noticable. Hope that (slightly) helps. And welcome!
  21. lister- flax seeds are available in a variety of ways, but unless you have a grinder, make sure you get flax meal. or ground flax seeds. bob's red mill makes the one that i peraonlly buy. what about nature's path mesa sunrise? since you like gorilla munch (same company), perhaps you can mix the two for a healthier fix... i do that but with panda puffs. eggs...
  22. lister, why not focus on whole foods for awhile (IE not more than the ingredient being itself). instead of noodles, and stuff like that. you NEED nutrients! hardboiling eggs is easy. do you have a pot and a burner? that's all you need... pop the eggs in and boil for about 9 minutes. you can also do a lot of things with tofu. lentils are a legume...
  23. okay, breakfast, nix the chips. add some more vegetables. instead of the cookie, why not have some nut butter on the apple? or applesauce with some flax mixed in? instead of the rice cake (no nutritional value), how about a hard boiled egg? for your sandwich, you eat chicken... or tuna? you can add that.
  24. lister - why don't you buy nuts in the shell? they will for sure be gluten-free, in that case. do you want some daily menu ideas? perhaps that will help you... you can organize yourself that way, and then if you're in a rush, you'll already be ready.
  25. right, but i'm just saying that i had to eat completely clean. i ate about seven things for about six months. instead of the enjoy life bar, the corn tortillas, the rice chips, the billion cigarettes, the other chips... what about some food from food groups?
