  1. Hehehe that sounds a lot like me. I'm still falling off all the time. Haven't even gone far enough to bump into obstacles I reckon let alone a nice smooth ride. Looking forward to that one... nice lovely smooth ride and a sunny day. Awesome.
  2. Thanks I've been wanting to ask that question for ages! It's what I thought tbh... Especially after getting sick from blowing up a balloon (corn starch) So many questions... Thank you
  3. Erm... (Sorry for such a silly question but i am full of them!) In my new found paranoia of late, I refuse to kiss my husband if he is drinking beer... Am I right in thinking I could be glutened from this? Thanks
  4. Hmmmm. I guess it's all down to perception when we read other people's experiences on here? I think it's hard to post sometimes. I think things get lost in translation often, it's so much easier to see someone's face when chatting! We'd all be great if we were having 'coffee' morning at someone's house! As for battling celiac, I currently have so many issues...
  5. Bartful, I have also cried. So so sad. I'm so so sorry. I didn't mean to drag they all up. Your poor father. Thank you for sharing that, that must have been difficult. Asthma is such a debilitating condition, did he use his epipen for asthma attacks? Or for allergic reactions that triggered anaphylaxis? Terrible. I will try to get that epipen. I asked...
  6. Omg, this thread is a relief. I have been suffering from skin reactions (to creams and cosmetic stuff that I have used for years), I get bad asthma reactions from various food including all citrus and tomato. And some teas contains spices. I get hives from other food like celery and eggs and I now bad eczema on my eyes from pumpkin seeds... All new. Been...
  7. My allergies have increased. From having a few minors to asthmatic allergies to all citrus and tomatoes. Asthma from spices, hives from eggs and other spices, hives from celery, swollen throat from ginger. All these are new. It's quite upsetting especially as I'm recently corn intolerant
  8. Oh bartful, poor you... Was your dad celiac too? Did he have anaphylaxis? Why did his epipens not work?? thats terrible. My doc won't give me an epipen as I have not had an anaphylactic reaction... I only get asthma reactions to food and hives (and eczema)... My son has a junior epipen. What happened to your poor dad? (Don't worry if you're not up for...
  9. Thanks Dave for your help. I'm off the dreaded corn now, for sure. More reactions to flour again (I just couldn't quite believe that I was reacting to it?)... I wish you sincerely the best recovery, and hope that you are scoffing lots of fried potatoes (I had some myself last night after I read your post I kept dreaming of them)... Thanks for all your...
  10. Thanks bartful You've been a help truly. I think you may be right about introducing some flesh (ugh)... Fish I think... Tho it worries me as I am reacting with hives and asthma to everything. I worry that introducing it now might initiate a reaction. I cooked my husband and son some chicken the other night carefully ( super careful, wore gloves, stood...
  11. Dave, how on earth have you survived??? Seriously? I am eating fruit and veg (everything apart from any citrus, tomatoes) I am sooo struggling. I can't find enough protein I'm desperate for cheese again, but like you do not have the nerve. I've also just lost my pumpkin seeds (the only seeds, can't have nuts)... As I have flared up with ezcema again... Around...
  12. Oh my god you must have been petrified of taking those antibiotics?? How awful. What a story, thank you for sharing it. How relieved you must have been when you didn't react?? It must have been like Christmas!!! When you ate the corn bread did you experiment afterwards with different kinds of corn or just cut it out completely? What's the difference between...
  13. Bartfull! I am SO disgusted with my state of affairs... As much as I wouldn't wish this on anyone... It is nice to know (reassuring) that other people understand. My friends and family think I'm a freak. Should I cut corn out completely (ie should I try something once to see if it bothers me)... I was going to try some fresh corn yesterday in case I was ok...
  14. Thanks Dave... It's so depressing... How long have you been corn free? Have you ever tried re introducing? And if it didn't work did you continue to have the same response? Are you ok with rice? Have you removed it from your household entirely? !!! Sorry!!! So many questions! Ugh! I really don't eant to remove corn from the household... My son is on a restricted...
  15. Hi there I'm 5 months gluten free (just), I have had SO many allergies and intolerances since I began gluten free. Dairy was the first, soy next, then eggs, citrus fruit (caused terrible asthma and bad ezcema), quinoa (asthma again), and now corn (which is really upsetting me as corn is everywhere)... Recently had a few reactions to corn, just like eating...
  16. Just found this thread, been looking for some inspiration! It's a great topic (for me!), as I am SO struggling with just eating fruit & veg. It's so good to hear that some of you are actually getting a few foods back. I'd be happy with dairy, eggs, and corn. Life would be soooo much simpler. And happier.
  17. Ncdave, thanks. The more I look into it the more its just a night mare? Why is the corn affecting me like gluten I'm so cross with my body. Is there corn starch in balloons then?? Maybe it was that then?? I just can't believe that I would be so severely affected? I literally had the thing in my mouth for 5 seconds before realising and quickly washing my mouth...
  18. I started sweating after going gluten free. About 2 weeks into being gluten free it started... Lasted 2 weeks and went away. Then again a month later for about 5-6 nights.... Apart from the occasional sweat now (which I attribute to just too many bed clothes tbh)... I am sweat free! I have cut out some major foods... But I do think for me the sweats were...
  19. Thanks for everyone that posted here, I've been meaning to respond but have been off the forum for a few days with family 'stuff' going on. Anyway. Irish Heart, I very much hope you are right... That I will be able to get corn back. I've had yet another mystery reaction last night... Am a bit bewildered by it all. Takala... Thank you so much for your...
  20. Thanks for all the replies. I must admit I am slightly confused as to whether its even safe for some celiacs to eat corn? (Irishheart, the report you posted seemed to imply that some celiacs might have damaged guts from corn? And that there were no follow ups to see if they healed after removing it??) I appreciate that this probably isn't the case for...
  21. Thanks Irish Heart! So when you say not digesting it fully you mean seeing it a bit later on again?!! This is what happens to me also!! Interesting... Didn't know citric acid is corn based? Soooo much to learn. You guys must have Phd's in Celiac Disease! Ok, I'm also wondering if it was the corn that caused my loose BM? I used to eat baby crisps...
  22. I recently have become intolerant to corn after 3-4 months gluten free... I seem to tolerate small amounts without any gi symptoms, but larger amounts (like a bowl of corn flakes) gets it all going horribly wrong for a couple of days or more. Should I continue to eat small amounts or just completely avoid. Do I need to avoid things with corn flour/starch...
  23. Hi kareng! Yes. I ate some avocado salad and rice cakes with the cheese! I know what you mean but I wasn't hungry the noises were louder and more pronounced than hunger rumbles, and there were definite pains later on (just not that bad!)
  24. Thank you, tbh that's what I was thinking... So I'm glad you said that! I'd be too worried about having it more often. But you see even if I had a little bit once a week it would just help with the protein (yes, it's that bad). Thanks for you help
