  1. Well, I hurt like hell but I'm still here. Just for the record.
  2. That's good to know. Are digestive enzymes different from probiotics? I just started taking Reishi spores for the arthritis-type pain (as opposed to GI distress). This pain is debilitating & worthy of a strong narcotic but NOT going that route. The past two days, I've taken it as soon as I wake up and it begins to work well at about 90 minutes in...
  3. Those whistles during a migraine would send me over the edge! Fortunately, my migraines have resolved after eliminating gluten. Though the gluten headache is no fun, it's not to the level of a migraine. But, my arms aren't much good, that is for sure. Or the back. The pain increases or lingers longer when I'm active but I really wanted to know if resting...
  4. Okay, I just met with my grief counselor and she said it was good that I was incensed but not towards myself. Nurturing and caring for myself is back on the menu. I'm not so sure why that seems like hell right now but that's where I am so what else can I do? This is a journey of epic proportions. I sure do wish there was a short cut.
  5. Hi folks, Does anyone know if damage can come to the body by working on through the pain? Right now, I'm so angry at myself. At some point, the screw-ups have to stop. I've begun to drag myself into activity regardless of the pain. I'm really sick of being sick, talking about it and all of the setbacks that go with it. Maybe if I feel tortured, I'll...
  6. Pain is my teacher. I don't think I'll need to be reminded again! It hurts right now! *Don't forget*

  7. Can't thank the universe enough for giving me a condition that physically punishes me for being a people pleaser. Thank you for giving me no choice but to change.

  8. I ate a frozen gluten-free donut once and it was very good. I've also eaten some incredible gluten-free chocolate cupcakes. The next day though, I pay. I've chalked it up to the sugar content but who knows. Obviously, donuts aren't healthy, but I think the availability of gluten-free donuts is great for people with families and for kids who could use...
  9. Feeding someone gluten and then eating a slice of watermelon without washing your hands is not advised :/ I can't wait for this first year to be over.

  10. The extent to which my life has changed the last six months is nothing less than astounding.

  11. I have so much apathy it's underwhelming.

  12. Hi folks, Just wondering if there was a thread or blog I could refer to for positive recovery stories. People in my life are worried about me and I'd like to speak to them with a more upbeat perspective. I know it's not all rainbows and butterflies but it would be helpful to have stories from the veterans who are experiencing improvements. If anyone...
  13. If only positive thinking was the cure! I have an appointment with a Functional Medicine doctor in a few weeks (first visit). I can imagine she will want to test me for allergies. If you have any suggestions or questions I should ask during my appointment, I'd appreciate your input. It would definitely be better to have a test and stop with the trial...
  14. I had a doctor tell me in passing that Celiac wasn't an autoimmune condition. I told him Celiac is the only autoimmune condition with a known trigger. He had to turn around in order to gather himself. It was a good day.
  15. It has been so long since I've been glutened that I hardly remember what it was like. Thank goodness for that! Unfortunately, I ate a handful of nuts (the first food I gave up back in the 90s). It has been a three-day drag so far. Many symptoms are similar to gluten but not as pronounced. Also, there is not much emotional disregulation as there typically...
  16. I just read this article this week: Open Original Shared Link Dr. Fasano: "We were under the impression that the recipe for Celiac disease was pretty much known to us. You have to be born with the genes, you have to eat gluten, and that will cause Celiac disease. Then we realized that was not the case. I mentioned that we’re in the midst of an epidemic o...
  17. Waiting for my avocados to ripen. *tick tock tick tock* in my PJs on a Saturday night.

  18. This is the most extensive symptoms list I've run across: Open Original Shared Link
  19. Thank you everybody. It's helpful to learn about your experiences and your support is quite comforting. I will take all of the advice. <3
  20. Thanks for the hug. Yep on all of those. Foggy brain...
  21. Hi folks, Is it possible to have glutened symptoms from intense stress? My dad's funeral is tomorrow and, along with overseeing my parents' healthcare, financial affairs, care, house, blah blah blah I planned the funeral too. I know that stress exasperates Celiac but to the point of having symptoms? My mom's friends wanted a pizza a few nights ago and...
