  1. Hoping to super clean the casa today but not super energetic. Getting out the iPod. Tomorrow I'll rest.

  2. I began this journey last October. Although the beginning of this was quite eye opening and a lot of terror (waiting for the troll with the big stick to appear everytime I ate!), I feel I have crossed the line from Newbie to _________ (insert next level here). My skin is something I can actually be proud of (since it's an organ, it is encouraging that the...
  3. p.s. I look forward to months 15 to 27!
  4. IrishHeart, why wouldn't you tell a newbie how long it took? I was just about to pose that question to folks. Although I'm amazed at how different life is without gluten for the first time, I still wake up wondering if I'll ever move beyond this place - thrilled the mind is functioning but the body still fatigued & wonky. What constitutes a newbie...
  5. Wouldn't a yeast overgrowth be helped by taking a probiotic? My nutritionist told me that taking a probiotic is very important for us. Good luck, Cali

    ARCHIVED Pizza Hut

This is an old post but just wanted to say, a fellow Celiac ate a Domino's and was sick for the first time in two years! He had ordered one previously, cut a slice in half and then waited three hours before eating the rest of it, no problem. It was the second order on another day that made him sick. Be careful!
  7. Here's information that may help the person who posed the initial question: https://www.celiac.com/articles/104/1/Refractory-Celiac-Disease/Page1.html Also, important new information about trace gluten coming out now in studies (in case anyone else coming to this thread is looking for help with ongoing symptoms): Open Original Shared Link
  8. If several people had similar complaints about me, I would listen. It might hurt but if you're really into taking personal responsibility & ownership, Gemini, that would be the way to go. It is the tougher road to take but more mature & it would certainly be in line with your mantra. Good luck.
  9. Cavernio - Well said! The many roads I went down to get here & find out it was physical... Even majored in psychology ha ha! What an eye opener, eh?!
  10. I think anger should be put back under control here. This is a support group. That means it's here for everyone who is hurting to get things off their chest especially to not burden friends & family. Not quite sure what po'd Gemini off so much here. It must be personal. Do some work with the shadow and forgive others who are learning or on their...
  11. I read in "Gluten-Free for Dummies" that it is a steep learning curve. No truer words were said! I'm sorry you are going through this. I just started the journey in October and fully feel for what you are going through. This guide helped me (helps me!): Open Original Shared Link Take care of yourself and hang in there as you learn how to navigate this...
  12. p.s. haven't had a 9-5 in 10 years
  13. Thought I was a wimp & loser for years! My friendships really suffered because I would cancel or couldn't make plans. Sometimes a window of healthy days would appear and so no one ever really knew how sick I was. Started gluten-free in October HAVING NO IDEA that this was a real problem. I'm still recovering but whoa, feel like I'm experiencing things...
  14. I'm four months along and recently eliminated dairy from my diet. The experts recommend eliminating dairy for six months while the gut is healing. After six months, most can reintroduce dairy without any problems. I believe that I have a lot of sensitivities to food that the symptoms of gluten were covering up. You know when you have a big pain, you...
  15. I'm so glad it went easy peasy . It sounds like they know what they're doing!
  16. Really wanting to feel better. Went to the mall yesterday to shop for a suit and not feeling too well today. Wonder if I ever will.

  17. I didn't get the night sweats UNTIL AFTER going gluten-free. It was happening during the crazy beginner's roller coaster ride that most of us seem to go through at the start. It seems to me that my body went through hell those first few months. My period stopped. I thought maybe I was hitting menopause. However, everything has returned to normal. No...
  18. I'm in South Orange County. Looking for one in this area!! Cali
  19. p.s. Evelyn Tribole (www.evelyntribole.com) is a nutritionist whose son also has Celiac. She's off of the 73 & Birch.
  20. In SoCal. Not a mom. New to this journey (probably about when you posted this was when it all began for me). I just emailed someone in Newport who had a support group but it just bounced back to me as undeliverable. Let me know if you're still interested in starting one. Cali
  21. My hubby is gluten-free and he thanks me every day for being Celiac (he lost 20 lbs and feels better). You can modify your recipes (like soups) to be gluten-free and they actually TASTE BETTER and FRESHER without the gluten. I use Imagine vegetable broth. There are many gluten-free products that aren't gluten-free enough and/or I am sensitive to additional...
  22. My hubby has a sensitive nose. If I've spent several days in bed, he says the room begins to have "that smell". He also says it's not particularly bad, but stale. The skin is an organ and I don't think it's outside the realm of possibility that we give off an odor when our organs are taxed. He hasn't really said that much since I've been gluten-free....
  23. 1+ week since being glutened. I hurt!

  24. My hat goes off to you! REALLY! I started this journey in October and it's been a roller coaster ride. My husband went gluten-free because he felt it would be too difficult for me to stay away from it otherwise. He has lost 20 lbs and now also reacts to gluten though his symptoms are shorter lived and much less crushing. I have asked people...
  25. Last week i felt better than I have my whole life. Today, feeling sorry for myself. Pity party for one.
