ARCHIVED Silly Question 3 (Ra)
designerstubble replied to designerstubble's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Thanks Lisa I didn't realise your problems were with RA, I thought they were more 'celiac' symptom related. What a nightmare, I truly sympathise. I've been looking up lectins etc after this post of yours... I hope I don't have to cut them out as they probably make up 50 percent of my virtually non existent diet at the moment. I will see how I go I guess... -
ARCHIVED Silly Question 3 (Ra)
designerstubble replied to designerstubble's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Thanks nvsmom I see you had yours before your diagnosis? I also had a week of bad fatigue on the first week of it though I have no idea if its related... It did seem to come from nowhere. I am so surprised at what has happened to me since I went gluten free, although I feel 'better' (prob because I am treating the anaemia)... I have so many more problems... -

ARCHIVED Silly Question 3 (Ra)
designerstubble replied to designerstubble's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Yes thanks shadow, I have got carpel on one wrist... I didn't know it affected further up too? Funnily enough I have been doing a lot of cooking lately (lots of peeling veg!) I did just put it down to that at first... But it surely can't last that long if it was just a bit of tendon strain. I just had a hot bath and wonder as it seems to have eased off... -

What does rheumatoid arthritis feel like? I can't ignore my arms anymore. I have had sore arms for about 5 weeks, mainly from the elbow down. It started in one arm, then seemed to swap to the other... Now it's in both (though worse in one)... It makes lifting things hard. It's worse in the morning and I get pins and needles in my arms through the night...

ARCHIVED Help?! For Post-Diagnosis: Mayo Vs Columbia Vs Chicago, Etc. - How Do You Choose Which Specialist To Visit?
designerstubble replied to em80's topic in Doctors
Thanks bubbasmom, that was really useful info. I will look for a probio containing that. I don't think mine does. I will start my food diary again. I stopped it a few weeks ago as I was kinda told not to bother (ie. I was being premature keeping one) but with hindsight it did help. In 4 months it helped me figure out some of my allergies and intolerances...- 32 replies

ARCHIVED Living Normally While Battling Celiac Is Like:
designerstubble replied to 1desperateladysaved's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks Cavernio... To be honest, although I very much prefer to not eat any flesh, I would consider eating anything to make me better. The worry I have is that I have SO many NEW allergies and intolerances since being gluten free that I am petrified of introducing a new food at this stage. I don't know at this stage if my allergies are real allergies (Ige... -

ARCHIVED Help?! For Post-Diagnosis: Mayo Vs Columbia Vs Chicago, Etc. - How Do You Choose Which Specialist To Visit?
designerstubble replied to em80's topic in Doctors
I have not eaten out once yet. In 5 months. I'm far too scared. The UK are too behind the times with celiac for me to trust. I don't even trust celiac UK website much for their info... Very basic. Interesting about the bed sheets. And laundry... Might give that a go... I am becoming hateful of chemicals these days and anything 'manufactured'! Hmmmm you...- 32 replies

ARCHIVED Help?! For Post-Diagnosis: Mayo Vs Columbia Vs Chicago, Etc. - How Do You Choose Which Specialist To Visit?
designerstubble replied to em80's topic in Doctors
Thanks. What constitutes a high quality probio? I am taking one but have no idea if its good or not?! Also what kind of food repopulates good bacteria? I once heard that green juices are good start? Though cant find any info on that! Will look into the digestive enzymes too. I have no idea if I need any of this! All I know is that my 'movements' are still...- 32 replies

Thank you that is so interesting to know. I feel so silly on here sometimes, I feel I ought to know all this stuff. I think I must obviously be in the severe villi flattening category then as I have become intolerant to virtually everything since becoming gluten free 4 months ago. My biopsy (it was done even though I had been gluten free for 2months already...- 32 replies

ARCHIVED Silly Question 2
designerstubble replied to designerstubble's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yes I get a howling noise too sometimes! And wind too! I just always assume to some extent this is normal? It's so difficult trying to work it all out! Sorry you got glutened btw. And I know what you mean about attributing everyone's ailments to celiac... I have had to stop myself with friends and family... I guess being only 5 months into it I am on... -
ARCHIVED Silly Question 2

I also hope you don't need to take anymore antibiotics, they're awful. I know they are necessary sometimes but I hate them. Interesting about your levels going up?? I am currently listening to my guts all the time, they defo rumble about 20 minutes after eating most times... I'll keep an eye on it... And hope that I don't have SIBO. Hope all ok for... -

Thanks bubba! This is very interesting. I feel so naive not knowing all of this. Everything I'd read up to now said that dairy didn't cause damage. So... All of these extra things that cause villous atrophy,.... Do they also cause other symptoms too or can they also be latent or silent line celiac?- 32 replies

Well I learnt something new today. Diary can cause villi atrophy???? Shock horror! Why does everything I've read say that dairy doesn't damage?! And soy can cause atrophy too? I thought it was just an irritant? Anyone got any links to read? Very interested to know more!- 32 replies

ARCHIVED Silly Question 2
designerstubble replied to designerstubble's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Oh no, sorry to hear that. Does being glutened mean the SIBO comes back again? That's awful. I don't know much about SIBO, read up a little on what & why but didn't realise that a symptom was gurgling. Did you get the gurgling all the time after eating? I have been on probiotics on and off for a 3-4 months... My docs are pretty useless here in UK, I'm... -
ARCHIVED Silly Question 2

ARCHIVED Silly Question 2
designerstubble replied to designerstubble's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yep me too. I think I must have been in reverse gear?!! I also assumed that I was worn out with motherhood and night vigils by my sons bed when he was asthmatic etc. I also assumed that as my husbands guts made dreadful noises, mine were normal!! It wasn't until I was in utter despair and losing tons of weight very quickly that I thought that something... -
ARCHIVED Silly Question 2
designerstubble replied to designerstubble's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Actually I know what you mean! I have noticed that also! It annoys me because the noises come from my upper right gi (prob duodenum)... So I assume that it's having a hard time with something. My corn intolerances grew from these kinds of noises. As much as I don't want to be paranoid (I don't want food ruling my life!) it's hard to ignore. Guess I'll wait... -
ARCHIVED Silly Question 2
designerstubble replied to designerstubble's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks, lots of valid points I hadn't thought of which are quite possible. I guess because my corn intolerance started out as a grumbling gut I am paranoid! I might add though, the noises are coming from my duodenum and beginnings of smaller bowel. It's high up on the right side virtually all the time. It does make me feel uncomfortable. (But.. I honestly... -
ARCHIVED Silly Question 2
designerstubble replied to designerstubble's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yes! I was very noisy too! And to be honest half the time now things are quiet! But then out of nowhere comes the bubbling... It's horrible! It's so so noisy too? I'm eating a process free diet so annoys me to think that my body might be complaining about my healthy restricted diet now too!! Thanks for answering Kimmy -
Stomach noises. Ok, I know we are all different etc BUT As I am eating many of the same foods day in and day out due to restricted diet...I wonder why one day my GI tract is noiseless and then next day or day after my stomach makes terrible noises having eaten the same food? The kind if noises you get when something hasn't gone down right. I feel...

designerstubble replied to 1desperateladysaved's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'm with you there... I'm only 5 months in. It wasn't normal for me either and I'm still struggling. But I think by definition the word 'normal' just means commonplace, usual, everyday. So until we get used to this way of life, we will feel alien to it. My gorgeous little boy has learnt to wash his hands after something gluteny and even says to me now, 'mum...
